The 5.9 Cummins is the best American Diesel engine of all time. The 2nd gen body took the world by storm, but not long after the trucks fall apart around the motor. The ford super duty had the better built cab and drive train. Imagine what would have happened if Ford hadn’t turned down the contract to put Cummins in their trucks instead of the 6.9
It’s fairly cheap and easy to push big power reliably out of those 2nd gens. Best sounding pickup of all time.

I have a LML Duramax and love the sound, but cannot deny that the 5.9 (12 and 24) and 6.7 Cummins sound incredible
