Best Mazda RX8 Brake Rotors Under $400

- On the track, my Mazda RX-8 brakes got very hot and started to fade, so I decided to replace them with stop tech sport slotted brake rotors for better cooling. There are probably the best rotors for the money for this car, and they worked great at my last track day (video coming soon). I talk a bit about brake fade and then show how to replace one of these brake rotors. I hope you enjoy the video!

Thanks for uploading, but, some tips and tricks for other people who want to tackle this job:
- don't rely on the inboard jack (or any jack), use an axle stand in case something goes wrong
- always change pads and discs as a set
- remove the brake caliper from the bracket and push the piston back (some people do this with large pliers, but a specific tool doesn't cost much). Always undo the cap from the brake fluid reservoir when pushing back pistons
- grease the piston sliders and use locktite when putting them back in (they usually need about 25-28Nm)
- the large bolts holding down the caliper bracket will need around 45Nm at the back and 70Nm at the front (check those numbers for the rx8 before you proceed)
- clean the surface from the hub before mounting the rotor. No need to apply grease, altough some shops do it.
I need more detailed specific to each part vidz like this🔥🔥
I really like these educational styled videos and would definitely want to see more of them. As always, great video!
The king of the Rx8 has returned
Dayumm i love those rpf1's and thick meaty tires
"I only use this car for track and weekend drives "
Every RX-8 owner ever.
This is not a daily people, it is Exactly what you think it is, a race car.
The fuel mileage and maintenance alone should tell you that.
That being said I STILL WANT ONE!
Vaclav Kuzelka I daily my RX8, works great!
Vaclav Kuzelka I daily my rx8 and I had for almost three years. I did get a new engine from Mazda a year ago tho 👌🏽🔥
I daily a silver 05, bought it 4 years ago with a blown motor, slapped in a “new” (rebuilt from a builder) one and have put nearly 40k miles on it. Odo shows about 179,000
yea its whatever you want it to be, i daily mine, fuel mileage sucks but you don't get a sports car for that. car has been reliable.
@@AlbertoGomezSE3P update?
Such a beautiful car! 😍
Yessir! Or ma’am
one of the only cars that have 6 rotors 😎🤔
thanks for the video ❤❤❤
Nice video bro..just for the record, wen you change the brake rotors you mast put on it also new brake pads...👌🙂(sorry for the comment,is just one advice for better results)
I have the same color RX8.
I’m doing a mock build of this.
The rpf1 look soooooo good on 8’s
Also, which width rp’s did you get. 9? Or 9.5?
Also some info on the coil overs? They look like teins.
is the brake fluid good for both track use and street use ? I'm looking for multi or dual purpose for tracking and street use for my car.
Dont you need to push the caliper piston back a little to make sure that it doesnt stick to the rotor ?
Hola. Cómo ago para que se quede prendida la bomba de gasolina y los accesorias . Ya no tiene su motor :(
Great video! Do you find thr car very small to drive for your size? How much do you weigh? Looking forward to new video!
Don't just used scissors jack got experience just collapse if no stand put your tire underneath with any timber to prevent scratch on yourmags 👍😊
What are your when specs 😍
Are I able to help buy an rx 8 for me
Always always change rotors and pads together..
Hi I bought my son a spoiler online for his 2005 RX8 and it did not fit. Any suggestions or links to get one like the one on your car I would greatly appreciate.
I think you installed them backwards
Left when inside the car you installed it on the right side
Def needs an 18 in wheel. Too small for that curvy body
My eyes hur when you change rotors or take them of you clean the hub and rotor. If you are unlucky its like running a warped rotor. So please everyone clean the hub where they mate before reinstalling.
Wait isn’t that the right side?
Most time i Like your Videos but Left right swapped? this is the right side ... hub, contact surface not cleaned! no new brake pads?
you dont need that screw, the ONLY purpose of that screw it to hold it on while it is being built down the production line.
What model rx8 is yours
Jesse Stenner it's a gen 1 probably 2004
You actually have the slot position incorrect. The slots should look like \ on the wheels, not /. The rotor you put on the passenger side is for the driver side.
Also, you really should replace the brake pads when changing the rotors at the same time.
you'd think so but actually the slot orientation is correct. You can look at other performance cars that come with slotted rotors, the slot is oriented into the rotation.
@@PeterArmour You think so? ua-cam.com/video/krLOy90KrvY/v-deo.html
For Christ’s sake get some axle stands before you hurt yourself
Mate wtf??? When we change brake rotors we change also brake pads!!!
He said in the video the pads have been upgraded previously and have plenty of life
on them
no worries my guy. I replaced my brake pads last year with hawk hp plus pads. They only have 1 track day on them and have tons of life left
