  • Check out one of the most harrowing but beautiful love stories of all time; the tragic romance between Jane Eyre (Mia Wasikowska) and Mr Rochester (Michael Fassbender).
Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) and Academy Award® winner Judi Dench (Shakespeare in Love) star in acclaimed director Cary Fukunaga's daring new adaptation of the timeless romance. When orphaned governess Jane Eyre (Wasikowska) arrives at imposing Thornfield Hall, she's intrigued by her brooding wealthy employer, Rochester (Fassbender). His dark moods and the strange occurrences in the house lead her to discover a terrible secret that he had hoped to hide from her forever.

This movie and BBC mini-series from 2006 are both my favorite adaptations of the novel Jane Eyre.
I periodically watch the highlights from both movies:)
These two actresses - Ruth Wilson and Mia Wasikowska - are both perfect Jane Eyre, each in their own way. Since in each movie the task was set and the general atmosphere was set by the director, according to his (her) idea each actress interpreted her role.
In Fukunaga's film I feel the atmosphere of Russian classics, as I understand it - everyone is tortured himself and tortures the other, but everything happens very beautifully, in beautiful, historically accurate costumes and interiors, with perfectly staged mise-en-scenes, perfect light, color and castings.

It's NOT a "tragic" love story.

I’d love to see McConaughey in the role if Mr. Rochester, it could be as good as with Dalton.
