@@dtorb6657 A good way is to use a caliper a sandwich the material and see how thick it is. Generally speaking vinyl is around 1/32" and carpet around 3/32". If doing a vinyl-vinyl gap add the two layers for 1/16", or if doing vinyl-carpet you would be 4/32 (which is 1/8")
Just finished Focal Master Tech Training myself. Dude great work bro. Mobile Solutions is a great asset to fabricators and you Sir are a great ambassador.
Can we stop for a second... Holy crap you are by far the most talented car audio guy I have seen. These other UA-camrs can't even touch your skill level. Anyone can connect wires and make the wiring pretty but what you do is next level. Thanks for sharing with us.
Amazing work!!! I cannot help but recognize that everything you make looks like it belongs in a Star Wars set (look, angles, etc). Not sure how well it fits into modern auto aesthetics but quality work for sure. Millennium Falcon Fabrication, punch it!
Unbelievable work and talent. Your attention to detail gives all of us inspiration to get out in the shop and do something cool! Thank you for taking the time and effort it takes to share (editing too) with all of us!
in all of your design that ive seen, this is the one that i realy wanna copy for my next project not the exact design of yours but similar to that i like what youve did to the front panel the style and curves
4th order bandpass boxes is what I'm impressed with lately t line boxes are clean but cant get low and sound no better than a regular universal ported box for 100$
That looks amazing! Great craftsmanship. I do have a question regarding T-Lines. I would love to build one for my Mini... what would be the effects of the port being half the required length?
Dude you are a beast at this custom building. I love watching your videos. I been watching em all for a while now. Shout me out in your next video bro.
Just note that while you may be able to hear some differences between the speakers, in no way can you actually tell how the speaker itself sounds. Think about it, you are listening to a recording of a speaker, through another speaker (headphones or otherwise).
You are not going to hear how any speaker sounds in your car... Until it's in your car. Even speakers on a demo board are going to sound different than in vehicle. The point is you can compare the sound. A warmer sounding speaker is likely going to sound warmer once in vehicle in comparsion.
That is partially true. My point though was that you can’t evaluate a speaker by listening to a recording of it through a different speaker. You may be able to hear some relative differences between two, but the tonality of them is going to be way off because you are actually listening to a 3rd speaker (headphones in this case). That’s like saying I can tell the handling of a Lamborghini vs a Ferrari because I’m driving both of them in a video game :)
@@pocket5s1 While it's not going to give you the same experience as listening to the speakers live (or even better in your car or home) we do take into account the 3rd speaker (headphones). When you use the system you select the headphones you are listening on. Our engineers have profiled the specific characteristics of lots of headphones. What we hope to be able to show is the relative differences in the speakers, and not a 100% reproduction of the sound quality. If you decide to give a try we'd love to hear feedback on what you thought.
As usual, an awesome video! You got me going back to some of my old DIY projects and trying these techniques out! Some I am getting ,others... well, let's just say I need practice lol
Hey Mark, I love your installs and the accompanying videos. I was wondering if and when you are going to use some wood veneers or maybe some carbon fiber inlays. I’m also a fan of home audio and the use of exotic materials. You definitely have to vision, talent and skill to incorporate these materials and would really bring it to the audiophile finish that your clearly are capable of creating.
Wow, vary nice work.. I would go all vinyl . check out some of the textured vinyls like on motorcycle seats , motocross seats have what they call gripper material in all colors , Factory Effex makes bulk packs. Mix and match , just an idea . I have to say some of your best work thos-far.
Another great vid I can’t imagine what you could do if you have a CNC machine and laser CNC machine using corle draw or autocad software to transfer it to the machines Your outcome is almost a precision work as same as CNC Trust me it’s pricy but will save a lot of time and save a lot of materials and you will have a more flexibility for new ideas
I have a CNC machine. When laying out stuff like this it's honestly faster to do it the way I do. I don't need to cut one, see if I like it, cut another etc. I can come up with stuff pretty quick. CNC would make more sense if I wanted to do 100 of this same design.
Great video series and channel. Even though i don't build car audio gear i very much enjoy watching and learning about your approach and technique . Being a woodworker i can appreciate your collection of router bits and router table setups. What brand of router bit do you use?
Hi mark, I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a review on one of the few Brazilian DSPs on the market now like, PRV, Stetsom, taramps, And expert electronics?
That is a beautiful box Mark. I an currently building a 4 cube downfire sealed wedge for my 2 HCCA 124's. I really want to do something different with it. I was thinking about cutting a design into the front of it and sealing it with plexiglass. I was thinking I could glue 2 1\4 sheets of plexi together and cover the cutouts. I want to put some lights inside the box so that the light will shine thru the cutouts. Would it be possible to do this and keep the box airtight? Is there a certain type of glue that I might use that would be better? I have learned so much watching your vids Mark, and I want to thank you for all your help.
If I email you blue prints can you turn it into a 3d model so I can get a better visual of the design. I'm trying to build my first box and 3d is easier to read than 2d on grid paper. Thank you Mark in advance
i think the same thing he must be so heavily invested in tools and plus needing the proper workspace for all those tools and to of course build and work with those tools
Hmm not to point out the obvious but its not possible to show how a speaker sounds, 3rd hand over thr internet. From mic recording speaker, file being uploading and being compressed, and then replayed over whatever device the end user has.. Also, are they just going off the speakers graph, then adjusting eq points of the song to accentuate certain portions for the speaker and raising low nodes... Hmmm
👉 When I go to wrap this do you think I should use ALL vinyl or should I do a carpet/vinyl combo? Thanks for watching dudes! I appreciate you guys! 😊
All vinyl! Quick question, how do you know what size to make the gaps?
@@dtorb6657 A good way is to use a caliper a sandwich the material and see how thick it is. Generally speaking vinyl is around 1/32" and carpet around 3/32". If doing a vinyl-vinyl gap add the two layers for 1/16", or if doing vinyl-carpet you would be 4/32 (which is 1/8")
I prefer combo of materials, gives more depth

I’m thinking all vinyl but possibly different colors to add depth.

I will lend you my brand new car for any install project you want! Great work man!

I came to your channel for basic car audio...i'm staying for the incredible wood working. You must have 10k in router bits alone!
All the little details. Clean Clean Clean. Love it.

I have to say you have a dieing talent my friend. Love the audio videos man keep them coming. Thank you for all the awesome tips
The router wizard strikes again! Great video as always. I like the idea of the all vinyl wrap, but different colors...
Never thought it could look so good
Making an otherwise boring box start to look good. :)

Best car audio channel Mark . thank you for video
Fabrication for the DIY guys and gals ....super informative video
I have said it before but saying it again, you are an absolute legend at this! Love every single video you put out, and that surround tho! =)
wow man! you make magic with routers!
It's amazing to watch a master work. Impressive techniques and tips. Loved this!

The speaker compare tool looks awesome. Definitely checking that out.
Definitely do, i was really surprised how well you can notice the differences.

Hi, can pls guide with the DSP connection to Component Speakers & with Subwoofer
Beautiful!
It's getting better with every step. But why not raise the triangle and then raise the circle for your logo? Think that would look even better.
BIG FAN INDIE
:)
Are you gonna glue the "LED strip" to the box or as an option is get one magnetic led strip instend and get few magnets to hold it in place :)
Awesome skills!!!!!

when do you start the turbo project to compensate for all the extra weight! :)
Like usual though nice work!
What are the dimensions for the box? And tuning.
Can u put the link for this bit i only see 30 degree
Is it possible to connect a 3.5-inch speakers to the front of the car with my amplifier ?
Can you make me one for my H2 hummer sut 07
How much weight was added from all those beauty panels?
Could they have been fabricated from PVC?
Do you ever factor in weight?
Nice to see some more fab videos :)
How can I stop the speaker from popping when the amp is switched on/off?
Fab kitchen
Hey honestly how much does this average cost can you tell me???

this is madness)
Its fun!
@@CarAudioFabrication i mean mad skills and solutions, in good meaning)

We need a trim panel for a flat wall video...
The video is super cool and informative but who out of all your viewers has access to all the tools you have.
