looks like i gotta make a follow-up video to add my thoughts and combo ideas. Also, THANK YOU for not misunderstanding the card and thinking Celestus is necessary for a Vadrik build! That is apparently a thing right now... over 50% of his edhrec decks run it lol
The Celestus is not a bad card for Vadrik. If The Celestus is the only Day/Night card in the deck, then we also activate it to make it night. Which is a total 6 mana investment. Just so Vadrik can ETB and get one counter?? Eh...I have other things to spend mana on. I'm just not particularly inspired to include it in the build. Day/night has only one set of support, so I wasn't even focused on it.
I don't usually like Izzet in general, but I like Vadrik unique build a lot. Then I thought it would be much more fun if I added Dragonstorm and a bunch of haste dragons! Might not be the most competitive, but it's definitely not what your opponents would expect! And has a lot of potential to 1 turn kill!
Izzet is my fave colour combo and thank you for posting this up its given me a lot to think about in brewing I originally had this as a boring control deck but I knew he was capable of so much more
@@aktirimagic4405 it was a really big help :) got some great ideas I had a bit of a dumb moment with the deck the other day cause i forgot humans cant mutate
Haze of rage has storm. Combos moar treasures from kiln artist. Makes moar mana. Then you can either chandras ignition or comet storm for lethal to everyone.
I'm just begining to build this deck and love the idea of Flux Channeler. As long as he's got one counter on him we can start giving Vadrik a more permanent buff
I like where your head's at, but I actually don't see a lot of blue instants and sorceries that put +1/+1 counters on creatures. Teferi's Time Twist and Stealth Mission are the only two I found under 4 mana. I think you'll struggle going that route.
@@aktirimagic4405 I know it's not guaranteed, but I feel like a pass around the table will trigger day/night cycle at least once giving us a proliferation target.
@@Whawha96 just looked up Lunar Mytic and Vadrik: no information confirming that he's the same person. Stoneforge Mystic is not Nahiri according to WotC
@@aktirimagic4405 what on earth? Vadrik builds slower than Mizzix who uses free spells to gain discounts and has no resilience making him start over after getting killed. Mizzix builds up and whether lives or dies is in a spot to go out keeping her bonus. This is a pale imitation.
@@regaleagle6533 mizzix is counterintuitive, you wanna be playing huge payoff spells to gain value off mizzix yet need to be constantly playing spells to get the reduction. With vadrik you can play a single pump spell to consistently get a mana reduction of 4-5.
@@regaleagle6533 Needing to play 3-4 spells to get the same cost reduction with mizzix I could get for one spell, is counterintuitive yes. When your deck is filled with huge 6-8 mana spells it’s difficult to stack up the experience counters on mizzix quickly, whereas even last night I had vadrik at 19 power with 2 cards. How often do you see mizzix going past 5 experience?

Haze of rage. Storm, buyback for R. Strongest imo unless ur doing some cedh thing.
Love love Buyback in this list!
Good Combo Vadrik + Seething Anger + Storm-Kiln Artist = Infinite Power for all Creatures :D
Holy crap that's awesome! Why didn't I realize that when I was making this video???? Good call out!

My budget commander... We can play it like voltron with spellslinger...
Is it lunar mystic?
WOOT!!!! Well done!
@@aktirimagic4405 eeeeey! Thought that was it. Pretty excited to build vadrik and nice video!
Wow! Awesome! They also look alike... could it be the same person?

I'm running sword of truth and justice commanders plate time stretch expropriate blatant thievery lol
Ew...don't be mean...
Wouldn’t Dramatic Reversal serve better than the Turnabout?
Only if you have mana rocks instead of lands to produce the mana. Dramatic Reversal only gets non lands
Its a yes and, imho. If youre running scepter
Just seems like a better Mizzix. Which is indeed strong
Also; 1st?
Most excellent. And yes, he's strictly better.
