pretty interesting for Ryadh air to choose strictly boeing despite the safety broblems boeing planes havve been experiencing lately, curious to see how this goes
It has four eng... motors instead of the necessary two. Electric planes tend to plaster propellers all over. Not that it would make sense from an engineering point of view. It doesn't. 😉
Hate to correct you, but MEL already hosts simultaneous landings as well as simultaneous take off and landing when weather conditions permit. This has been happening for a very long time and I would’ve thought DJ would know this. It’s called Land and Hold Short Operations (LAHSO). Ho hum.
He said simultaneous takeoffs and landings. You can’t do simultaneous takeoffs. You can do simultaneous landings. Or one landing and one taking off with LAHSO. But you can’t have two aircraft takeoff. Also, many operators will not accept LAHSO.
I have a slight feeling Air New Zealand will be wanting a few ES30'S as their currently trying to run entirely on green fuel and buying some small electric planes.
Legendary Fokker Aircraft Company is reanimated. The Fokker Next Gen is a promising liquid hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and kerosene powered aircraft by the looks of it. Projected commercial entry into service is around 2035. It is a joined venture between Fokker and Dassault Systemes.
Very nice videos. Observations please. They are not called test flights at this stage but demonstration flights. Also I believe it's a non commercial flight as well. Non commercial flight means they can carry passengers but not for a fare. It's all demonstration flights.
An electric plane will have challenges such as the weight will remain the same from start to finish of flight. Batteries take up space and weight. Range will be limited. Engines will be largest draw of energy. Certainly interesting how a manufacturer will tackle these, and more, challenges.
Fossil fuels in aviation are likely to be around for a long time due to the energy density requirements for aircraft. However, the time scale which Earth replenishes fossil fuel supply naturally is in the hundreds of millions of years. Regardless, supply is not the issue with fossil fuels, especially considering the volume of current reserves and the expected come down of demand in most areas of the economy over the next century. It's the effect of the emissions on the global weather system which is of real concern.
Oil is mineral, not "fossil" fuel. It really doesn't take that long for "exhausted" wells to fill up again - easily within an average human's lifespan. Peak oil is just another lie in the Narrative pushed upon an ill-informed, unsuspecting populace, in order to financially dominate and control them by selling them on the concept of "limited resources" and (artificial) "scarcity."

Thanks, Dan 👍 ... for the info about Heart's aircraft. It's interesting. 👍 But not innovative enough. 😞 Because it follows the path of automotive industry ... which is - already - controversial. 🤔
I wish Heart well, but the goal is really what they call a "stretch goal". It is proper that you emphasise that this is a demonstrator, and a very early demonstrator at that. The amount of money they are going to consume (flush?) is IMHO eye-watering. Maybe an operational plane (with severe limitations compared with today's planes) is possible, but today's technology is completely incapable of a plane anywhere near current operational planes, unless you count SAF but then production quantities of this fuel are tiny. But these efforts have to be made to drive improvements in the technology. But IMHO zero CO2 is an impractical goal, for aerospace and for industry/everyone in general. Sure, we should be more aware of our impact on the environment, but CO2 is only one of these. But that is another windmill (to tilt at).
The third runway at Melbourne Airport is at least 20 years late but I guess it is a case of better late than never. Apart from the absolute necessity for a rail link to both Melbourne and Avalon, they should be planning a second runway and a major expansion of freight handling at Avalon with the aim of making it the main freight airport for the Greater Melbourne area given its proximity to major road and rail infrastructure and to sea ports.
That bulky udder must be a big drag; plus, you really must be suicidal to fly in an electric powered airplane, at least with current technologies. But for "ground testing" I guess it's OK.

They need 6 aircraft doing these tests as we need to complete it all in the next few years so production and operation can be started. The need for a modular battery swap out system is hugely important or a battery technology that can recharge in 45m or less because the biggest issue will be this charge time. Tesla should be involved and building a terminal based charging system is right up their alley. Why keep reinventing the wheel when they could just reuse the work Tesla has already pioneered. What is the expected range, seating, payload capacity of this aircraft. Come on folks, we expected more from this weak progress... innovation when Tesla has already beat all the technical hurdles of ground based operations for their cars should be easy.
