Underseat SUBWOOFER Build! How to cut ANGLE!

- Building a custom subwoofer box for an underseat enclosure in a truck or SUV can be a challenge. You will likely want to add rounded corners to the corners of the box to match the seat, and one of the best ways to do this is to create a stacked profile. But after we make a stack fab box how can we cut the angle to the side of the box to allow for the angled seat to sit flush with the top of the subwoofer enclosure? Here’s how!

Thanks so much for this tutorial. Used your techniques to make my own for my crew cab silverado. I did a single 12" pancake sub and got a whopping 1.25 sq ft of air space on one side, then just used the remaining space for storage. Subbed.

I find using DOW board or rigid foam board works great for roughing out odd configurations and angles. Its cheap per 4x8 sheet(like a few bucks depending on thickness) and can be cut with k-nife. On a side note, I feel like you could make that cut in one pass with a chop saw or radial arm saw at a compound angle with a part axis change. But thats beyond this video and would definitely depend on part thickness, and vise setup.

That looks very fun to build. I ordered a box from MTI Acoustics because I don’t have all of these tools yet. But when I do you bet I’ll be making my own boxes with the skills and tips I’ve learned from your videos

Lol. Just won a set of the curve stack templates from a drawing. Built my first under seat box like that. Would have love to have the angle tip 3 weeks ago. Lol. That was a neat box.
I recommend either attaching a piece of metal or wood to the underside of your sled that would fit into those slots on your table saw. Than you dont need to use your fence and you eliminate that possible error, plus you can cut much longer boards. If you add a rear fence that you true up to be 90 degrees to the blade, you can also quickly cut accurate 90° cuts.

4 years later and coming back to see this masterpiece again. Getting ready to use a kicker l7s and build something just like this for my wife’s suv cargo area.
Doing this with a single ported sub is soo much more difficult cause the thin box makes the port sooooo long lol.. box is gonna go from 26” wide to 42” wide just to accommodate the port 🤦♂️
I’d love to see you build something similar this using a single JL Audio 13TW5 subwoofer for a Ford F-150 application.
