I'm not a heavy drinker but the day he was murdered I got drunk.I haven't been drunk since. It affected me horribly. He was still fighting the fight while many of us black people went on about our daily business. Meanwhile he was still be persecuted with all our weight on his shoulders! I still cry I still cry. I'm in the fight to and I will never stop until it is my time to leave here!

The fact that Dr Huey was illiterate as a teen yet went on to earn a PhD and change the American landscape by starting the BPP and incorporating the breakfast programme that has helped millions and millions of children, amongst MANY other things, and he never lived to see his 50th earth strong just shows us what an amazing man he was. To go from being systemically ignored by society, to a revolutionary threat to America, and by extension the world, while enacting sweeping change will never not blow my mind. Rest in Peace, Huey P. Thank you for everything.

@@dizmop I don't believe you are black. That 'racist barriers' seems sus to me. And referring to what we face as a mirage has me side eyeing you because gentrification and red lining and antiblk hiring practices and your dismissal of why Dr Huey was illiterate in the first place, are definitely not a mirage.
I fully believe Huey P himself would take issue with your statement.

At the time he was just released and he moved into my mom's rental unit. I use to just enjoy his conversations with me and how great of a beautiful soul he was. Man the day he was killed it hurt me to the core as I felt I had just lost a older brother. That's what he was and meant to me. Love you big bro. R.I.P. to filmmaker and television producer Henry Hampton, who made this interview happen, he was the chief producer of the critically acclaimed PBS documentary series, "Eyes On The Prize" 1 and 2 series, "The Great Depression" series, "Malcolm X: Make It Plain" among others. Parts of this interview appears in "Eyes on the Prize 2". HH work is deeply missed by all of us who have a great interest in history. Bobby Seale co-founder of "The Black Panther Party" said during a book signing that I attended, that Huey P. Newton was clean and sober when this important interview was conducted.

I was a little girl when Huey was murdered, I always loved how they stood for our people, cared for the community, made changes when the government wouldn't give us any resources or options for a better living. We still need our history told today, better education, Healthcare, quality of life, equity, and safe policing. Things have gotten better, thanks to the BPP, they risked their lives for us to live better, and today we throw it away for riches, and the love of material items. We still have a long way to go, happy this is on UA-cam so today's generation can understand the struggle.

And don't stop there then your degree allowed you to apply for jobs and get a government position which allowed you to move out the black community and spend your earnings with the very sane people that actually hate black people. Your degree didn't free you, no education from the oppressor frees the slave! You now are enslaved by debt, symbolism and material wealth, or the effort to gain, cause with all your degrees and education, you are still a nigga on time, living from check to check...The Program set forth by Elijah Muhammed is the only plan that can free the black man and women, Anything else is full of sellouts and opportunists and government informants...

Even after all he'd been through at this point in his life, his eyes were sparkling with the profound intelligence of what could have been, what should have been, and the (almost) unspeakable heartbreak of what was.

      Hello
Something I have been in search for quite sometime is a connection with somebody that goes beyond vanity. It's very hard to do in this day and age. People can be, somewhat very superficial.
On my quest to achieve this I have learnt a lot about human nature. It seems to me that those who are not given traits such as beauty or being wealthy are some of the nicest, kindest and generous people.
While the "gorgeous" and well off seem to be the most arrogant and greedy people out there. Of course that's not to say there aren't beautiful kind people out there.
I've been in the process of change for a while now and I have made some decent changes but don't you just hate it when people can't let go of your past mistakes.
I saw your profile and it intrigued me. I wanted to learn more about who you are and what type of path you would like on in life.
      Can we talk?

As I was growing up I heard a lot about Mr Newton from my parents and just being observant doing that time. Even when Fred Hampton was Slaughtered by the Chicago police. Just to let you know the Universe is working on our behalf. They are fighting amongst themselves.Soon we will be free.
