Great video and clear explanations. If you wanted to use Wu Chi as a meditative practice. How long would you stand in Wu Chi?

Hi George, thank you and sorry for the late response. I would aim for an hour but whatever time you start with is exactly where you need to be and that's absolutely fine. Just be gentle with yourself and add 5 minutes to each session. A general rule of thumb is - if joints are hurting, proceed with caution and determine exactly why you feel pain. If muscles are hurting, this is just part of the process and 'push through it' as much as you can. :)

I've seen taji players bounce people off their bodies with ease--some say that this standing type of exercise gives this ability-is that the goal of this qigong

Thank you, great comment and question! While a variation of this wuji posture might help increase jin (internal energy) for the sake of bouncing an opponent, this particular version is mainly used to create 'space' within the body. Creating space allows for the easy and efficient flow of Qi.

8.30 can you give another way to understand how to release down the flesh or the weight?

      How to find that feeling?

Thank you for the question. I'll try to keep this short but the process takes time and patience. The first task is to allow the mind to be absorbed into the body. Our mind tends to be 'stuck' in one area of the body (like behind our eyes) and we need to expand that awareness so that the entire body is involved. While this is happening we need to hold the bones in place (this is the structure where we will hang the flesh). Then we need to allow anything that is not bone: skin, internal organs, fascia, blood to sink and pull down (using gravity) away from our bones. This creates the internal stretch we need to start the process of release. By holding the skeleton in place and sinking the flesh (allowing it to be pulled down by gravity) we will begin to feel heaviness in the feet, legs and hands.
I hope this sheds a little light on the process.

It's not to consciously release the muscles?
