I have a fibreglass 'pencil' with which I brush the gold contacts off on any card I have problems with to ensure the dirt/corrosion is removed. Great video!
And this is the exact reason why I reach for the cleaning supplies before I dig into deeper diagnostics. Even a single speck of dust in the wrong place can keep one of those fingers from making contact
ok, using a noodle machine (got the exact same one!) to flatten the thermal pads, is so simple, yet so genius. gonna do that as well from now on, thanks!
Speaking of Dell 3080s... you should see the abnormality mine has lol. One of the VRM's decided to go nuclear and self destructed as well as melting through the board to the other side lol. My guess is that its well beyond repair lol. I actually plan to send it out to you anyway as a possible donor card (unless you can somehow perform a miracle life saving operation) when i send you this EVGA 3080 that crashes and keeps preventing system boot up. There doesn't appear to be any damage to the pcb or have any missing components so fixing it is beyond my current capabilities.
i cant remember a gpu survive a hole on that place, but who knows. I know someone with same issue, pc turned off the moment detected short, but he tried and tried to turn on, until the card got on fire and pcb melted.
It's now so rare to find pc parts with green pcb like this. I like them, I hate black pcb since they're difficult to see the trace and make repair more difficult.
thats old thing, if you work with computers over years, then memory gold fingers are common issue. air always ontains little oils and junk, that will set on gold fingers oxydize forming plastic like layer. So now you move memory and this one contact will not lane on exact same sport leading issues. Small IPA or acentone(if its really bad) will cure things. Same will go for PCI slot but no acetone there, it will melt.
Weird thing is there's so many prebuilt sellers doing this thing with glue on components. Like glueing ram to the sockets just feels anti consumer when you want to upgrade the prebuilt then the ram or gpu is glued to the slot.
Hope mines an easy fix I'm trying to get a repair from asus for my 3090 strix have been for about 2 weeks now because cards still under warranty until december but they won't fix it unless I can get the person who sold me it last year to send the invoice from when they got it sadly no luck so far from origional seller (feels like asus are trying to avoid a fix tbh) . card boots up no display ,was watercooled but is now back to stock .Core still gets hot .fans all work .Leds light up for power delivery on board all 3 points an when removing them whilst pc is on they light up individually which shows the card knows I removed one of the power inlets so the brains of the card still work I think 🤔 .Doesn't cut out when left on .I think the pcie gold strip's could be a possible issue as to one of the strip's is damaged/warn from water I believe because I had a leak on waterblock beforehand which I fixed with acylic weld (an i mean a really tiny leak that made one litl spec drip smaller than a tear drop travel down board whilst on vertical bracket but i did clean it repasted card applied both blocks, card ran fine with no leaks an great temps). .after putting back together pc it ran fine for 2 hrs then cut out whilst on desktop I had left it running at 19 degrees in idle to get rid of bubbles in loop so It hadn't overheated an highest temps i got was 23 degrees whilst screensaver was active displaying 4k live wallpapers . Really depressed about the whole ordeal tbh it took me over a year to save up for one ,and since because of the minor leak ,but card was still fine an running I got a small loan an purchased two refurbished blocks since that would solve any future leaks ,for it to die 2 hours later that I cannot get a refund for lol so im all ready 160 down on a dead card. Pc was my only way of being social tbh since im disabled .Moderate brain damage .3 strokes .Scoliosis .mobility issues .ptsd .insomnia Edit after closer inspection part of the Gold trip is missing on one lane which could be the issue or possibly just one of the issues
Did you warn the customer that his PCIE port is dirty and it could still present a problem? Might be a bad idea, if they decide to clean it with water.
Hey sir , your the only one i could find that could help me i have an rx580 thats deemed dead it appears in device manager ln linux or windows if your interested to help let me know so i could post the tomshardware forum link
I remember i had a video which is i just washed the gpu by water and its fixed 😅,you even commented on that vid tony . sadly i deleted all that past videos, my bad,
Hey. From your videos I see that each card is drawing around 2A from the 12V external source. Can you please tell me what is the current draw under full load?
I have a palit 3080 I bought second hand recently. It works fine but core temp goes 90 and hit spot goes 100 degrees on high demanding games Should I try to clean it by myself or not risk it and use it like that I've applied thermal paste on gpus before but not on a big one like this or didn't change thermal pads before
i've recently lost a 32kb of memory on my verry old rigit may seem not much to you but to me working w only 16kb makes water go trough me eyesrip zxyou were true
2:10 JayzTwoCents as always on form 😆 I suggest watching a video from him titled "I did a repaste on my Laptop.... did it make a difference?!" how he gave the thermopads with wrong thickness and the heatsink adhered badly, and later a video "I think I made it worse...". how he applies thermal paste to vrams instead of applying thermal putty. How can a person with 4 million subscribers show such amateurism. Someone will use his methods and there will be a cry.
this my typa repair
I wish all repairs would be that easy.😂
lot are actually, if you work with whole computers. Quite ofter good clean of gold contacts will fix things.
obviously the biggest anomaly is the color of the pcb
You sir are a master of the art! Funny and fixing the least obvious problems!
Lol 😂 i was not expecting that. Shots fired at Jay, hilarious 😂.
Yeah the way he mooshed those pads made me laugh 😂

@1:00 You are a quick healer bud! Glad that you rebuilt the base before the end of the episode!
That's what attention to detail and to customer looks like
And this is the exact reason why I reach for the cleaning supplies before I dig into deeper diagnostics. Even a single speck of dust in the wrong place can keep one of those fingers from making contact
Always fun watching your videos !!
I appreciate that!
Finally a simple work, but why so simple if I know I can make it harder
Love how you go from reballing gpu core and fixing broken gpu pads to card had a dirty pin preventing it from working.
I just love it when you upload.
alcohol is fine and dandy but for this type of residue on the gold connectors, I use my handy carpenter pencil. Old school as hell but works!
Beaty! Shot the culprit glued pin.. Excellent diags.. Good work Tony..👍
You are a legend. Even when you get an easy fix you go beyond. Cheers, wish more people ran businesses like you.

@@MrDvneil lol oh shit
Sticky fingers must be happy with that repair 😎🔥🔥
This could have taken ALOT MORE time searching for the issue.
The contents good keep up the good work
M2 SSD undetected the other day. A splash of contact cleaner on both the SSD and M2 slot and all is good once again.
Been here since 1.3k subs. Always loved your content man
I find It really funny that you placed Jay 2 cents there.
I knew a repairman who used to say "Electronics is a science about contacts." when he did such monkey level repairs.
Happy Easter stay safe..................
I did not know that Dell had that card, well I learn something !!
Beautifull repairs
You're the best!

I'm digging your beard man
A quick cameo by Jay.😅
same silicon on every plastic part then use it until it changes then apply some more enjoy it changes how the plastic works
good job from Belgium
Is always the last place you look where you find the problem.
It's so strange to see an old school green PCB hosting a GPU this modern! I guess that probably saved Dell/HP a cent per PCB produced or something.
Good thing you never forget to plug the sense of humor
great job
The first repair I probably could have done. Although I still would have probably fucked it up
Imagine all the cards at the waste (hopefully recycler) cause all it needs is a good ol elbow grease and wax and shine
Always check your pins
😂thank you for you daily dose of humor and education !!! 😂😂😂
Jay applying the thermal paste "SMUSSSH, smussh, smush" 🤣🤣

. card boots up no display ,was watercooled but is now back to stock
.Core still gets hot
.fans all work
.Leds light up for power delivery on board all 3 points an when removing them whilst pc is on they light up individually which shows the card knows I removed one of the power inlets so the brains of the card still work I think 🤔
.Doesn't cut out when left on
.I think the pcie gold strip's could be a possible issue as to one of the strip's is damaged/warn from water I believe because I had a leak on waterblock beforehand which I fixed with acylic weld (an i mean a really tiny leak that made one litl spec drip smaller than a tear drop travel down board whilst on vertical bracket but i did clean it repasted card applied both blocks, card ran fine with no leaks an great temps).

Thanks for the video. How often should we be opening and cleaning our gpus?
It's very nice. Much success, yes.
Great work❤
Welcome back 😂

@northwestrepair thanks alot mate atleast for the hope even if it does not get fixed , replying to me means alot
I can't believe that a transparent glue on the reset pin can possibly be deemed no fix.
I do like the look of the Dell OEM video cards with their green circuit boards.
Using a pencil eraser is very effective while cleaning pci or ram contacts
I remember i had a video which is i just washed the gpu by water and its fixed 😅,you even commented on that vid tony

now ya getting there
Very nice.
Like a pro
Quick Q. How are the temps so low? Is it due to no case? My 3090 @ 350W climbs up to 77-78°C in a closed case with 1 intake and 2 exhaust fans.
so what happen to the 4090 liquid suprim x repair video?
Great 😅🎉
Checking my basement for "dead" GPU's 😎
Pre advert was for Range Rover.
Lol totally related
what is that pads "slicer" u r using?
I still wonder the green, pink etc screen AMD GPU crash issues
Where is the goo coming from? Leaking liquid cooler?
Now I know which pin to check if a graphics card won’t get detected. Mmmm education
Monkey level... Im in.

Make a vedio how to repair gpu step by step
good vid hehe
This makes me regret all the gpus i returned because of no signal
Lol 😆
What's the name of that last test ? Free?
3:19 is your queue boys
What's the song he uses?
Should I replace my thermal pads on my 3080 Ti after about 3 years?
If temperatures say so
And yet, if it would not be fixed, it would make its way to the pile of junk 3-5 years earlier than it will now...
Nice and easy to do 😂
who's a good boy
Why the duck i dont see vrm temp sensors on this newish things? O.o

i use eraser everytime i clean my gpu and ram sticks. hehe works everytime
