I kinda wished that their would have been more effects that could change night and day. It's a good thing that there are plenty of other ways to increase the power of a creature!
Same. Although The Celestus does work. I pulled it along with 1 Brutal Cathar and 2 Gavony Dawnguard. So when I had nothing better to do with my mana, activating The Celestus to trigger them beyond depending on day/night changing organically was super clutch.
They've had it pretty simplified for quite some time. At the beginning of a players upkeep, if its day it becomes night if a player cast 2 or more spells their turn before this one. If its night, it becomes day, if a player cast no spells on their turn before this one. Its the same from old werewolf cards in original innistrad, they just gave it terms.
@@snarglblargn4986 I agree that the mechanic has been simplified. I just wish that there were more effects that just changed day to night and vice versa then the few that was printed
@@crovax1375 i feel that. I've boarded a couple of things like celestus and into the night for these reasons. Other wise im banking on casting more than 1 spell.on my turn to make it happen while otherwise ignoring the day/night mechanic on Vadrik entirely. As its a slow enabler for his ability and there are faster more efficient ways to raise his power and either storm off with spells or go in for a really nice WHACK
It's always good to see WotC add some variation. Ravnica guild concepts were brilliant AND limiting at the same time. Making game should always about taking some risk by embracing changes.
@@TheCommanderTavern I previously tested the Izzet voltron on Aegar, since you draw with combat damage as well, they either block your big giants/wizards or let them through.
I mean, it wouldn't be bad. But there aren't a lot of ways (in this particular deck, at least) to put a lot of +1/+1 counters on Vadrik (at least consistently). There also aren't any planeswalkers in the deck. So I don't really see it being that more useful than just getting +2/+2 and protection from white and blue.
X spells could definitely work but if you just chock the deck full of them it won't be so viable. You need to balance making Vadrik bigger (while also protecting him) and still be able to cast the spells in the worst case scenario. Otherwise you'll either have dead cards in your hand or cards that won't be as impactful because you're casting them for maybe X = 1 or X = 2, max.
@@TheCommanderTavern i won last night on turn 5. My vadrik had a runechanters pike at x=3. So i land cast storm kiln artist. Then haze of rage a bunch. To finish with a comet storm

Sword of truth and justice for its proliferate ability would be great

@The Commander Tavern Hey Mate Im looking to make this commander... i think An X Spelll build would be better then spell slinger right ?

@@TheCommanderTavern ya ill just have like 5 or 6 good X spells as game enders
@@colink638 That works. It definitely does when I played this deck with the couple of finishers I have in it.

As long as vadrik has 2 power ans you cast storm kiln artist before haze of rage. You go infinite.mana and storm count
Nice! Thanks for pointing that out!
