This movie and BBC mini-series from 2006 are both my favorite adaptations of the novel Jane Eyre. I periodically watch the highlights from both movies:) These two actresses - Ruth Wilson and Mia Wasikowska - are both perfect Jane Eyre, each in their own way. Since in each movie the task was set and the general atmosphere was set by the director, according to his (her) idea each actress interpreted her role. In Fukunaga's film I feel the atmosphere of Russian classics, as I understand it - everyone is tortured himself and tortures the other, but everything happens very beautifully, in beautiful, historically accurate costumes and interiors, with perfectly staged mise-en-scenes, perfect light, color and castings.
One of the most tragic most beautiful most compelling most dramatic most satisfying novels ever written. And this movie does it justice!❤❤❤
I red the book so many times as a teenager and this is my favourite adaptation. They manage to capture the tragedy so well
Loved this movie I have to say that of all the Jane Eyre moves that have been made this one stands out above them all Thank you for sharing 👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️

It's NOT a "tragic" love story.

I’d love to see McConaughey in the role if Mr. Rochester, it could be as good as with Dalton.
