I hope it will never return to broadway. I don't care about effects or songs. I don't want other casts, I want the original with Terrence Mann! Disney has a proshot of the og production, they should release it. The original cast will forever be THE BEST period.
The Lumiere head at 8:38, I read that they decided not to use that after reviewing the play because they felt it hid too much of the actor's face. They felt the head where the candle is smaller was good enough because you can see his face and could tell his head was becoming a candle. That was another interesting thing about the musical. Instead of objects starting out completely as objects, they are people gradually turning into objects the longer the spell remains. In one scene Cogsworth and Lumiere are discussing how they're changing and will eventually become.... THINGS unless the master changes his ways. Cogsworth also mentions that he doesn't see why they had to get dragged into the spell when it was the master's fault and Lumiere says that they are responsible for helping making the master the way he is.
Fun fact there was a 7th song added, called a change in me. This song was included before, Toni Braxton was casted as belle. 2 songs had a reprise, if I can't love her & is this home.
I also remember hearing Robby Benson narrate on the cassette audio reading of If You Give a Moose a Muffin which I rented from my local library when I was little!
i saw this show about 30 years ago on a sunday matinee performance at the chicago theatre. i was amazed by the effects, the music and the pizzazz of this production.
It closed because at the time Disney was working on Little Mermaid and they didn’t want 2 Disney princesses on broadway at the same time because they thought it would cause competition between the shows. And they also had Lion king, Tarzan and Mary Poppins on broadway at the time so I guess they thought it wouldn’t hurt them financially to close it. And apparently from what I read they were supposed to bring it back the next year during the holiday season but it never ended up happening 😕 BIG mistake on their part for closing it and so disappointing because it’s one of my favorite musicals and my dream is to see it on Broadway 💕
5:56 and 5:58 the test audiences should have deemed Babette too much similar to Belle and demanded her to have medium length blonde hair, deemed the white hair on Lumiere “TOO OLD” and recollect his hair to the Sandy hair from the original film (similar to what the audiences did to Michael Angelis when they deemed his voice for Percy too old (they were also hypocritical in by dismissing Angelis’s voice for James too old and have James’s voice too young and cast him with Susan Roman when they should have also deemed her voice “too gay and feminine”) John Belis for Thomas but made a screwup by removing PT Boomer, the original villain, that caused a lot of negative reviews by the critics and was a financial disaster.)
I love Susan Egan so much
If I had a time machine I would go back in time and buy tickets to go see this musical because this musical is amazing!
Just imagine how much better the effects would be if this show was on broadway today!
I don't think it would be better at all it would be all screens and projections rather than actual effects
@@Chaneloweenz Screens/projections are the CGI of theater. Overused in place of practical effects/sets.

I am so blessed to have seen this show with the entire original cast.
Robby Benson, the voice of the Beast! 🦁 👑 🌹 🥀
Susan Egan is such a Disney icon
Oh, ya!

I really love this musical
I so wish this show was on Broadway still. I hope they bring it back
Me, too.
Someday we will get a recorded version of the official broadway... someday
So great to hear from the late Gary Beach. Wish I could have seen him in this ...
Amazing. Wish I could have seen it.
Why did this stop running?? I want to watch this so badly.
Tess Loucka well

@@HeyItsSarah30 they also revealed in 2019 that they had plans for a revival, but nothing else was said about it.
Holy shit the Special Effects for The Beast are good enough for Hollywood!
I love Disney musical like this one great music 🎹🎻🎺🎼🎷🎶
I just wonder how all of the actors and actresses has all of their own time getting ready to get into their places to get on stage every single night
6:39 I don't think that there was a third Ghostbusters movie in this time 😅
Whenever I do impressions of LeFou, I always use Kenny Raskin’s version
Fucking Robby Benson is the voice of beast
So it's like beast is narrating the whole thing
Why did Susan Egan love playing Belle?
11:18 Alexa, play Radio from Half-Life 2.
3:47
I don’t understand the point of the beast having teeth. Why would he sing with those? We can’t hear him like that.
