Oh, I read the novel this was based on. I thought it was an interesting twist. Getting blamed for the wrong murders and having erased evidence that would have served as an alibi.

Funnily enough, scenerio sounds a lot like some sartre stories. It's the decision changes people, not the success. People can commit suicide multiple times even in prison xD

Huh, I always kind of saw it as an absurdist, almost pessimistic movie.
Sure, it's a movie where faith is inescapable, but I never realized it was a reactionary view.

I hear you, but honestly renegade cut is right. For instance, just think of authority in this film, how the law figures every single thing down to the smallest detail and everyone is given their exact sentence. It’s like a universe without nihilism or pessimism, in which all people operate purposefully within the machine whether they like it or not.

I love how I can rewatch these videos over and over, sometimes years apart, and still enjoy them and learn new things. These videos have great depth.

If you hadn't told us about the writer, I would've thought the movie was about delayed karma

goddamn dude, thank you so much for making this, i had no idea who Louis Malle was and Zazie Dans le metro made me like him a bit, but then i saw the criticism for Pretty Baby, and now this... i am not sure how i'm going to approach him on my upcoming exam on film theory because dude was pretty fucked up as it seems.

Still considered by many as a great film noir and an essential part of the french new wave film movement are you sure your not reading to much into it. Which begs the question what is you opinion on Film Noir in general

In Europe there's a beautiful Louis Malle bluray boxset published by Artificial Eye in the UK.

Sorry, but no. I've actually said on social media a few times that this won't be happening this year.

My head is spinning, and spinning, and spinning. But, I think, I'm quite sure I understand. I'm not an existentialist; I'm a traditionalist: well hybrid-traditionalist: in that I believe the universe is in fact programmable.
