NEUROFUNK DRUM AND BASS JAM with ELEKTRON MODEL CYCLES and KORG KAOSSILATOR

New jam with Elektron Model:Cycles, a really powerful FM synth groovebox with lot of hidden tricky geeky features that blow my mind every time :D
After the metallic and musical delay used on basslines i made some experiments with track multipliers: as everyone know the MC is based on step sequencing, so all the motion recordings have a standard definition of 16 steps with no smooth motion options but... with the track multiplier you can easily double the definition of your grid and get smooth automations. The lenght become shorter but with trigger conditions and probability you can have also longer patterns. I made a Neurofunk Drum and Bass tune to test all these modulation possibilities, i used my beloved Korg Kaossilator for add Fx and movements to the arrangement. Enjoy!

This sounds Amazingly grungy and GROOVE-FILLED! Love all the unique sounds you're creating out of the Elektron Model Cycles... I can't find these great kinds of sounds on mine, I've tried multiple times messing around with all the knobs, the LFO inside the screen menu and other things. Now it's just put back into the box because it makes me feel quite frustrated. Anyway, you make that FM Synth sing...just gorgeous 😅!

I'm just astounded that you get such sounds from the Model Cycles! I must spend more time with mine, perhaps restrict myself to just making a track using that instead of my full set up- you could easily sell a course in sound design and tutorials with the cycles- your skills are exceptional.

This is sooo sick man, any chance of a tutorial on the bass design? I'm getting closer on the Electribe 2 but I'm missing something fundamental about the sound design, something about a detuned saw and sweeping with an LFO? Best Electribe/Cycles videos on youtube by far!

I have to think about make a tutorial :D just need to improve my english skills :D anyway try also with filtered FM squares with a LFO on volume, a little of noise with decimator or redux and a parallel distortion :)

I also produce DnB with Ableton, i used to watch a lot of tutorials from DNB Academy, Lets Synthetize and other similar channels... i think that most of the techniques shown fits perfectly on the M:C, just don't have a real filter but the basics of FM modulation are the same (for example the LFO on shape or sweep in the tone machine)
