How-To Catch Dungeness Crabs and Rock Crabs in the Bay Area Using Crab Snares

The 2017 Dungeness crab season is here! This is a very basic guide to crab snaring for Dungeness crabs and rock crabs in the Bay Area (Northern California). I give an overview of what to do, what you will need, and basic regulations for CA in 2017.
Suggested Equipment:
•8ft+ Surf Rod
•Size 5000+ Reel
•30lb+ line (preferably braided)
•Weights (calm waters you can use 1-2 oz, rougher conditions you will need heavier)
•Crab snares (there are many variations; in the video I used the most common form):

•CA Fishing License**
**You can fish/crab from public piers (Pacifica Pier, Halfmoon Bay jetty, etc.) without a fishing license. Check the California Department of Fish and Wildlife site for more information.
