Growing up in the West Indies in the 80's, I can tell you that this man was the darling of the entire region. Everyone wanted to bat like Sir Viv Richards. He was my dad's favorite cricketer, and so he became my favorite as well. He was swagger before the term was popularized. Nobody put fear into opposing bowlers like the Master Blaster!!!

Srika was himself an electrifying batsman and fielder. I was born 78. I watched cricket because of Kapil Dev and Cheeka. Later it was Sachin. But the original greats were Kapil and Cheeka (for slam bam opening). As for Viv, most opponents lost their nerve when he got going. Scary batsman and fielder!
