Normally, we research the best things to eat, see and do in every city. Riga was different. Our Airbnb host sent us so many recommendations before our stay we simply chose to follow their list and see what happened. This is a guide to Riga through the eyes of a local.

From one Spartan to another, I love your videos. I'm headed to Riga in two weeks and will be using your suggestions as my roadmap. Also a passionate traveler, it's so nice to watch you guys wind your way across the world. Go green!
Go white! Riga was one of our favorites. Some of the best beer in Europe and so much to see and do. Have a great time!
@@SOSASATSUNRISE I see that it is warm in Latvia. I see lot of sunlight in your video. Which month did you visit Latvia ?
The food at the Lido is pretty darn good. Also, their Uzavas beer is tasty.
My favourite place closed down; it was a restaurant which served pancakes filled with meat, mushroom, potato pancakes , Apple pancakes, Banana pancakes. Chef Pavar Wilhelm, Come Back!
Good video.👍
I'm visiting Riga in 3 weeks with my kids, I will follow your advices, if you can make a great video after all those beers 🍻 it will be probably easy for me to manage them 😂
Definitely need to add Riga to the bucketlist after seeing and hearing about all the breweries!!!
Great beer in Riga and some of the best bar snacks ever!
8:17 - Yes, absolutely the best restaurant. I've been there many times with my mom and her friend at this point, and I can't forget about the quality of food 😆 Also, the best bread!
I knew that ya'll sounded familiar. I'm originally from Michigan as well, but live in the South now. I may be studying abroad in Latvia next year. This video was apart of my casual research. Thanks!
Another nice video guys - Riga looks a beautiful vibe.
Thank you for this video. I will be in Riga this month, so this was very helpful!
I love this market! I'm going to Riga in November, I shall definitely visit it!!
That’s one huge market and looks very well kept👍👍
Going there in 2 weeks! Thanks for the video!

That's a lovely tour of Riga! Thanks, from the local!

Greeting from Pakistan 🌹 with love
My fave hockey player
Teddy Blueger is from Riga
Beautiful place
Loved Riga! We were shocked when the bartender not only knew who the Red Wings were, but also the Griffins, our local team.
@@SOSASATSUNRISE pittsburgh pens fan here
BUT BUT BUT
we respect the hell outta the red wings
Got family in Lansing
Lol @ the craft show comment at the end. Can’t wait for the next video 🤗
Hahahah. If you know you know!
im Latvian and i didnt even know we got palces like that :D thanks for visit!
I can't believe I just watched a video on Riga without seeing The House of the Blackheads lol. Great video ! I am headed there for a remote work trip in July and you guys just showed me some great places to eat and drink ! Thanks !
Unfortunately this pie definately was not the one from your host's advice. I am sure he or she meant speķa pīrāgi, that are small pies and filled with cut meat instead of minced meat. The difference is essential.
I agree
Speķa pīrādziņi būtu tāda niekošanās izsalkušiem vēderiem, jo ceļotāji paņēma tieši tos pīrāgus, kas apmierinās viņu apetīti.
What are your plans?how long you are travelling at different countries? hopely many more places! it`s so cool to follow your trip! greets from Finland!!
Welcome to the channel! With the help of our viewers, we hope our travels through Europe are only the beginning.
Latvian here. Nice to see that even over pond friends are visiting Baltic countries. Seems you had very welcoming host in your AirBnb and pointed out good places to visit, it specially "Ala" (Cave) folk club, as in evenings it is very packed.
About food - i guess after visiting Germany you will see a lot of common things, it specially love with beer. :D
We think Riga had some of the best beer anywhere in Europe! Riga is a gem. More people should put it on their list to visit.
Great video, some places that I didn't know, cheers from Cēsis! (near Rīga) (BTW: Cēsis is near Valmiera. This is where Valmiermuiža beer comes from)
Great to follow your journey! Love your energy och your love of beer! 😉Greetings from Sweden! And yeah, by the way, when are you coming here?
Thank you! Stay tuned! More of Scandinavia coming in a little over a month 😀
@@SOSASATSUNRISE Ahh, great news!! 😀Welcome! 🙂
In Latvia "yes" in "jā" (sounds more like "yaa" with prolonged a). "Da" is in Russian. :)
My wife is Latvian she says you need to go to the market earlier like as soon as it opens. I
Any tips on how you learned how to use the public transportation in Latvia so quickly? I live in rural Ohio, no public transportation so I always feel a bit overwhelmed by buying a 24 hr pass for transportation in Europe. Loved your tour. Thanks for sharing! Sounds like your host was very nice & helpful.
Google maps! There is a public transport option for directions that works well in the majority of Europe. If Google maps does not work well in a particular country, there is most likely another app that does. Large metro stations also have information desks that are very helpful. Thank you for watching! 😀
@@SOSASATSUNRISE Thank you! I always get a little confused especially with buses & trams, making connections. Trains I just get on the wrong platform usually or confuse platform with train number. 🤷♀️
F***ing nice review! I am from Riga
😂😅😂 Can anybody explain why Americans cannot use knife? Eating a côtelette just with fork??? In old Europe? In my old Europe. Strange.
Only Americans that don't have table etiquette. Young people are raised on fast food, they don't even know how to properly set a table!
What is that bar's name? I am not seeing it correctly i think. Thanks!
I am in Riga now and it's amazing!
Which bar?
Did you try Saku Tume in Estonia? It’s the best dark beer ever. I miss it so much. 😢
I don't think we did try Saku Tume and we love dark beer! Adding it to the list for next time 😀
there are a lot of good craft breweries in the u.s. u prob never been to one.
Why do you say that?
Lo mismo me estaba preguntando.....por qué tanta cerveza....lo bueno es que los riñones deben estar bien limpios....lo malo....el hígado....😅😅😅😅😅
Clean and beautiful city..❤
A fascinating looking place.
10:46 looks like Snowdens cousin working the till!?!!
MD. ASHIQUR RAHAMAN SIKDER from chandpur, Bangladesh
You guys should be HUGE
So good love it
Hope yinz get married
Thank you so much! We have actually been married for 3 years now. 🥰
@@SOSASATSUNRISE love this
Is it beer or kava’s??😂🤣
traditional piragi are small oval or crescent shaped buns, filled with chopped bacon and onions. Not sure why that vendor calls their big meat pies "piragi".
"Pīrāgs" means pie. The ones you mention - the traditional ones are often also referred as "speķa pīrādziņi" which means beacon pies but word pies in deminutive and plurar form as they are smaller and usually bought multiple. Usually people really understand by using both versions that talk is about traditional ones as they are so popular and as other kind of pies often is referred with more specific names.
@@mafioziks Pirags doesn't mean pie. that's rausis. Ragi means horns. Piragi are specific crescent shaped buns.
@@marutakelers1856 Not always. Try to google pictures of ābolu pīrāgs. It will show you pictures of apple pie that looks quite similar to pies I have seen in American movies.
Just for safety I rechecked definition and it basically says that pīrāgs is bread type food with filling. Usually crescent or oval form. Also I have experienced time to time people referring apply pie type deserts to be referred as pīrāgs.
Rausis nowadays is used quite rarely from my experience. By definition it is food with a pit for placing content. So it is quite similar if you look on definitions.
I guess that you can say that both Latvian words relates to English word pie in situations.
Pierogi
Not Lee dough and not lie dough either. The i is always i like in whip, and the o is always something like uo/oo ah. Unless it's a foreign word with just a normal o like old. And then you can choose the meaning. The verb to fly in the third person or a beach in Italy.
It's nice city but it get boring after 2 days 😂
All that beer, how are you still standing?
We are professional city experiencers
kvass isn't bear 😅😅
Also, most countries have better beers than America.
I would highly highly disagree with that. Although our domestic beers go down like water, American craft beer is hard to beat!
ALL countries
Why it’s very empty places ????
Live partly in riga as a foreigner I which the food in restaurants could be better quality latvia have no sense to make any alacarte food food in restaurants is maybe sheep but portions small and tasteless best food in riga is simple fries with grilled sausage
TURNED OFF THE VIDEO WHEN YOU SAID YOUD RATHER SPEND 9 EURO ON BEER THAN GO UP THE CATHEDRAL......WOW YOURE SO COOL TRAVEL UA-camRS OMGGG SO COOL !!!! FU
I think churches should be free to enter.
All video about beer.drunk people.
Not good video at all.
Pity....
There's no drunk people in this video. It would also be a pity to go to Riga and not drink the beer.
