      None of the video was about form. They just gave the basic outline of the technique.

    weightlifting is so much technique. If you display poor technique it is 20 times harder to lift the weight

      There are only a few countries in the world which have actual weightlifting academies. Most of the Eastern European countries as well as China, Iran, Japan, Korea, Colombia, Cuba, etc. But Klokov has said how there will soon be very successful lifters from the US and UK because of how many people are eager to learn about the sport and participate.

      The heavy weights are also "small" for their weight. At 150kg you'd expect someone to be over 6'4" like most Strongmen, but they're all in the 6'-6'2" range.
      But it's also their proportions. With shorter limbs everyone looks dwarfish.

      Lucas Freire well at 6ft youd expect some one to be max 90 kg but in weightlifting weight and height can be advantages :p 6ft-6ft 2in is taller than avarage

      Serge Redding and Vasily Alexeev have done over 500lbs, but "strict" is tricky to judge, and the lift was eventually removed from the sport.

    • @ah7027
      @ah7027 6 років тому

      well strict press and the jerk don't really correlate that well. it would depend from lifter to lifter. Some lifters will rarely train with strict presses while others will incorporate it a lot. I for one don't use a lot of strict presses. so mine is only around half of what I can jerk.

    • @ti8864
      @ti8864 7 років тому +10

      Arman Osdinia nope, they are pretty strong, i think because of doping, but there technique isn't on the heighest level. Chinese are the best, but also Kazhakstan or Russia are way better. But also a lot of european countrys have a better technique than iran, like Germany, Romania or Georgia.
      This Talakhadze guy really destroyed Behad Salimi from Iran.

    • @DarklordZagarna
      @DarklordZagarna 8 років тому +10

      No, that would be crazy dangerous. A good lift is a good lift; the second the judges say okay, you drop the weight.
      The competition is three lifts in the snatch, then three in the clean and jerk. Take the best weight you lifted in each category, and that's your total score.

      Gregs Mowing strongman and powerlifting are more about raw strength and no doubt the best strongmen and powerlifters all have more raw strength than even the best weightlifters but to be a good weightlifter you need technique, mobility, and explosiveness as well as pure strength. As a powerlifter who recently started weightlifting I can assure you that me simply being strong does not translate into big weightlifting totals
