I sang this song almost 70 years ago when I made my first solo flight from Chardon Airport (where Best gravel is today) in a Piper J-3 Cub when my flight instructor turned me loose in the sky alone for the first time. Does anyone back there remember Lester Dethloff?
I am listening to this during the Covid-19 pandemic in March of 2021. You have moved me to nostalgic tears remembering two summers in my long-ago youth when I studied music in Switzerland, in happier and more carefree days than these. The yodeling, especially, took me back to the Swiss Alps. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for a moment of shining musical joy amid days of darkness and fear. God bless you!
Appreciate your rendition of the Happy Wanderer. Was Looking for a version like that to work on, The Yodeling is a nice touch. Used to live in Oberlin, OH, worked at FAA Cleveland ARTCC 1968-69; still have cousins in the Cleveland Area. Wish you guys all the success Len C Chico, CA

My father in law loved this song and to polka dance. May we play it at his memorial?

Excellent! Glad we brought back some fun memories, Connie!
When I did standard 4 in 1980, this was done as a poem, reciting the message and singing the chorus.
Me too in Seattle.
I lived in Chardon for 15 years. Never knew it was known for polka!
Love the yodeling during the song.
he's the best!
That was really fun to watch and listen to. I am a Polish American from Chicago and the polka beat had my feet going 👍👍 Great job
As a child I learned this in Germany where my father was working at the time. It brings great joy and memories to me..
I was singing this in my school choir over 40 years ago. It's a lovely song for me, as I am the free-spirited Aquarian. 40 years cannot change it.
Great old song! The whole world should sing this while playing a C harmonica !
The fast shw did such a great sketch base around this.
Thanks for the song. Miss live music
The banjo player is a real kick!!! Nice sound. NH

My favorite rendition of this song!
Good fun
Haven't played a polka since I left Chardon 60 years ago. Would love to sit in one time if I ever get back that way. Abe Sloan, sax.
