I believe the Virage also had cosmetic updates in 1992/3? the dash board changed so each dial was surrounded by wood. Side vents were also added to the front side panels. in 1994 the engine was updated to produce 350 bhp & finally a 4 speed auto was offered. The volante version continued till 1997. Early versions on the Virage could be updated to this final version via Aston Martin Works, but at hefty cost. It would have made more sense to trade in the older version for a new one and pay the difference but customers of this car $ was no object. The Virage and Virage Volante ( a few yrs later) was replaced by the V8 version with the same updates, but with a lower key Vantage appearance, production ended in 1999 with only 101 built.
I think the dream version is the Virage with the 6.3 Eng but with the Vantage body panels not the wide body. This was possible as there are a few examples, both Virage Volantes, one with only the rear Vantage panels with the grapefruit rear lights & and the other with full Vantage appearance. This gave the Vantage look , with 500 bhp w/o the Vantage Superchargers, which provided more power (550 or 600 bhp more based on what Vantage version) overall, but the power delivery was unpredictable & jolting. As one Car Magazine writer described it as a " unpleasant novity " . The cost and maintenance was also lower w/o the super chargers which had do be removed to "just" change the speak plugs.
I just bought a 1990 standard car with a 5 speed box in black on black and only 15k miles on it (sight unseen!) so I hope its as good as they say it is :-)
@@paulgart nice yes manual five speed was available then but in 1990 automatic only came in a 3 speed, which is ridiculous they should’ve sourced at least a four-speed at the start

Fantastic video , with some of the really rare Astons ,I love these later shooting brakes . This is a great channel with cars that are not shown anywhere else on you tube ,you have set up a real worthwhile channel showing classics that even enthusiasts for these cars have never seen , well done fella !
