@@meoswald9131 It is. That's why in this video our world view should be respected. Especially if You are speaking about geography and politics. Why one should speak about our country, showing strange maps in video?
i know that during the Viking Era, Latvia was sort of like a Greenzone... or well Riga was, all the massive Viking Ships would Park in Riga, and Vikings would head to local bars for some nice beer.... you also missed the fact that Latvia has the heaviest Drinkers in the World (some people debate that it could be lithuania, but its more latvia), the flag is the 3rd oldest flag in the world, and the story my teachers taught me about it is, around 1918-1922 there was a War that involved Baltic States and Poland against Russia ''The War Of Independence'', Apparently After the War Was Over, They Found a White Flag From Russia Side with Their Blood on it... so they made it our flag.
some of the stuff you find on google is very outdated, we do have the tallest women in the world... we also probably have the tallest men, atleast in this generation, because the russian men that still live in russia are pretty short, but about every Gen Z that i know is about 6 Ft, i know like 50 People that are 6'0-7'2.
As a complete Latvian wanna ask, is there any chance of getting a video explaining Wales? 👀 The little brother of England a lot of people don’t know about, but with which the Great Britain has sort of started. And the country with the coolest flag ever! 🏴🏴🏴 We’ve got some things in common including people on the most part not knowing that these small countries even exist. 😃 P.S. Cool video about Latvia, summing this up very well. ♥️
as a person whos living in latvia im really happy that a youtuber big as countries explained im really happy that somebody knows my country (you should come to latvia its really really buetifull)
I like how positive this video was when I reality Latvia is falling apart. Like the population is rapidly decreasing, our politics are so messed up I can’t keep track and most people talk better in English or Russian than Latvian even if they were born here (including me) But to give us some credit Rīga is a beautiful city with lots of old buildings, but that’s about all we got.
Liepāja and Jelgava are pronounced more as "Liiepawya" and "Yélgava" And Jūrmala is "Yóórmahlaw" and just means "beach" Also Cēsis(TS-eeh-cis) is pretty cool too.
''as they will never beat them in ice hockey'' did you fall a sleep during the most recent game? we wiped the floor with Sweden and USA, if latvia made hockey... we would be the best, tens of years ago latvia was in its PRIME in hockey, then all the good players left or became shit, and as of past 1-3 years.... Latvia is Back, so 2024 we will smoke Sweden AND possibly canada, all the good players are starting to come back
We didn't wipe the floor with them. The games with Sweden and USA were evenly matched and we won at the end. We wiped the floor with Kazakhstan and in the first game Canada wiped the floor with us
As a Latvian, I say thank you for the beautiful video. Only... Why do you use a map (6:20) where Crimea is a part of Russia? It is not a part of Russia according to International law. It is unlawfully annexed territory and will be returned back soon. As a part of nation which was earlier occupied by the same aggressor I can not stay silent about this detail.
He might have taken an older map, because before like 1991 Crimea was never a part of Ukraine. Though it doesn't look like USSR, and I'd think that taking an older map than USSR is unprobable... Anyways - right now Crimea is under Russian control and that's a fact whether you like it or not.🤷♂️
@@Imaxxd22 This voting is unlegit, people voted already long ago and decided to stay with Ukraine and be independent. Putin promised that he has no pretensions about Crimea and of course lied as always. You can't just come in a neighbour country with army, make there your own fake voting with huns and threats, force Cremea deputies with guns to vote for joining Russia (Strelkov Girkin has admitted this in his interviews) and think that everyone in the world believes this bullshit, when in your own elections people and parties win with 146%. Peskov already said they will draw 90% win for Putin in the next elections. Why not 146% again? Russia is a real failed state with no normal toilets for 60% of population in some regions like Altai and others. Chaushesku also had 89,9 % support short time before his own people executed him. Of course, they were not genetic slaves like russians are. So just go back in your 1991 borders and leave the rest of the world in peace.

At 5:24 insert that in 1939 while Latvia was being annexed into the Soviet Union by march 1940 soviet military began occupation, forced de-privatisation of property was implemented by way of violence, forced labor, any refusal was met with execution or forced military conscription into the Red Army or deportation to Siberia. At the same time the NKVD was reigning terror.. executing Latvian families by the thousands as a form of political oppression... In 1941 Nazi Germany then invaded Soviet Union, Latvian territory... and off the Nazis went continuing with their genocidal goals targeting and executing thousands of Latvian Jewish families....
Bad news for you. No one believes that liberal crap besides nazis and liberals themselves. First of all, Latvia is part of Russia since 1721. Second of all, during soviet era Latvia became an advanced industrial region with radio, satellite, train and other technical production famous through USSR and Socialistic camp. People who were sent to Siberia were mostly nazi collaborationists and victims of false denunciation. Especially after the Great Patriotic War in 1949.

Nice video, as LAtvian i Enjoyed !
Thank you! And thanks for watching 😁🙌
One of the most educative videos I have seen on UA-cam about countries. Kudos!
As a latvian i aprove of this video

As a Latvian I fully agree and i am thankful for making a video it’s truly a buetiful place
Crimean peninsula is part of Ukrainian state!
@artursbondars7787
It is not this video about Latvia ?
@@meoswald9131 It is. That's why in this video our world view should be respected. Especially if You are speaking about geography and politics. Why one should speak about our country, showing strange maps in video?
Crimea is majorly populated by ethnic russians and de-facto belongs to Russia. Cope, ukropigger
this video is not about Ukraine
This video is not about Ukraine, but it spreads misinformation about Ukraine.
Je vais bientôt partir un semestre à Liepāja pour mes études, j'ai hâte de découvrir ce pays !
i know that during the Viking Era, Latvia was sort of like a Greenzone... or well Riga was, all the massive Viking Ships would Park in Riga, and Vikings would head to local bars for some nice beer.... you also missed the fact that Latvia has the heaviest Drinkers in the World (some people debate that it could be lithuania, but its more latvia), the flag is the 3rd oldest flag in the world, and the story my teachers taught me about it is, around 1918-1922 there was a War that involved Baltic States and Poland against Russia ''The War Of Independence'', Apparently After the War Was Over, They Found a White Flag From Russia Side with Their Blood on it... so they made it our flag.
some of the stuff you find on google is very outdated, we do have the tallest women in the world... we also probably have the tallest men, atleast in this generation, because the russian men that still live in russia are pretty short, but about every Gen Z that i know is about 6 Ft, i know like 50 People that are 6'0-7'2.
@@Latvians Yeah, almost everything you said is also wrong.

Latvia also wrre Vikings.
im a latvian and im glad that someone actually looks lot more forward in Latvia's history!
P.S. Cool video about Latvia, summing this up very well. ♥️
as a person whos living in latvia im really happy that a youtuber big as countries explained im really happy that somebody knows my country (you should come to latvia its really really buetifull)
I'm simple Lithuanian, I see braliuks I press like
Big respect for the video as a fellow Latvian!
А я думал, что меньше и меньше людей говорят по-русски в Латвии ?
Being from Houston Texas. I want to move to Latvia 🇱🇻 🎉
Move to Latvia from usa isn't great idea to apply
Liepāja and Jelgava are pronounced more as "Liiepawya" and "Yélgava"
And Jūrmala is "Yóórmahlaw" and just means "beach"
Also Cēsis(TS-eeh-cis) is pretty cool too.
YES
the way you wrote the pronunciation of Liepāja reminds me of old latvian writing
Your pronunciation of Liepāja sounds bad.
Been having a laugh hearing you pronounce the names of these locations :D
Much love.

We wiped the floor with Kazakhstan and in the first game Canada wiped the floor with us
This is a great location for tourism, beauty & history, can't be beat!
Lol😂😂😂
@@polkad6983 lol? Maybe your country would like to make a present so some neighbour country and give away a couple of regions?
He might have taken an older map, because before like 1991 Crimea was never a part of Ukraine. Though it doesn't look like USSR, and I'd think that taking an older map than USSR is unprobable... Anyways - right now Crimea is under Russian control and that's a fact whether you like it or not.🤷♂️
@@hope_is_immortal_thingTake a chill pill. Crimea is Russia according to popular vote of Crimean people.
Great video, coverage was excellent!

Hi everyone
👋
Solid video! Thank you! 🙏
In general good video and info about Latvia is true. ❤ But map is wrong at 6:20 min. Crimea is not Russia. That is false info
Cry about it
Finally a video with a country THAT I live in🇱🇻
I'm going to forgive you for absolutely butchering the pronunciations...
Thank you 😇
Thank you about this video, people rarely make videos about us and I'm really grateful for making this video, oh and you misspelled Jelgava, it's a hard j.
Crimea is Ukraine !!!!in your maps showing like russia in present this is russia
Please change this thx
as a citizen of Latvia im very suprised of the videos accuracy, because of the reason mentioned in the video, not being in world wide headlines often. but video was great, aside from the wonky pronunciations. and hi brothers and sisters from Estonia and Lithuania.
@@_Xerius_ "advanced industrial region" Latvia already had radio and trains before the soviet occupation you retarded vatnik
