Toyota Tacoma's to AVOID

- While the Tacoma is generally known for its reliability and strong performance, some model years have had more issues than others. Im going to reveal which Toyota Tacoma model years to avoid and why, with sources to back it up.
On the other hand, the all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma marks a significant update since its previous generation from 2016. Despite its age, the 2023 Tacoma outperformed rivals like the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, and Nissan Frontier in 2022. This success is partly due to its wide range of models, which expands further with the 2024 addition of TRD PreRunner and Trailhunter trims.
Notably, the 2024 Tacoma introduces the I-Force Max hybrid powertrain, making it the only gas-electric hybrid midsize pickup besides the smaller Ford Maverick. This hybrid offers more power, torque, and likely better fuel economy, becoming the standard in TRD Pro and Trailhunter models and an option for other trims.
The redesigned Tacoma improves driving ergonomics with a raised front seat and longer steering column. It also features a smoother-riding multilink coil-spring rear suspension in most double cab models, crisper four-wheel disc brakes, and an electronic brake booster. For manual transmission enthusiasts, the Tacoma retains a six-speed manual with enhancements like rev-matching, anti-stall technology, and a clutch start cancel feature. Additionally, the 2024 Tacoma includes towing aids like a trailer brake controller and back-up guidance.

the tacoma to avoid is the 2024, for far too many reasons
Had a 2006 Pre-runner V6 Auto Access Cab.. Owned the truck for over 10 years. No engine problems. No Transmission Problems -A very reliable Truck. I sold it with 138,000 miles on it.
for only $56,349 this 4 cylinder that only gets 20 mpg and a cardboard grill can be yours. Plus if you have children under 6, they can actually fit in the back seats.
You jealous? It's a great Truck and I can fit 4 adults with all their Ski Gear with zero issues... You genuinely are spewing garbage information...
@@Tungstenisw no hate here, to each his own, my brother owns a Ram, so I don't expect everyone to use logic and reason, but hey, enjoy that 4cyl $60,000 taco.
@@TungsteniswYour ignorance is why Toyota gets away with their ridiculous price tags and junk that they offer on their entire new line up! And the back seats barely fit anyone!
@@BabakPA you obviously haven't even been in a 2024 Tacoma....I'm done feeding the Trolls bye
@@Tungstenisw I have zero intention to be in this junk! As I said this trucks are meant for people like you and rich UA-camrs who get their share of benefits from Toyota! $65k for a pro? Have you all lost your minds?
Avoid the 2024. Its the 1st year of a new design.
Love my 2024 this truck is awesome
Definitely!
Yes please avoid it I own one and I hate it
I’ll stick to my 95 Tacoma thanks

So what your saying is Toyota is taking care of a problem before it effects too many consumers...Sounds like GM and Ford should be taking notes.
Click bait title. Will never visit this channel again.
I agree, this is been paid by toyota to make tacoma look good.
Not a real honest review
I love my 2024 Toyota TRD OR. My first Toyota ever and I think it has a great Price/Value when compared to other comparable mid size Trucks...
I swear, all these negative comments are written by Ford Salepeople who have way to much time on their hands
Have 2023 Tacoma SR5 . Keeping it simple 2 wheel drive No turbo 4 cylinder. Not racing anyone not pulling a horse trailer and i get to where im going with a smile . No issues. Paid $34 thousand out the door with 18 thousand miles on it.
Love the outlet next to the plunge pool
So an infomercial for the new 2024 Tacoma. I suppose Toyota needs to market these trucks harder everywhere since so many are still not selling at the ridiculous price with untested redesigns.
Any final results from the 2-day test?
The frontier has two more cylinders and is cheaper
Gen I and some Gen II had the frame rust. I have a 2015 (Gen II) and Toyota warranted the frame for 12 years. Some Gen Is with 3.4 V6 had head gasket problems. I think the 1GRE-FE (4.0) even had some head gasket failures but pretty rare. My 2015 is supremely reliable, I do all the maintenance myself. FYI the 2024 Tacoma is assembled entirely in Mexico. Most gen III and II were made in Texas with the beds assembled in Mex and Gen I made in California.
Its amazing that the ridiculous exhaust tip has survived the mild off-roading lol
Keeping the v-6 would have been a better upgrade
I had a '19. That V6 was reliable but absolute trash. Literally a Camry engine they shoved into a truck. Zero low end torque, no power unless you revved the hell out of it, and the fuel economy was worse than a full sized truck. Couldn't pull my 3200lb camper up a modest hill at highway speeds. What good is a reliable truck if it can't do things you buy a truck for?
I live near the North Wind River Range in Wyoming. I Had a Taco and it sucked at elevation. Had zero power. I have a Ranger turbo now and it is SO much better. At elevation it doesn't turn to trash and has so much low end torque. I am 70K miles in zero issues. Never ever would I go back to a NA. No damn way.
I would like to see how the V6 would perform with the 8 speed transmission
What you trying to say is look! Previous gen taco had many problems. New one is better~ haha you trying to dilute new gen problems. Taco fan boys are not dumb as you think.
No thank you on the ‘24 version.
Tacoma failed
65k for the pro is nut
Just going to keep my2021 trd pro problems free
Avoid the ones that aren't made in Japan, Yes that would be every single one ever made. The platform is a car, w a bed on the back
If I'm gonna buy a Tacoma truck, I'm going off roading, just mall crawl, I need 4 wheel drive since I live in NYC, as of now I do not have a vehicle I will purchase a 2024 Tacome truck.
There’s really only one to avoid. It’s the 2024…
The 2024 also has numerous DOWN grades. I'll never buy a turbo or hybrid. Toyota lost me as a customer after 4 tacomas.
All of the new ones? 🤷♂️
Literacy note: You don't need an apostrophe in the plural word, Tacomas.
I’ll fix it.
The fuel consumption is not good at all
Ones made in mexico?
What's your issue with Mexican manufacturing? Ford did it Loooooong before Toyota.
That new 2024 tacoma is absolute junk and then they ask to give them a ton of money for junk. Not a smart way to market trucks.
😂
You're just trying to make Tacoma look bad! You just mention that the Toyota is the most reliable Truck and yet maligning . 'Can't believe it! Fan boy here.
