What's Behind This Reservoir?

  • Reservoirs are pretty common here in Pennsylvania. Not only do they play an important part for the water system, but they are equally as important for recreation. This video goes to prove that you don't know how something is unless you see it for yourself. So come along with me as we take a beautiful and relaxing walk around the Dunmore Reservoir #1. After experiencing this play for myself, I will certainly be returning in the future. Enjoy

The beavers come back and cut the trees to the sizes they need and drag them to the place the want to set up a nice home.
When you see documentaries on them it is amazing what they can do. Making little compartments for food storage, a place to hang out and raise beaver kiddies. They have more than 1 way to escape.
The Beavers also make ways for other animals to have a place to come & drink & all. If they stop chewing then their teeth that keep growing will grow right through their jaws. They have to stay busy.
Where you're at makes me homesick for the Pine Barens, New Jersey. I lived there for 17 years.

I thought I had heard that their teeth would grow like that. I wonder just how big these beavers are? It seems like they must be fairly large from how far up their teeth marks are. That all I know about beavers. lol I have never seen one in real life.

@@garnetbarton3313 Beavers can actually get to be a good size. I have seen them quite often and still do. They were always building dams on our pond on our farm back in the day. They are pretty smart like most rodents. And yes they have to chew lots of wood to keep their teeth down to normal size like all other rodents from hamsters on up.

@@wendyhenschel. I used to live in the country and our neighbor had a pond we could see from our backyard. My grandson who was about 4 or 5 said he seen a beaver as big as his dad who was 6'3" and weighed about 250. Now that would be a big beaver. lol p.s. I never seen it myself.

Saw the bluebird house on the tree at the beginning ( 3:44 ) ...love bluebirds . Maybe y'all will see some when you come back. You got some really great shots .. the heart in the hollow tree and the underwater shots with the sheets of ice ... great photo montage ( I I loved the music and the nature sounds LOL ..: ). Wanted to add. I have seen beaver take down trees a good 25 to 35 inches or bigger. My parents actually had to have the dnr come onto their land and take out a huge beaver dam as it was blocking the creek that went through their land. It is a creek that travels for miles into a larger river.

An absolutely awesome insight into the beauty of the Pennsylvania countryside. The Reservoir isn't an eyesore, it just fits into place nicely. The Beaver trees were fascinating, I loved seeing that. The underwater filming I loved, being able to see the ice from below, I could watch that all day. I think I saw a little fish, did I ? Not sure if there are fish in a Reservoir 😊 Beautiful trails and picnic spots. I would sit there with you any day of the week 😊 I love to hear the natural sounds but the music (to the still shots) was beautiful. Honestly JP this was awesome. Thank you. Oh Jay, Thank You for taking me on an absolutely wonderful "virtual" trip around the reservoir. I loved every step we took. The "Heart tree" was really unique to see. The double trees, I have always called them "His Arms" reaching for the sky to glorify God. Someone really should "edgimacate" those beavers!!! All of that hard work for naught. I also enjoyed the ambient sounds of nature. I could hear the crunch of the leaves, the sound of the traffic, the songs of the birds and the trickle of the running brooks. I can't go for walks anymore since I broke my hip in 2017 and every time I can get out and "hike" in the woods again is a great time. I use to all the time every evening and catch the sunset in my special spot.
