I’ve played as a keeper for a while and here’s some stuff I learned playing.
1. If you aren’t confident in your goalkicks, Let a defender take it (defenders can kick super well but it depends, I usually let the person with the strongest and most accurate kick take it).
2. Don’t be afraid to dive
Some balls are easily saved if you just go for the dive. If you’re scared to land on the hard ground, practice on a soft surface. I used to go to trampoline parks and practice on the trampolines, but a long and soft bed works as well.
3. During penalty kicks, be more confident. I rarely let in penalty kicks because I learned from mentors and coaches that confidence is key in goalkeeping. It really does help.
I hope these tips helped for newer keepers and good luck on your next game :D
Thanks
3 Quick tips I've learnt.
1. Never kick the ball away in tight situations, always grab with your hands.
2. In a penalty or other situations (mainly pens) never guess your shot always wait for it to strike.
3. Some shots are bound to go in so it's fine if you miss some, but try to stop the ball as you much as you can.
1. I don't understand this tip?
2. I don't agree with the penalty. You have a better chance of saving the penalty if you guess compared to if you react. The ball will travel most of the time within 0.3-0.5 seconds from the spot to the goal. The fastest human reaction speed is 0.1 seconds that doesn't leave you with enough time to transfer your entire body weight to the side of the goal. The best way to save a penalty is by reading the takers body language and to put them off the shot.
3. Yeah.
@@OP1GK
1. Don't try kick the ball or pass, grab the ball to prevent anyone striking it in when your unaware and out of position
2. Compare the wc final. Emi waited for the shot and played much better, Hugo went for the guess and slipped up.
3. thanks
@@funded6274 1. Which situation would you use this in? I don't fully understand what you're trying to say.
2. Emi definitely didn't react 😅. Like I said it's near impossible to react to the penalty. The science doesn't allow it to work unless the shot is near the centre of the goal.
In addition, Emi puts the attackers off really well, he's good with the mental side of the penalty. Professionals also learn the takers penalty spot so they know the probabilities of where each player would kick the ball.
It may seem like they react but in reality they dive just before the penalty is kicked otherwise if they dive too soon then the taker can put the pen on the other side.
@@OP1GK could be. Emi is very good and class, he definitely psyches the striker out. The first point is intended for corner or free kicks, or during an attack, to never pass and hold on the ball because you could get unlucky with your positioning and end up conceding a goal
@@funded6274 sorry bro, but if you try to wait for the pen to be taken before making the dive, you will save nothing
Thanks for the tips cause I scared of the ball and lack confidence and was made fun off but now I feel I defend my goal better
I had my first game as a goalie today. I saved a penalty kick and saved most of my shots, let one in tho but that’s fine because it’s my first game. But it was kinda scary but I’m happy with my performance I did today
Great job bro! I'm gonna be playing my first game as goal keeper tomorrow and I'm kinda nervous. My teammates and coaches are real strict. Wish me luck🤞
@@Dimer_SZN how’d it go?
@@G2KMobile it was great! I only let in 1 goal and my team won 3-1. I'm still the starting goalie.
@@Dimer_SZN nice job bro!! that’s amazing!!

@@liampepe6013 love that
I made a video about high dives and it's on my tutorial playlist however I can improve your high dives by doing strength and power workouts so that you get a more explosive and higher jump for high dives
ty op
when Ur diving drive with Ur opposite knee to ur chest, for example diving to the right in the air drive your left knee into your chest
After this I became one of best gks in our training tysm
Thanku bro❤️❤️
im 4”11 and it’s difficult for me to dive and be able to get to the ball first. I’m in 7th and i work with mostly high schoolers so this video really helps me from embarrassing myself
im in 6th grade and i got blessed with being tall and stuff and good genetics if i wanna get muscular but im scared af of powerful shots. i wanna be a LW but i feel like they wont let me if i try so i will become a gk
@@SuperStriker9000 hey if you are scared of hard shots either put your hands like this 🙌 or this 👊👊 towards the ball. Im not great and haven’t started lessons but I do know that.

I used to be a beast at keeper, but switched positions a couple years back. But now im enjoying playing keeper more and more, and im thinking of trying to swap to keeper. Do you have any tips to kind of regain my skills as goalie
Hey, I’m supposed to be in under 12’s but was moved to under 13’s due to shortage in female teams, having to play on such a huge field all of a sudden was so surprising for me, the huge goals and me only being 5’3 is so hard.. From the start of my season I have improved incredibly but that doesn’t mean I still miss the smaller goals haha
Most annoying are people shouting at you because you didn't catch.
I just heard from someone "goalkeeping is easy", these guys lack empathy
I come to this video every few months and I have learned a lot, I think I am one of the best keepers in my school and when saving a pen or free kick I look at the tecnique and their eyes to save it.
Nice one 👍
hey I'm a u15 keeper at 6'0 do you have tips for diving in the air for top corner saves like that?

Hey OP1GK i am a 12 year old goalkeeper and i need some tips on shots on bottom corner shot do you think you help me

being brave is probably one of the biggest obstacles I face
Hi sir I am the goalkepper for my school team and I am really having problems in diving in my weaker left side can you please give me some tips regarding that?
I was having a pretty good season about 1-2 years ago, teammates, coaches were all saying how much I’d improved but then I got a knee injury during a tournament and it just can’t heal completely
Now that I came back it still gives me trouble from time to time and now I just don’t feel the same, the other gk now starts over me and the few games I played I just couldn’t perform
Brother if you are serious about this football thing then get up and keep trying. I am sure it it going to pay off in the end. It is normal for you not to perform at your highest aften an injury but you have to keep pushing if you really want it. I wish you all the best and don't give up on your dreams!
I’m a ten year old goalie and I already know that this is going to help.

the vocal tip was actually used by my friend becaus when my friend told the GK that the enemy was shooting right he signaled with his hand and saved it
Can you make a vid about dealing with shots in close proximity so by close to feet when there isn’t enough time to dive

Hey i am an 11 year old gk and i have broken my wrist and finger from the ball is there any tips for that?
this video made me never scared of diving
I’m 11 thx this helped a lot I’ve been getting better I was originally brave, my teachers said gkeeping is not good for me cause I was skinny and not that strong but I still managed to prove that I am worth of the gkeeping title :)
I’m a massive football fan but I have a lot of asthma and respiratory issues due to a small nose and a slightly deviated septum so I honestly believe I won’t be able to manage to play as anything else than a GK, that’s how I realized that I could use my 6’5” height and 7/10 reflexes to my advantage so I’m gonna try and see if I’m cut out for the task
Everyone has their differences, strengths and weaknesses. You must play to your strengths and in your situation you must try to work on your cardio as much as possible because then your respiratory problems won't be that much of a problem. If you leave it as it is and just blame it for everything then you will not get better.
Hey so i am 6ft1 and i am 14 years old any tips for diving against low shots
tommorow i have a match and im going on a tough team as a goalie. They always foul and injure players but ill try my best wish me luck
Hey I’m 6’2 14 and I’m scared of diving any tips
Dude i was playing so well today but they started shooting pure perfect bottom left corner shots then i ate one under legs and just lost all confidence so i got off gk position and tried to slide tackle the guy that shot it under my legs (he also talked trash) and my wrist is injured now
I've snapped my finger being brave and Now my defenders always plat well I'm captain because of u (Thank you good keeper BTW)
the thing is that im afraid of getting injured because my friends kick with so much power, once the ball bounced off the post and hit my crotch at full power. i literally had the pain the whole recess and next recess.
Hi i am a goalie for my team and tomorrow morning I am going agist the best of the leage thanks
Good luck 🤞
Is it normal for the ball to still go in the goal even though i made some contact with the ball like is there anyway to stop it?
Yeah it's normal for that to happen. The way to reduce that is to get stronger and ensure your diving forwards not backwards

@OP1GK, at 1:53, you mentioned not being flat footed, does that mean I can’t be a goalkeeper?
The meaning "not being flat footed", means to stay on your toes rather than flat on your feet.
@@OP1GK thank you.
Is there any tips you have to stand out from the rest as a keeper. I'm a very good keeper but my family can't afford to put me in competitive soccer. I am starting a rec season this year and I'm worried that the coach would pick someone other than me to be in goal, I am as dedicated as a person can get which is why I'm worried about not making it as a keeper
Be loud and clear with your communication and perform the basics correctly with being very good with the ball at your feet
Bro really said “just be a better keeper.”
I don't recall saying that. If you can pinpoint where I said it then I will take that back

Hey I have a question, when you say you can't be flat footed does that mean that if you have flat feet as in the condition will it mean i will be not as good at goalkeeper?
No it has nothing to do with any condition. It means to be on your toes and not have your feet flat on the ground
Ok, thanks
I am 5'11ft 13yr old goalkeeper and i started goalkeeping a year ago and icant save penalties please let me know how to save penalties
I am a 5'8 12 year old goalkeeper (5'9 in boots) your tips help me alot, thanks
No worries ☺️
I am too shy to talk to my teammates do the vocal one do you have any tips?
I guess try to get out of your comfort zone. Communication is extremely important and everyone knows that so just don't be afraid to scream at your defenders as they won't say anything back.
Once you do it once and it's not bad with no shame you will be able to do it a lot of times.
im good at everything in this video except mastering the basics but the worst is i have no idea how to encourage my teammates
I’m 13 and 5ft 9. I’m in my school soccer team and the qualifiers are on Wednesday October 4. My coach says to rush the attacker with the ball to give them less space to shoot. Is that a good Idea?
Depends on the scenario. Here a video which goes over that:
