39 Animal Crossing Villagers That Haven't Returned

- Current as of 2023! This video shows 39 Animal Crossing villagers (and islanders) that STILL haven't returned since Nintendo GameCube. It includes a punk rocker sheep (Woolio), an anteater named Nosegay, a pirate pig named Pigleg, a colorful chicken named Rhoda, and more!
NOTE: This video originally showed 43 villagers. But Ace, Faith, Rio, and Zoe have returned in the Version 2.0 update of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch. They have been edited out of this video.
Can you come up with better rhymes about these villagers than I did in the video? Leave yours in the comments, and upvote all the best ones so they'll rise to the top!
If you're wondering how I got footage of all these villagers (since only a few of them live in my towns of Forest and Ohio), it took a lot of restarting temporary towns. Nine months worth, in fact. During the process, I've concluded that some villagers will not appear as starter villagers. So I eventually saved the towns until they filled up to the max of 15 villagers (or longer) until I got each one. Woolio took me the longest to track down.

Honestly I'm hoping the reason they havent added many new villager is because they may bring back all (or most or some) of the past villagers. I would love see them take them and maybe added to or change their designs slightly as well
i can even think of a way for carmen the mouse to come back, they could of just change her name to lets say ribbon for example to avoid confusion with carmen the bunny

Dozer is my favorite of all time. His name + he looks like he's asleep 24/7 and I agree Jambette is awful, lol
In City Folk my favorite villager moved out without telling me, and then a week later Jambette moved in right where he used to live. I stopped playing shortly afterwards 😂
I was already kinda getting tired of the game after a year and a half of playing it almost every day, but losing my favorite villager is what made me completely lose interest for the time being. I’m back into Animal Crossing now though, I’m having a lot of fun with New Horizons.

Right, they'd need to change some of the villager's names (Carmen) & catchphrases (Betty's catchphrase is the same as Knox's), as well as changing the personalities of some of them (Bessie, Nosegay should be uchi, while Flash should be smug) though. Also, shocked we didn;t get the Japanese exclusive villagers or Champ.

UPDATE: Ace, Faith, Rio, and Zoe have returned in New Horizons 2.0, so they have been edited out of this video. The video is now up-to-date...and that's why it's now 39 villagers instead of 43.
A few reasons: I never imported the Japan-only games, I don't use emulators, and I don't read Japanese...so I wouldn't be able to capture footage of those characters. Also, 98% of my viewers live in countries where those villagers were never available anyway. This video is just about the villagers from the first worldwide release of Animal Crossing (the GameCube game). Besides, it took me long enough to get footage of all of *these* villagers. I probably made 150-200 towns to get them all. 😂

Other Animal Crossing games? For most of them, you'd probably have to find them used on eBay or another site that sells older/used games.

These rhymes are like majestic poetry to my ears.
it's interesting that the gc animals regard you as a 'human' (the curious, alien species of 'people') and different from them. maybe that is part of why some aren't too inclined to be nice. later games have the dialogue cater to the human player more, welcome and friendly, but here it really feels like you're moving into a random forest of animal residents that may or may not give a damn about who you are and what you're about. i kind of like that.
i haven’t come across that personally, but i’d be curious to see. i sorta think having them not treat you differently is interesting in its own right - after all, humans are really just another type of animal

Yeah, Liz was my best friend at least twice. I didn't realize she was gone until I was going in deep planning my New Leaf towns- just sort of figured RNG wasn't in her favor!

The way Hank's eyes roll back is creepy... but I digress! Nosegay is my favorite, she was so sweet to me! Her name means a bunch of sweet smelling flowers, for those curious. Also, Jane was originally colored all black in the Japanese version of AC, I believe? But, as one might be able to infer, she was changed to purple for the American release.

I mentioned on Twitter I had Woolio in my town. He moved in quite swiftly when I got the game going several years ago.
One time he asked me for a new catchphrase, so I gave him "muggle" - the only problem is I couldn't talk to him without laughing like a child. :P

When I was a kid I had this bad habit of ripping through save files like tissue paper, but as a result, I met a lot of villagers up close.
I definitely remember Bessie, Cupcake, Iggy, Penny, Quetzal, and Rollo. I feel like I might remember Chuck, Dozer, Emerald, Hambo, and Lulu…

I have often wondered why they didn't bring some of these characters back though. What made them think they weren't worthy of another game? I loved Iggy in the very first town I ever created nearly 15 years ago and it took me until about 3 years ago to realise why I'd never seen him again since 😒
Well, Ace, Rio, Zoe, and Faith have all returned to New Horizons 2.0. 39 villagers remain unreturned.
Frett, Chabwick, Roswell, and Azalea were also exclusive to Animal Forest e+ until the update, so it's nice to see those four finally localized.

The newer ones sound kinda weird to me, but I guess it’s because I’m not used to it.
After New Leaf, they changed it to sound more like the older games, though I like how New Leaf sounds best.
