I love that this guy just goes in completely blind. No real idea of how it really works, no prior research, nothing. He finds/receives a puzzle, reads the letter, makes a video, and spends hours trying to solve it. His enthusiasm in the past few videos I've watched is motivating and I love how much he loves these puzzles
@cryptorchid Yeah I saw that one, really doubt he meant to cheat, either just an editing error (he opened it then was like "Oh wait I should've recorded myself opening this.. damn.") or he opened it when he received it and was like "oh what's this little envelope with Japanese characters, oh shit it's the solution". His little pretend it wasn't already open trick was most likely just so people wouldn't jump on him in the comments and say he cheated, which I mean I so no reason why he would've with such an easy puzzle
@Al Bundy Sometimes it does feel like he's pulling the answers out of his ass, I'll give you that. I think sometimes, out of frustration, he will peak at some hints, but I don't think he'll look at the actual answers of the puzzle beforehand. That would defeat the purpose. Why would he film himself pretending to try to solve a puzzle he already knows the answer to, for hours on end? That wouldn't make sense and sure as hell wouldn't be much fun.
I was getting really anxious with how close he was holding the marker to that letter.

Someone who collects card and does a lot of card tricks (maybe it even is or was his job)
Because he does Cardistry, you handle these cards quite a lot and also mishandle them when you do Cardistry, so people who specialize in this tend to by decks on decks because it wears out after all that handling and bending etc
I guess you haven't seen his collection, Chris literally has thousands of decks of cards, a brick is nothing.

I was looking at it on Theory 11, and they show the lock unlocked with the correct combination visible. It's the first photo on the page, on Theory 11's store. Pretty clever move because you don't expect them to show it right there. Also, I went and looked inside the tuck case because I had a single deck, and I love what I found.

I'm glad I didn't spend $150 for a puzzle this easy. The box and cards look nice, but this is the kind of puzzle I'd expect to see a dozen of in an escape room.
Solving that cryptex in an escape room setting would have been quite more difficult. He potentially wouldn't have had the ability to write out all the possible combinations, and he was getting nowhere before he did that
Did you not watch until the very end??? There are a bunch more puzzles to solve, and along with them, prizes to win if you do.
@@larryhigginbotham326 I hadn't watched until the end, but the extra puzzles aren't shown here and the prizes aren't described here. While the puzzles here may be more challenging than getting into the box, we can't really know, and the box still doesn't seem worth it for a chance to have a challenging puzzle.

You both COMPLETELY missed the point Mike Watson was trying to make and that is that "child" was, in fact, the first five letter word he encountered, but in the video, he identified "Harry" as the first one.

Andrew Burns i understand how you feel, i don't have ADHD myself but I do have autism, it's not severe but it's still a pain at times. I love anything that needs imagination to use or understand because it means i can go to a world that isn't full of all the stuff that's going on, i can focus solely on whatbis in front of me and nothing else matters.

InTheKnotWeTrust 1904 just owning the instrument and being able to play it without needing anything electric to hear it is enough for me boss definitely soothes my mind and makes me think on only one thing and not fifty 😆 no matter what that instrument is anything counts music is definitely a drug for a certain minority of people 😝

Crazy. When Chris read the letter I was thinking about Abrams with his stupid Mystery box story. Then the words "bad robot" were used, which is the name of Abrams production company. And only then I saw the signature on the bottom.
This guy and his fucking mystery box idea. It might have some merit to it, and that might be valid when the box was cheap. It's not something you should apply across the board to filmmaking. Some mysteries are fine. The origin of Tom Bombadil in Lord of the Rings comes to mind. But you can't leave everything a mystery or up to the viewers imagination.
And since I'm on a roll here. This fits really nicely with Ryan Johnsons stupid idea of subverting viewer expectations. Again, nothing wrong with it in principle. But if your subversion to a mystery is "nothing interesting", that doesn't work. Who are Rey's parents? They're nobody. Who was Snoke? Doesn't matter, he's dead. Gee thanks, that was interesting.

As a huge fan of JJ Abrams work. FYI I was hooked into the first Cloverfield movie hype. The fake stories, websites and adds. It just added to the universe and lore of the movie. Back to the mystery box 0.o wow.. I'm going to have to sell some comics or something. I was riveted to the video, all the way through! Personal note. Magic as rehab for a thumb injury.. way better then stretch rubber band IMO. At least it works for me, always listen to your doctor, but don't be afraid to try other things. For me, I have practiced a false cut and some cardistry and I've gained more mobility in my thumb! Sharing to much.. but hey.. this mystery box really or a smile on my face. You know, I'd say I'm more impressed that he doesn't just take a standard lock pick attitude towards these puzzles with locks. This can be easily opened by using tension and figuring out where the rollers don't bind. Recommend the lock picking lawyer's channel. a good watch for lock picking.

Kind of hurt me to “see” you cut up the cards. I would have definitely tried to open the box, but would not have opened any of the cards.
