My Top 25: 1) Oregon (8-0) Best team in the country, enough said although I won't forget the sluggishness in the Idaho game they had 2) Georgia (6-1) Lost to Bama in a wild finish but has a win over Texas by 2 possessions on the road. Questionable game against Kentucky. 3) BYU (8-0) Undefeated but almost lost to Oklahoma State at home 4) Penn State (7-0) Undefeated but has looked shaky and not very dominant in some of their games (UCLA and Illinois home games in particular) 5) Indiana (8-0) Undefeated but still needs a Top 25 win or a very close loss to Ohio State to solidify their legitimacy 6) Miami (8-0) Needs Duke to look solid and to play into the Top 25 and to beat them to have a quality win on the year 7) Pittsburgh (8-0) Undefeated, played Cal and Cincy close but a win against Clemson will solidify their legitimacy 8) Notre Dame (7-1) Lost to NIU but has wins against A&M and Navy, which are two quality wins 9) Texas A&M (7-1) Blew out Mizzou and got a solid win against LSU but lost to ND at home by 2 possessions 10) Texas (7-1) Lost to Georgia by 2 possessions at home and allowed Vandy to keep it close 11) Ohio State (6-1) Has a close 1 point loss against Oregon (the best loss of the season so far) but allowed Nebraska to take the game down to the wire 12) Tennessee (6-1) Lost to Arkansas (not a great loss considering Arkansas got blown out by LSU at home) but did beat Bama by one score at home 13) Iowa State (7-0) Undefeated but doesn't have a Top 25 win. Needs to beat KSU in the last game of the regular season 14) Boise State (6-1) Has the 2nd best loss in the country with a 3 point road loss at Oregon and has wins over Wazzu and UNLV 15) SMU (7-1) Kept it close with BYU and barely beat Duke (who is underrated this year). Has a win against Louisville but not a Top 25 team. 16) Army (7-0) Has blown out their opponents but are not facing quality opponents. Need to beat Notre Dame and Navy to solidify legitimacy. 17) Alabama (6-2) Has a win over Georgia but lost on the road at Vandy and kept it close with South Carolina. Also lost to Tennessee by one score but blew out Mizzou. 18) Clemson (6-1) Although offense looks good after week 1, the Georgia loss cannot be overlooked as well as the fact that they don't have any Top 25 wins. 19) LSU (6-2) Lost to USC in week 1 by one score. Has a win over Ole Miss in OT and a blow out win against Arkansas but has a loss to Texas A&M by 2 scores on the road. 20) Washington State (7-1) Did get blown out by Boise State but does have a win against Texas Tech. Not a strong enough schedule but a quality team nevertheless. 21) Kansas State (6-1) Overrated AF, barely beat Kansas and got clobbered by BYU 38-9. Most impressive win is against Colorado, who lost to Nebraska 28-10. 22) Ole Miss (6-2) Lost to Kentucky at home (really bad loss) and to LSU in OT but does have a good win against South Carolina on the road. Still needs a Top 25 win. 23) Navy (6-1) A 2 score win against Memphis but a bad blowout loss to Notre Dame 51-14. 24) Memphis (7-1) Highest quality win is a home win against North Texas. Has a 2 score loss to Navy. Needs a win against Tulane and a conference championship win to possibly be considered for the playoffs. 25) Illinois (6-2) Lost to Penn State by 2 scores and got blown out by Oregon but did beat Nebraska (something Colorado wasn't able to do).
