It's great that you liked Riga, but you barely saw it, like, 10% of it. At least from what you showed in the vlogs. I guess in these kind of situations, having a local show you around or recommend the most local like places to see & feel the true character of the country, city would've been the best option. And,lol, if you had walked some 15-20 minutes more you would've found the lively part of the city again XD I guess I'd say you should just come again and explore some of the more folk-like places and definitely outside Riga as well :) Nevertheless, glad you liked of Riga what you did see. Also, if you want to see true Latvian spirit, should come around 23-25 June, when the summer solstice is celebrated or when we have song & dance festivals in summer, now that would be truly eye opening :D
The area you stopped with at about 6:00 is actually near a local youth culture center - about 200-300 metres to the left from that church, there are several clubs, sort of a party/urban district, and a bit further Skanste district with sports halls and modern apartments. Riga can give you wrong impressions, often there are slums behind pretty facades and very creative places behind ugly or empty streets.
Today (the day you posted this video) Latvia elected its first Jewish president! (first Latvian woman prez back in '99.) RIga is only part of the Latvian story. Its like if a European came to the States and ONLY spent time in NYC. Thereš alot more to the story! don't miss the magic of the countryside..its straight up game of thrones/Tolkien out here!!! castles...mythology....RIga ain't nothin!! -Chicagoan keeping it real in rural LV.
These were so nostalgic to watch, thanks for posting. I lived in riga for 8 years ( I'm american) and now I live in the uk (passed 10years) I was showing my kids where I lived for so long and you showed such an honest view of the city. It's a shame you didnt get to see some of the amazing historical sites while you were there though! Cheers p.s were the " pirogi" not actually pelimeni ?
And suddenly when no one expected Luke Has reached 500vlogs mark! Congrats mate for making this content for such a long time .. its almost 2yrs while im following u. My little Anna when she's watching u says : Lu! Lu! Cause she's just starting to speak 😎😊 this time goes by so fast... Greetings! From Warsaw
LukeLifeCharms, OK, Alex is short for Alexander. In Russia, they would call him Sasha. Yana is not a typical female Russian name. It may be short for Tatyana. In Russia, they would call her Tanya.
You are Beautiful ! Thank you for your time you share with people like me that inspire to travel the world.
Ahh my pleasure!! And thank you sooo much!!!

These videos have been great, thanks for giving a view into some places that are a bit underrepresented on youtube.
You must try a night life in Riga and Oldtown. Looks like you were in wrong spots
Sad you could have gone for like 20 minutes more to see one of the greenest part of Riga, Teika.
Ahhh maybe next time!!
Sitting and seeing the KGB office was unique

You should visit ventspils in Latvia, would be a completely different experience
Ha ha I exactly wanted to ask - Where did you find so peaceful place with no mosquitoes? So weird, we got bitten all over that weekend. :DD
Mantas Balnys, Did it happen in Riga?
@@tj5308 Lithuania. Though I do not think mosquitoes speak different language in Latvia. Mostly the same wet landscape.

you should show more different shots of the city that would be cool! cool vlog anyway👌👌🙃
1:19 Swastika spray painted upon the wall over your right shoulder. YIKES!
