Whats your favourite perk in Fallout 4?
Pain Train is amusing if you yell out CHOO CHOO when you charge
LOL I'll tell that next time. Thanks for the advice :)
Mine is the combo of lone wanderer and rooted.
Idiot Savant, because the best perk, is more perks.
Idiot Savant is the top perk for me. Levelling becomes such a grind later on and the game can become a real drag and so having something that speeds up levelling is key. It's also worthwhile even at 10 intelligence for that x5 xp proc. Chem resistant, which I'm surprised you didn't mention, just makes hard fights a breeze to be able to pop chems at will. Chems are OP!!!
Extremely underrated perk for survival mode is aquagirl/boy. You don’t take radiation damage from being in water and level two makes you undetectable to enemies when fully submerged certain areas of the game this is OP
Agree. Using waterways to get around in Survival Mode is amazing.
But then it makes the game too easy
It’s crazy I see so many vids say this is like one of the worst perks but I always make sure to get it. There isn’t a level cap in fallout 4, might as well try to get all perks
Too bad you still get sick. Also ever heard of bridges?
@@littleal7526 No you don't get sick using water to get around if you take the Aquaboy perk. That's the point.
Dude... so refreshing to get an Aus accent describing all this. In an era where there's fk all games to play, to come back to FO4 and get some Perk advice from an AU where there's no bs just quick talking information... keeps people watching. Lots can learn from your vids. Will be checking out more and giving the thumbs up, cheers for not wasting my time with bs..
For me at the beggining - hacker, locksmith & scrounger skills are more important than mods crafting. I can use gun and armor mods that i find on enemies and in containers
The main time to consider Gun Nut IMO is if you're running a pistol build and need lots of .44 ammo. You'll need ranks of Gun Nut to craft the ammo yourself. Otherwise you're stuck with whatever you can get from unlisted vendors like Eleanor. I'll admit is fun, if dangerous, to have Missile Launcher turrets though. For those I suggest putting a screen of some sort behind them so they cannot target into your Settlement.
You only want crafting if using heavy weapons or melee.
You can find mods everything else easily enough
What good is lockpicks? Generic loot.
Hacking sometimes unlocks a back entrance only useful for a sneak build.
Scrounger only useful for rate anno types.
I love how wildly varying which perks youtubers think are the best. My fave perk is probably either grim reaper or consentrated shot.
Its really more that certain builds exist, that have synergy between perks, and there are a lot of them. I think any of the advice is probably sound, given that is the playstyle you are going for.
Given how variable builds and advice can be, I focus advice on those with a lower SPECIAL requirement that are generally useful: Armorer for early Dense mods then Ballistic Weave and Mk VI pieces of power armor, Demo. Expert for throwing arcs to yeet Molotovs like a trebuchet and how the AoE boost interacts with the Two-Shot effect on the Big Boy, Locksmith since it pays for its own XP cost and I am not waiting for Cait or limiting myself to that companion, Sneak to avoid setting off random mines and get extra Sneak Attack damage, one point in Scrounger to add ammo to thousands of containers in the game.
@@XoRandomGuyoX I find I damage myself more than the enemies, when I try to use Molotovs. Could be a skill issue, lol...
Grim reaper is awesome
@@XoRandomGuyoXsounds like a all 4s special is the build for you.
Waterboy is OP. Not only was it a great movie but the perk is great too. The waterways become highways especially after getting the ability to swim faster. At any difficulty this perk pays off big time.
@@khaki_man Nahh man its great especially on higher difficulty. On survivor mode I would say its a must have perk. The water is safe. The water is friendly. You can swim to places faster than you can walk. If there is water nearby you have an escape route.
@@khaki_man At what level though? Its hard to even find anything useful, once you get up over 100.
I cannot understand the reasoning of those that object to this perk. Many of these objectors will fall all over themselves to use glitches and bugs to get ahead but wouldn't touch this perk with a 10-foot pole. I feel they must get an extra thrill out of using something like the old-fashioned CHEAT CODES of early video games. This perk is not a glitch or bug and is a must have for me. I travel all over the Commonwealth and water in many cases is a faster and safer path to travel. If I am over encumbered, you better believe I will take a 2 minute rad-free swim to get to a place that would take me 20 or more minutes to arrive at by walking and avoiding pools of radiation along the road. But then, I have the OPTION to take that road if I figure to gather more loot to heap on my already over encumbered back.
This is only useful on survival difficulty if u upgrade scince one time just make water purifiers boom now not only do u have a profitable item that automatically stocks u no longer need aquaboy n u can just ignore water but on survival ion know ion play that too much
@@elijahgomez9080 You don't need any points in science to make the basic water purifier, and you can get more water from using multiple basic purifiers, than the upgraded ones, over a given area of space. The big ones give 40 water, but you can fit more than 4 small ones in the same footprint, that give 10 water each.
Some sort of priority order would have been useful. This is basically a list of everything this dude has acquired at level 104. So useless if your level 10. 🙄
Just pick whatever feels like would help you most and experiment. But if you want a "shopping list", here you go:
• lone wanderer - all around, the best perk in the game
• idiot savant - even with high inteligence it's pretty good, but not 100% necessary
• armorer - better armor, die less
• aquaboy/girl - op as hell when you start to travel across the map for quests
• lifegiver - maxxes out early, nice hp regen
• strongback - self explanatory
Other than these, pick weapon damage perks (rifleman, commando, ...) and either sneak-based perks or damage resistance/AP regen perks depending on your playstyle.
Notable perks are
• blitz and rooted (for melee builds)
• chemist/party boy (for drugs and alcohol)
• local leader
• attack dog (if you are not planning on using any companion besides the dog)
• gun nut/science/other crafting perks
- these are mostly focused on survival mode, if you are any lower, you can get by with pretty much whatever -
Really sounding like a cry baby 😂 want him to play the game for you too?
@@happypigeonproductions8633 Not at all. Just want his output to be more useful. Unlike your contribution which is utterly pointless.
@@happypigeonproductions8633You can always tell the 12 year olds! They call people cry baby’s! Doh!
@@happypigeonproductions8633Happy my ass! Another meaningless comment that contributes nothing.
Should have mentioned that you can save and reload mission turn ins until idiot savant triggers giving you 5x EXP for all missions.
I always use lone wanderer and dog meat I hate companions even dog meat bugs me sometimes they just get in the way lol and bloody mess is another one I love . I really don't do specific builds jjst cuz you will end up with all perks at some point so I kinda spread out my perks as I level up.
Yeah that’s almost the best way to play. Just invest in perks that *you* think is best for your play through. I invested in a super wide range of perks but after lvl 20+ you kind of understand what you need to invest in and what you don’t.
Ya I invest mostly str foe carry capacity and any damage for my weapons .
False advertisement: quick tip for people if using dog meat he works with lone wander perk cause dog meat is not counted as a follower so if your using dm lone wander works with him and attack dog perk helps buff him
thanks for this, i am doing a charisma/intelligence build and just got to diamond city
I never used to get the last few perks in Strong Back, then I tried it. It essentially makes your inventory infinite.
How are they on survivor though? Isn't one linked to fast travel?
@@PandyBongOn survival? Hope you’re not to fond of your knees. You start taking damage if you’re overburdened on survival. Love the perk but you might want to be cautious with it on survival.
Lead Belly might not be as high of a priority on Survival because of the interaction that removes all ‘secondary food effects’ when you are hungry: this ends up including Radiation. You can technically wait until you are Peckish (first level of hunger) to eat irradiated food for effectively free.
Best perks, listed nearly all of them.
Critical hits perk still works outside of vats, as you can crit in normal combat. Combo that with overdrive and bufftatts drugs and you just start blowing down enemies
Great vid, i needed a perk breakdown. At first it’s super overwhelming if you don’t know this stuff
Glad it helped!
That's funny. I was never overwhelmed by the perk chart. Perhaps that is because I took the time to read it and still refer to it as necessary.
Personally, and probably most like everyone else, i just pick special based on what perks i want.
You didn't even mention Penetrator in Perception... Easily one of the best skills... you can 1 shot most if not ALL Robots because you can target the Power Core for full damage. I have 1 shot all robots since getting this perk.
Ohhh nice!
There's a fun glitch with VATS where you have a split second to get a 1% hit chance on a Sentry Bot's core while the camera zooms in, which is important because you can use a Critical to guarantee a hit and kill on the Bot.
Not useful to a non VATs build though
Love your videos bro. You've been really killing it with the content.
Thank you so much mate! I really appreciate it 🙏
Started playing fallout 4 or the fallout series for that matter for the first time a few days ago, amazing game.
Since you are more than likely only heavily investing in END for survival get Solar powered, Rank 1 Aqua Boy (and +25% swim speed mag) and Adamantium Skeleton and Chem Resistant. DO NOT get Leadbelly, Lifegiver or Ghoulish they are either bugged or moot when you take the other perks. Once again only recommended for Survival
Blitz and sneak combo is op and i love it
add Rooted for the OP power trio
to say it clearer Dogmeat doesnt count as having ana active companion
in my opinion the Intelligence Perks are the best.
Survival is different. It might as well be a different game as I do not use the same perks. I like Int & luck the most.
Thanks for the upload. Nice to have a not 5 year old perk explanations video. I havent touched Fo4 in a while and i figured i should look into it before i get to far into mt character
Carry weight? Companions are just fine.
if you dont want to use points on lockpicking, you can recruit Cait early game in combat zone , since she can open anything. Ginger Rulez!
In New Vegas I always used alcohol to boost my carry weight cause I was always carrying alot of stuff lol
Cool note for Charisma. If you get it to 12 either with chems or clothing bonuses, you will pass any speech check
Edit: Another cool note. Dogmeat does not count as a companion against the Lone Wander perk.
I'm pretty sure it's if you get it past 10.
I gotta say this is not the best advice: awareness, leadbelly, ghoulish, and solar powered are all pretty bad.
Of those, I usually consider Solar Powered as a level 50+ capstone once I've otherwise finalized my build for a character. The extra health to get there is handiest at that point anyway.
It’s not even a breakdown of the “best” perks per the title it’s just an explanation of every single one
What character build is your favourite? mine is sneaky sniper🤣
My favorite is drug fueled melee. Psychojet + Baseball bat = Hella fun.
I haven't done a drug melee build before, sounds fun!
I go the opposite route, having a fully perked out Big Boy launcher from Arturo(the AoE boost from Demo. Expert actually multiplies with the Two-Shot effect) to drop entire groups with one shot. Combat Shotguns provide decent mid-range damage while I do keep the Deliverer on hand for stealth against trash mobs.
@@XoRandomGuyoX Hahaha thats awesome, i dont know why i tried to do a build something similar like go loud on everything but i just tend to go sneaky😭
@@norzzahow about a drunk junkie grognak build?
4 str, 7 end, 7 Chr, 7 int, use special book on 8 Charisma
Companion like strong and use Cait to unlock the axe.
Dirty wastelanders give 6 str with party boy,
psycho buff and buff tats give 130 hp. And 25% damage.
Fury for 50% melee damage and the famous yaoi gui roast for 500% damage.
Two leg pieces that increase movement speed.
Just run in swinging.
I get my stats to 11 before any other perk investments. I gotta.
I'm currently level 17 in survival mode. It's difficult, tense and just awesome.
Do you find it a pain not being able to save when ever you like, or is it not that bad
Me too lvl 20
@@user-ib1gr8qo3wat times I do, but if you make it a habit to travel between settlements and sleep, or find a bed, then it ain’t that bad and kinda makes it even more immersive. Still, id rather prefer at least the saving ability. Survival options mod corrects this
Get the Water Boy perk and the ability to swim faster. It might be the most important survival mode perk!
Level 19 myself, one of the hardest gaming experiences I’ve ever had at the start
I want the damage boost that Bloody Mess gives but I really don't like the exploding enemies. Wish I could turn that off.
Good video
Glad you enjoyed!
& endurence gives more health which is mega inportant
Endurance is useless IMO (unless you're playing survival) just get medic to level 3 and the life giver perk is redundant. Every other perk in Endurance is situational at best.
Led belly obviously
Doesn't dogmeat still come with you when you are lone wanderer? You can increase attack dog and lone wanderer with no penalties...or am I thinking of a different Fallout?
That's Fallout 4. For the purposes of Lone Wanderer, Dogmeat does not count as a companion.
My favourite perk is , Scavenger, dead silence and blind eye
Great perks!
You must be thinking of another game. Those aren't Fallout 4 perks.
@@edmartin875 ok
Scrapper makes modding guns so much easier. Can be a pain searching for items when you're desperate for a new gun mod. The fact you're talking about perks for any build and don't mention chem resistant makes the list void anyway. Chem resistant makes tough fights a breeze and is so OP to use drugs at will, which are easy to find/buy/make
Chemist is the better pick over Chem Resistant. At high levels being able to keep multiple samples of Overdrive will ramp up your damage to Super Mutant Warlords and other infinitely scaling enemies. You can stack the effect with Biocom Mesh on your torso armor and have Metal limb armor hold one each of a Dense and Padded mod(only Metal can use these on the limbs).
@@XoRandomGuyoX What we agree on is that chems are OP. The argument for why chem resistant is the better perk is SPECIAL economy and what SPECIAL trees they sit in. If you're going an intelligence route then I'd agree chemist being worthwhile but this isn't a route I or many others would go as idiot savant is my top pick and I don't want high int. I go ballistic weave and have no use for high int as idiot savant is the quicker way to level. Chem resistant sits at 4 levels of endurance and majority of builds will have at least 4 end or hit it pretty quick. You only need two perk points to get complete immunity to chem addiction which cancels any negatives and I have sooooo many drugs that I want to use. There's no reason for me to go 7 in int and spend 4 perk points when I can pop chems at will with no downside
Everyone should just play the game and look around. Have some ocd and build everything you can and make the most caps as possible 😂
I'm OCD when it comes to loot, which is needed for building and crafting.
My biggest want is point reset for mid point
Do a hard save just before entering the elevator after being frozen. Then you can always create a new character changing nothing but your name and point allocation. (You can change anything/everything you created prior to the tutorial if you wish.) Now you don't have to go thru the tutorial for each new character creation, but still have the option of going back to run thru the vault for anything you may have missed previously.
If you insist on the original name, after creating a first new character, delete your original character with the name you want to keep and create a second new character with the preferred name but keeping the first new character points. Then go back an delete your first new character with the wrong name.
@edmartin875 yea I meant further into the game if they made like a mirror or something u could reallocate with or barber chair maybe or u could make a beverage/chem even
Best perk is every perk 😂
my favorite percs are 30s!
Never heard of 30s perks. Must be some kind of mod. My perk chart only goes to 10.
If only Bethesda cared as much about fallout 4 as the player base does.
What does that even mean, "care about the game"? Like...making the game isn't enough, they have to also have emotions tied to it? Why? Why not just wish they would fix the bugs instead? Their feelings don't write code, their feelings don't set the bug fix development budget.
Or any of their games lol
@@Tijuanabillfirst off. Calm down. Second off, if they had feelings tied to the game then they would care enough to fix the games bugs and finalize the code until it’s smooth as butter
@@Tijuanabill You seem to be in a "piss and moan" mood. Get over yourself.
@@nandimoozle703 What on earth made you think I'm not calm? I'm sitting in my house. This is not a high stress situation, so that's just weird gas lighting.
No, the bugs get fixed or not fixed, based on corporate decisions about manpower resources. Its not apathy preventing them, its corporate f*ckery, obviously. Even if they didn't "care", whatever that even means, they could still just order someone to do the thing, if t hey thought it would make them more money.
Check out my mod: make perks great again. Its a huge rebalance trying to buff bad perks. Want to see ghoulish, lead belly or aquagirl good? Check it out then.
Solid advertising.
I'm not a Mod Whore. I use a max of 3 mods. P99 is a little better 10mm pistol for early game. Glowing dead targets for help in finding my loot. And My Jetpak for use without Power Armor to avoid most crashes by traveling via the rooftops.
Lead belly is a waste of perk points even in survival. Radiation is dumb and easy to negate.
Especially with the Decontamination Arch from the DLC. Even at level 1 you can scrounge parts for it and always reduce your Rads to 1 out of 1,000.
can we get a video on what perks are not worth maxing out like how idiot savant is best at level 2 as 3 gets rid of the random extra xp and gives a worse killing xp
All you gotta do is READ the perks before clicking to activate. If that is too tough for you, maybe you are in the wrong game.
@@edmartin875 yeah but some don't work as written this is a Bethesda game were talking about, also you don't need to be an AH about it
How the heck do you get to the perk table your showing ? I’m lvl 10 but go to pip boy and select perks but nothing
Scroll down lol
Depends on where you're playing. When you open the pip boy, press triangle on PlayStation , Y on Xbox or T on PC.
Every time you level up you get one perk point.
Great game
Nerd rage with unyielding armor. God mode with no mods or hacks.
You ain't God so if you want God mode you will have to cheat with mods and hacks.
I’m gonna run a “Millie” build
I love 'mily' builds!
Locksmith and Hacker are NOT a must. Cait can pick ANY lock and Nick can hack ANY terminal. The loot in safes is not that good most of the time anyways.
Lesd Belly is useless even on Survival Mode - just cook your food and take Radaway from time to time you will do it anyway.
The Luck perks from Luck 4 to 9 are all top tier and even if you don't use VATS you should get Bloody Mess and Idiot Savant.
If you run a VATS build high Perception is not essential but I would recommend to start with 10 Perception that you can increase to 11 with the bobblehead found in Concord and to 12 wearing eyeglasses. Later on using VANS you can increase it to 14 giving you incredible accuracy.
Armorer is essential for any build.
You should start out with either 4 or 8 Charisma depending on wether you want to use Dogmeat (4) or other companions (8). I highly recommend using the "Everyone's best friend" - originally Bethesda intended you to have both Dogmeat + one companion with you and even has special dialogue implemented but it was cut from the game. This mod restores this mechanic. If you have only Dogmeat takevthe Lone Wanderer and Attack Dog perks, if you have other companions take the Inspirational perk. Also don't sleep on the Party Boy/Girl perk - it is a GREAT substitute if you have a low Luck stat.
High Intelligence is advised as basically all the perks are usefull - yes EVEN VANS! Especially you should get the Robotics Expert perk which almost completely trivialises encounters with Sentry Bots and Assaultrons.
Agility is pretty usefull but not essential not even for a VATS build. Just get the Gunslinger Perk (1 Agility needed) and use the Perception and Luck perks instead and either Kellogg's Pistol or the Righteous Autority Rifle - this combination will carry you through the entirety of the game.
Endurance is a dump stat.
If you want to do a Sneak build forget about anything above 5 Luck and don't waste any points into Perception - just give yourself 9 Agility, the Blitz perk and have a Strength of at least 4 to increase damage and be able to mod your melee weapons. Invest into the Sneak perk and Ninja Perk.
A high Charisma stat is NOT needed for bartering or speech checks. As I stated above you should have at least 4 Charisma and using a hat, black rim glasses, Reginald's Suit/Agatha's dress plus drinking a beer (very common item) you will have 11 Charisma which grants you a 100% success chance in speech checks. If you look out for the Junktown Jerky Vendor magazines you will max out your bartering which is capped at 80% efficiency (selling prizes = 80% buying prizes = 120%)
Jesus, Awareness? That would be my last two points at level 286.
Aaaargh, also Lead Belly?! Are you fucking trolling here? That perk is almost completely nullified by Astoundingly Awesome Tales issue #10, though you need to have a trip to the Glowing Sea to get it. But anyway, if you are playing survival, then you should cook food in the first place, and not eat the shite ones.
Yeah, you are trolling. GHOULISH of all things, AFTER Solar Powered which will practically keep you at 0 rad damage?! Please do not make videos about games you are absolutely noob in.
Great for new players
Bro is punching air rn
As and american, I'll never get over the Hache-P
Never heard of it.
Lead Belly has a very strong case for being the absolute worst perk in the game. It's cruel of you to tell these new players to take it💀
LIfegiver is one of the worst perks there is.
I suspect that in the early game an extra 20, 40, or 60, HP may come in handy on occasion.
Wish they would have changed the perk system to 76 by far the best system in any Bethesda game
Starting out with 1 in every stat is stupid
It just me or he saying straight not strength
Lead belly pointless, life giver pointless
Yikes, what a waste of perks
Can you sound any more bogen
You don’t need strength lmfao
This is just a list of perks. Misleading clickbait.
I knew when the fallout upgrade dropped all these cringy 'content creators' would come out of nowhere to make these dumb little videos lmao
Cringy? Why? Are we gate keeping who is allowed to make Fallout videos now?
@@PeaceLove69 Make all the videos you want but don't try to convince me you are an expert in everything new or changed on day one.
& endurence gives more health which is mega inportant
Looks like you are trying to convince yourself.
Whut the hecks my comment copyed many times this has never happened before
