- We've been around awhile, doing our best to become better artists, character designers, and visual storytellers. UA-cam has changed a lot as a platform over the last 7 years, as well. As we approach the eve of a new kind of content, I thought it'd be fun to compile some of the highlights, and see how far we've really come.
Here's a playlist of some favorite videos of mine if you're interested in some more: • Let's Design: A RETRO ...
"There are only like 12 minutes that I felt was worth taping. And most of that was just birds in my condo complex." - Michael Scott

Thank you for all your support over the years! What's your personal favorite video from the channel?
“This is how you’re going to hit your goals.” A special video of yours for me
It's fun watching this retrospective from you! 🎉😂❤ Takes me back, too, to how much my work changed but also realising how many useful videod by you I actually watched! 😮😊 Good luck to you however you decide to evolve this channel and your work outside of it. 👍🤖👷♂️🛐
This video is an hour long shot of serotonin straight to my brain. I’ve been watching (and rewatching) your videos for so many years I’m not sure when I first found you. This channel has been such a comfortable place to go to when I’m having coffee, when I need a bit of inspiration, or when I’m just winding down with my sketchbook.
Tldr, this is fun and funny and good and I like it. Thank you for creating, I can’t wait to see what you’ll do next!
Thank you so much, that makes my day!
Some of my favorite videos are ones where you explore to energy and emotional side of art - and how to get back into it after a hiatus. Plus I love watching your work on Biko and storm fellers, parcel, and jamborella
Even though I am changing careers from marketing into counseling, I still do art on the side
I remember watching a lot of your videos during COVID to keep me going (I even go three commission since them) I still revisit your UA-cam videos as well as your course videos when I do art or a lunch break 😄 (plus idk how to describe it I like how you and Tay do your videos - there's like something like a genuine, calm, and the right type of humor) also you have such a cute DOGGO (I had no idea you had a dog)! ✨💙
Hi I just discovered you today, I’m a student in 3d graphics but I have been studying my whole life chara design and story telling. Now I have an internship that combines both and I am currently standing in a block position and didn’t know how to get out of this mindset. I’ve been watching your videos all day long and now I just finished my shift and will come back home with a smile because you so made my day, you are a pillar of knowledge and you really helped me ! Thank you so much for that ❤
Damm, it's been so long that i don't even remember when i started following you, your share in my art and storytelling progression has been huge, really looking forward to your own indie project, and wish you the best health, because we know how much time it takes to animate. This community, and Brad Colbow's community even though not as big as other youtubers is one of the healthiest community.
My fav video was the one you did on acrylic painting, saying how traditional mediums help you understand rendering better.
I’ve been watching your videos for around four or five years now… it’s hard to remember exactly when. Your advice has been so invaluable on my art journey in making me a physically/mentally better artist, thank-you so much for that!! One of my favorite videos on your channel is the one about having 1,000 bad drawings in your hand. It really made me laugh and since I’m a huge perfectionist, made stop taking myself so seriously and to just draw!
Fantastic!!
🤣🤪👍👍👍😱🤖🤖
IDK about favorite, I have to go back and check a few contenders out. The one I think is most memorable to me was the jams & jamborella model. Epic creation! Looking forward to the next 7 ;)
Hehe that's a fave of mine too!
I've watched almost every single one of your videos, Brookes. Thanks for doing what you do, I know it isn't easy.
I’m about 14 minutes into the video and I absolutely love it! I’m so glad to be here as part of the audience for this channel. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Blake!!
loving the video so far, although i can’t say it brings back memories because i binge watched all of your videos when i found the channel 2 years ago
XD Like reminiscing on breakfast
This was a wonderful walk down memory lane as well as a nice look at some of the videos that I originally wasn't watching because of one reason or another. I really wanna check out that cooking up a story video now!
Since this is kind of a looking back/greatest hits compilation, I'd like to share that my favorite video you've ever done was the 'Finding your Aesthetic' video, with 'Find your Artistic Voice' video as a close second. I watch those multiple times whenever I'm feeling a bit artistically lost or need a pick-me-up :)
Fun! Those are personal faves too- thanks so much! 😄
One of my favorites was the one you did with the possum lad and how you modeled him In 3D, that was pretty much what helped give me the final nudge into trying 3D for myself! I can’t believe I’ve been watching since 7thish grade, I’m a sophomore in collage now! Time flies huh? I still remember finding that color scheme video for characters you did and becoming obsessed with your channel! (Took me a bit to actually make a UA-cam account tho 😅)
I've only watched you for 2 years but I'd like to say thank you for all the knowledge you've given me and time dedicated to the channel
Big appreciate, thank you!
@@CharacterDesignForge Thank for replying!!
*_The Legend of Brookes._*
*_This is a man. He's a lad, experienced, yet he's like us. He done some good tutorials, some good painting sessions, and he's met with other artists. He met legends back in 2020, 2021, and 2022 (I might not be watching the 2020, correct me if there's anything I missed, oof). He even did the collab with a Disney animator and met Parker Simmons himself! I just stumbled on this channel and subbed to him because... man's making an ORIGINAL series, has some good tutorials, and he does some fantastic 2D painting._*
*_He's got memes. He's got... Blender Biko (I will never forget when Biko decided to create memes of himself). But he's an experienced fun guy._*
*_This is Brookes. Fun teacher, fun artist. He'll make a very fun class._*
For real, keep going! You'll someday become one of the next generation of artists and legends!
Aw thats to kind, thank you! 😄
So, so glad I found this channel! Every time I'm in a rut I find myself coming back to these videos and they never fail to inspire.
Can't watch fully right now, but I'll keep it running in the background for the moment while I cook.
So many good times!! My favorite video is the critique where you said my art is good- /j
Fr though the video on what to do when you're struggling is one that I go back to constantly and that keeps me grounded when I feel down on myself and my art. Your channel has helped so much in my artistic journey and mindset and I can't say enough how grateful I am, ty Brookes and the community of friends I've found 💖
Thank you so much! I'm so glad to have been part of that journey!
I can't believe it's been so long. So many videos...
But to answer the question, I think one of my favorites is when you were talking about off model Expressions.
Oh interesting, I don't hear much from folks on that one, but I'm really glad!
Your humor is underrated
