It was srikkanth who taught how to hit the ball over the fielder's head. Earlier the cricket that we played was sadate. It was customary to play defence followed by glance. The scoring by hitting the spinners were the main theme of then cricket. I played cricket in the mid fifties and our batting, bowling and fielding was simply par below the present. Many of us had no physical stamina to play 30 overs game. Well cricket has changed a lot in the present day where the physical endurance is given the top priority. E A S prasanna who played test cricket is a good friend of mine, but I have never seen him chasing the ball to stop the boundry. Our test match fielding improved with Eknath solkar. Present day fielding is by far superior to the old time fielding standards.
I would say for any age. Even Ranveer cant be this hyper active with a script. Not that ranveer doesn't have energy. He is an epitome of energy in the current lot but just falls short of Shrikanth's energy.
