  • On March 28th, 2021, train 6610 broke down in Greenlawn with 410/5019. The LIRR sent out a 4 car set (415/5008) from Port Jeff yard which was originally going to push the broken set back to Jamaica. The rescue set ended up only going as far as Duke, where they turned around and went back to the yard. As seen in the video, they tried multiple times to start and throttle DE30AC 410, but something was still not right. In the end MP15AC 154 coupled up to the broken set and towed it back to the storage yard. I apologize for the blurriness in the first few clips, I accidentally hit the manual focus button on my camcorder which was already being soaked by the rain.

    This is the first and only time I’ve ever been able to find a video of an EMD DE30AC starting up, thank you for this :)

      They don’t build these new trains like they used to. Same goes for all new vehicles in general. The police still use a fleet of crown vics in case the newer cruisers break down and that happens alot

    I’ve always wanted to operate those MP15’s. The LIRR should ve never stopped using those for regular commuter trains

    Do all M7s, M9s, C3s, etc. have knuckle couplers for rescue other than their pin couplers?

      @LIRRTV  3 роки тому +1

      Good question. I can’t say for sure, but I’d imagine they all do

    • @_extra9126

      They use compromise couplers in that event.

    Its disgraceful what the LIRR lets their old MP-15's looks like. For years and years they've all looked like shit. Reminds me of really low budget, short line class 3 railroad locomotives.
