My mistake. My favs 35mm f2 WR lens IS on the nice list. 16mm f1.4 is still naughty.
Any idea why the 16mm F1.4 is not on the nice list?
Thank you for being defiant and testing with it :D it's my favorite lens for photography.
I just picked up the X-H1 with grip and 3 batteries for cheap. I'm always lagging behind by at least 1 generation to get half off. Can't wait to get the XH-2 in 4 years!
Love your videos, they are always upbeat, humble, honest and humorous... I really appreciate your channel, thanks for sharing your journey as a photographer brother. Stay awesome!
Looking like the perfect travel camera. Love the cropability at 40 MP and my prime lenses are less than half the weight and size of my full-frame gear
Fujifilm America finally figured out that we would only buy the X-H2 if you tested it first for us. Loved the honest and realistic review!
Another lovely video Omar, clear and crystal as usual and with delicious extra - sides comments! Gracias!!
Bruv, your nature experience with this camera has made me beam up! As usual there isn't a 'perfect camera, but the one at hand is merely a tool to make the best out of! And you did that, so Thank You!!!
Finally u got your hands on the X-h2 series !! Yay! Hope it will be a permanent item in ur future videos!
The info on the high ISO performance was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
I found your channel by complete chance and I'm so happy I did. I'm thoroughly enjoying (and laughing at) your videos and learning all the way.
Couldn't believe we hit 76 degrees in PA today. Fun video with some really nice shots. Have a great weekend!
Tip from an X-S10 user: Customize the extremes. Set C1 to birds-in-flight. C2 to your next fav setting (street?) and C7 to a setting you also want handy. The ones in the middle are for whatever.
I use C3 and C4 for film recipes. C3 is a really nice sepia-like color setting and C4 (my last) is monochrome/street. (Haven't even set C2 to anything I can remember.)
In an old video of yours, you had memorized how many clicks to get to movie mode. Same principle here.
Someone suggested putting a *post-it note* on the body under the LCD to remind him which C-setting does what. But set C1,2 and 7 for things you will remember.
I think when I get an X-H2, I'll use C5 for deer, if ever I see one:)
Are you hooked on the X-H2 yet?
Super tip! Definitely will take this when I get the X-H2
We want more of X H2 testing! Perhaps even with the new Tamron 150-500mm
The XF-35mm F2 is on the list. Double check. Great introduction to X-H2. I'm hoping the X-T5 has the same sensor.
Definitely will have the same sensor.... Will it be the HR sensor, I highly doubt. It could be the same X-Trans 5 on the X-H2S! That's the 26.1MP sensor. The X-H2's is X-Trans 5 HR, which is 40 MP (for those that aren't aware)
@@ev-ezaye3580 No it will have the 40MP sensor.
@@de-graftasafo-adjei4646 Well we all await... I'm intrigued by what Fujifilm will do next especially with the highly expected X-T5
@@de-graftasafo-adjei4646 Till then I'm all for the X-H2 & X-H2s
Love mine. Digital tele converter is great if I need it in an emergency. 1.4x takes 20mp shot and 2x takes 10mp shot. This makes my primes more versatile if needed. Fantastic camera 👍👍
Some lovely pictures Omar!
Love the video man, can we see more content of the xh2 and possibly comparisons with the older sensors?
Incredible pictures on those beautiful birds mate!
That cinematic video poses 😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️
Your Videos always brighten my day, Omar! Love your sense of humor and the content you push out. Last year I switched to Panasonic for a while and I seriously missed having Omar relevant content! Ahahaha
Edit: Don't worry, I switched back to Fuji.
I wonder why he makes a big deal about leaving auto ISO on. Firstly he has an EVF. He can see the picture before he takes it. Second, there’s really no difference between auto iso and changing th exposure later. If you shoot raw that is.
I was talking about auto iso for video during my talking head part. Exposurejumps
@@ogonzilla for video always keep everything on manual. The ISO can’t jump. If it’s underexposed open the aperture or bring in more light, but the shutter speed and the ISO have to remain constant. If you’re recording at 30fps, shutter speed has to be 1/60th and can’t change. It’s always double the FPS. And the ISO should never exceed ISO800 at the most. Once you pick an ISO it can’t change if you want maximum quality.
Awesome video but…. Really love the hat! Let’s go O’s! 🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾
Hmm, the noise at ISO 3200 and especially 6400 looked actually a bit worse than my X-T2 in similar dull-light conditions. Such are the perils of a higher resolution sensor I suppose, but for now I'm not seeing a reason to upgrade. It'll be interesting to see which sensor they eventually decide on for the X-T5 and which way they'll go with the flippy LCD. Thanks so much for the content Omar - you're such a star reviewer and I could listen to you all day!
Beautiful images and lovely footage! I can dream about the H2 while using my XT20. 🙂
My dreams are more realistic-looking since I have the X-S10. Both the new cameras are like the x-s10 on super steroids:) It won't take as long to get used to the new dials or lack thereof.
Omar: The Director's Cut, soooo cinematic! I'd watch it.
Isn’t the XH2 weather proof? Why not take pictures in the rain?
It's not raining... "World Wildlife Awards..." Yessssss!!!!!!
❤ my xt3
Excellent video as always. My first time with the X-H2 was similar. I now love it. However I love my xt30ii and xt4 perhaps we need to start a gas support group. Lol Best photography you tuber by far.
Thanks for going outside!
Hi Omar, I am working my way through your back catalogue currently. I really enjoy your reviews and humour so much I would like you to review anything I am thinking of buying! Keep up the good work. Regards Phil from West Cornwall in the UK
I have all 4 pads on d-pad set as Q menu so easy to find whilst not taking eye away from EVF, Q menu slots customised to my frequently used settings. This way I rarely use screen and keep it in closed/protected position. A bonus of this is saves battery power as well 👍👍
Let's go Os!!!
Loving that Baltimore hat Omar! ✌🏻❤️
Another informative and deeply human video. Thank you! I'm not sure I need another Fuji camera right now, and don't need the lens acquisition syndrome the X-H2 would force. Part of me likes the idea of more pixels to get more detail out of my crappy photos. I feel like the S is still the better option if you're going to shoot a lot of video, and the file sizes on stills aren't so fat.
Hopefully my awareness of these two cameras will pass and I will return to putzing peacefully around with my X-T4, X-Pro2, X100v, and X100s and my little family of Fujinon and converted legacy Russian and Japanese glass.
The gladiator shot was incredible😂
I reckon they should let you keep this camera. When you were talking about bird mode, at first I thought you were joking! I obviously haven't kept up with recent camera developments.
Great video, loved the image of the Jay with the berry in its beak.
I rechecked to be sure and the xf 35mm f2 R WR is on the list.
You are good and at the same time funny which I enjoy it, thanks....
That supersampled 8k turned to 4k and good light was great. You looked 10 years younger 😂 now if only it could help me look thinner lol
Great video! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
this is funny 😂. the gladiator one 😅
Goodness.. that is one huge lense
I love your humor. Cheers
Love your vids man, love the humor and just chill vibes, keep it up! Big fan!
Will be interesting to see a video on autofocus tracking performance between this and your Z6ii.
Yeah Omar, we are Mindshift brothers. 😂 I have that exact same backpack. By the way: cool video as always
I shot cats last night, and eye detection was spot on and very fast, I love the camera and look forward to shooting more with the 150-600 and100-400. 56 1.2 WR is amazing.
I was hoping that Fuji had improved the auto focus system of their new cameras! This issue 5:22 with the camera sometimes refusing to focus on the subject is what I have been experiencing with XT3!
Hey Omar, nice video. I'm curious to see if you would run some of your pics through Luminar's Noiseless tool. Manny Ortiz just did a demo on it and the AI was amazing. Cleaned up a lot of the noise.
Nice!!! hello Omar
Very nice video! I was wondering how Dynamic Range of this sensor compares to X-T4 with and without DR*00% option
So cool and up to date !...But so biiiiiig !
No no no...not so big compared to my canon 7DII and quite small next to my 5DIV...If you think the x-h2 is too big for you, you could buy the x-t5. It is a bit smaller.
You're such a nut. Nice walk around the X H2. I'm sticking with the X T5 since I rarely do video. It does seem like a great camera. By the way it's not the WTC anymore. It's The Freedom Tower. JFYI. Be well. I wish a great holiday to you and your family.
I feel the same when shooting with the X-H2 - I chose too challenging situations and subjects (my dog and other dogs at the dog park) and I don't know the camera well enough yet! I'm trying to be patient and not rush to judgment on this camera.
Just received mine yesterday. I can't use it yet as i'm waiting for the Stringer EF/X mount adaptor to arrive. I'll be using it with my EF-S and EF lenses for a start until I decide what Fuji lens I would buy to pair it with.
You look very Krispy Kremey. Great video and shots.
BTW, there’s a video record button right on top, next to the shutter button. Programmable. Easy peasy.
I appreciate that you didn't try to sell me anything. I'm already subscribed, so I figured I'd leave a comment 👍
Hey Omar, great video! I’m looking to upgrade from my X-T30 to either the new X-H2 or incoming X-T5 for the larger 40MP sensor, weather sealing, ibis, and better ergo. I shoot primarily landscape, travel, and street / architecture and DON’T shoot any video. The ergonomics of the X-H are really appealing but I worry I’d be overpaying for video prowess I’d never use over an X-T body. Any advice having tried the X-H2 in the metal? Thanks!
If I was you I would see if I could get a hold of a XH1 just to get the feel the how a H2 would feel like
Omar, I appreciated your explanation of how in difficult focusing situations, skill comes into play and therefore some of the autoficus misses may have been user error, you not being familiar with the camera. I have seen other you tubers make a similar user error disqualifier for the autofcus misses which seemed like an excuse was being made - my thought would be - you are a professional, if you can't get the camera to focus on "auto" then something is wrong with the camera. But the truth is that these tools are not magical and their complex configurations do need to be accounted for and may be causing some of the issues. Too much Sony "perfect" backdrop. Thanks for keeping it real! Personally, I take pictures and video of my family unprofessionally and I tried the Fuji X S10 coming from a Sony A6400 being unsatisfied with Sony Skin tones for people of color. Fuji colors are awesome!!!! But the autofocus on the S10 was subpar compared to what I was used to (Sony full tracking don't even think about it autofocus). I went with a Canon R7. But I still have Fuji envy..... Maybe the X S20.
Omar, a very informative and entertaining video. BTW, what's the name of that camera bag? Is it a sling bag? Looks like it held the cam/lens combination pretty well. Thanks!
OK. Thanks for the gear list. Can you let me know what camera bag you are using in this video. Nice that the 150-600mm fits in it.
Did you make sure to update the FW on the camera? I believe there was an AF fix for focusing on the wrong objects like twigs, background etc.
I’ve been waiting for the X-H2 but worried about noise at higher ISO with 40 MP. You confirmed my fears 😏. Anyone know when the X-H3 is due to be
released? I wonder if they will still use this sensor on other series X-T, X-Pro X-E X100? As this could confirm my switch to Nikon FF. Great video Omar, loved the Gladiator clip 😂
@jason newell With Fuji, you have the choice of getting the same image quality but much faster autofocus with the XH2S or better image quality (if you own the right lenses) but worse noise and autofocus performance with the XH2 but at a much lower price point.
Going back and forth between those 2 and the A7IV but also the Z7II or upcoming Z6III. It’s driving me crazy at the moment.
NB: I’m invested in the Fuji system so staying with Fuji makes more economic sense.
You know he shot on High ISO, high due to a dark day, and an 8 fstop + he needed a high shutterspeed
X-H3? Bruh you're daring... Give or take 2+/- years to the next iteration! This isn't Sony's per annum churning product line
@@gilcarag274 Hey, just curious how you decided and if you're happy with your decision? I'm kind of going through a similar phase right now...
Thank you Omar for sharing great review. Noise level seems high at iso >1600.. which is bad for bird photography with a f8 lens… gah!
Very entertaining video as usual Omar ! And informative of course !! Would be great if you could spend more time comparing the autofocus performance vs the XT4 and ideally XH2S….
A French reviewer reported not much improvement vs the XT4 which was a bit disappointing. Any confirmation of this would be great as I’m looking to finally upgrade my trusted mostly manual focus XT2. 😬
Xh2 or s or a7IV are on top of my list at the moment. Ideally the Nikon Z6III would give me another option but who knows what Nikon will come up next.
Bruv, keep it simple. Trusty old X-T2?? I'm guessing you've got the lenses to boot... So stay there and have a minute learning curve. Either the X-H2s or the X-H2 will be a speedy upgrade to your X-T2... just my 2 centz
Or X-T4...
For me between the AF of the X-T4 and X-H2S are lightyears. (I own both.)
Omar, thanks for the video! Can you tell me if the X-H2 has better file sharpness at 100% preview? I'm not talking about AF, but sharpness, without watercolor effects. Can you give me your opinion comparing with the X-T3?
Thanks
So true water color on my x t3 is disgusting
Nice video as always! For wildlife would you prefer the XHS over this??
Maybe it’s just me, but when I went to my local camera store to try out the new X-H2s body I felt that the back dial was way too far out to the side which made it hard to turn without somehow loosening my grip on the camera or basically lifting my palm entirely. Maybe I’m too used to my X-T3, did you feel that the dial placement was comfortable?
Thanks for the video, Omar. The noise looks not that great in the dull light, TBH. My only gripe with my X-Pro3 (besides the 50 shots per battery, lol) is the noise much above base ISO in low-ish light, particularly at small apertures. In bright light, no noise (yay!) but at higher ISO, using something like my XF100-400, not super happy. So although I'm keen to buy an X-H2, not keen to trade off noise performance for the extra resolution. But then I don't need the speed of the X-H2S, so yeah, there you go... choices choices. For small birds in bushes, a small focus box moved around like in a Pacman game seems to work the best.
Have you tried using denoise AI? I use it for ISO 6400 photos, and it removes the noise without blurring details. It works like magic and since I discovered denoise AI I stoped carring about noise at higher ISO.
@@PabloB888 Yes, I've used it and found it does reduce detail (smeary look) but maybe that's user error on my side.
Great video, Omar. Does anyone know where the list can be found?
Very fair callout for not knowing the camera inside and out. We don't get that disclaimer enough from reviewers who understandably have a camera only for a couple of days. Too many confidently wrong statements about features missing that are actually there.
Is the red record button to the right of the shutter button not the instant 'record video' button? Other reviews I saw mentioned how nice it was to have a dedicated button for it. Also, love your videos as always, appreciate you not trying to sell us anything haha.
Props for the Orioles hat.
I have custom modes 1 and 2 exactly the same, but one is bird profile and one is animal. That's the fastest way I feel to swap between subjects. I mean... 7 profiles to use and I can't imagine needing all of them for my purposes
Lol 😂 I kept waiting on him to transform into Gru
Nice Video as always! How about a comparison between Sony a7 and the XH2 - size wise?
Google is your friend. Found results in less than a minute by searching "Sony a7 and the XH2 size"
Hey there Omar, I guess the biggest question mark around that sensor was how did it behave with noise in comparison to other Fuji sensors.
I think the stacked 26MP sensor in the X-H2S is very close in that regard to the 26MP sensor that Fuji has been using in the X-T3/4, so maybe you could compare the two?
Like I have the feeling that the lower MP sensor has better noise performance, do you think it would be worth getting the X-H2S instead of the X-H2 for wildlife even if that means less resolution and cropping power?
The X-H2 is a little bit noisier than the X-H2S.
@@frankthissen3338 As he said...
That's exactly my question. For birds/BIF, when you normally crop a lot, would it still be better to go with the H2S? Did you ever decide, and have you bought one?
Love the content, always have, everything I learned about my XT20, I learned on this channel. GREAT stuff. Keep up the GREAT work.
F8 is pretty high especially in low light, as you mentioned could be an issue with high iso, mostly if your shutter speed is high, made even worse by APSC. A slow shutter speed isnt good for bird photography
yes, f8 is too much
I think Fujifilm’s list of approved lenses has probably just created confusion. Any lens will resolve more detail with a higher resolution sensor.
Been saying this to people lol. Regardless of what lens you use on the xh2, it will have more detail than it would on the xt4
Thanks for the entertaining and helpful video Omar. I'm an X-T4 user and have just picked up the X-H2 and have been really curious to see how the AF performs for bird and wildlife photography. I've not had a proper chance to test it out, so it's helpful to hear your early thoughts about it. I'm not sure how I feel about it's functionality as yet (as I love the tactile nature of the X-T4). But you're spot on about having to use it for a longer period before making a call on it.
For this I would leave it in MF + AF. So when it gets confused you can just grab the focusing ring and manually focus it. This would be quicker for me.
i hope the x-t5 has the same sensor and the grip from the x-s10!
I'd splurg!!!
I hope they shrink the XT5 to X70 size
@@ogonzilla I hope they bring back the x-trans 2 sensor and give it the new autofocus
But 16mp doesn't sound sexy I guess
That’d be a bad business move on them. Would make their camera lines too closely related. I think they’ll keep the traditional cam build with the XT line, and keep the larger grip for their modern hybrid cam builds
Any recommendation of card speed needed for the SD slot? Photography min, video min? There are recommendations for the CfXpress, but not the SD, thats why I’m asking.
The sd wouldn’t even record video lol. Had to put in a CF. But I didn’t investigate enough.
40 Mpx on APS-C has the pixel pitch of a 98 Mpx FF . It is comparable to the 26Mpx of the new Panasonic GH6. A challenge for the lenses and for our wallet.
Thanks for your videos Omar . I have an issue with mine , just got it. When I take a picture, I get the "Recording" message on the screen after about 2 seconds , is nuts LOL , Is supposed to playback the image asap. I have good high speed cards and all of my settings are good, the way you have them. Thoughts? I would really appreciate your help. Thank you !!
We used to go to Garret Mountain all the time. I found fossils there.
What were your thoughts on the 150-600? My local store got one in by chance I I snagged it up. Shot my daughters daytime band competitions with it but not really sure what I’ll use it for yet but I’m sure I can see you from here!
Wait…you’re an O’s fan, too?!? 👍👍
Hahahaha "You ever see Gladiator?". Omar "Maximus".
Interesting observation regarding knowing the character of your camera. Recently I went on a safari in Africa with my X-T2 and obviously it doesn't have these fancy tracking modes for birding. Instead I used single point focusing for the eyes of birds and mammals, but I must admit that the hit rate was around 50%. Not so good in other words :/
For those pics with more noise, you could show us the original pics VS after applying Topaz DeNoise
love the video! Thanks Omar!
Just for image quality, do you prefer fujifilm apsc or canon nikon full frame sensor ?
Is it better on higher iso then the xt4?! I guess not, more pixels, that are way smaller and closer to each other...
Very good camera, but let's buy the first x100 first :)
BIG question: How noisy is this 40MP sensor vs the 26 MP sensor, given they are same physical surface area? The pixels on the 40MP sensor must be smaller -- theoretically, this should suggest it would be noisier at a similar ISO as the 26MP sensor. Can you answer this important question? Maybe a video on this issue too?
For landscape and street (with occasional subject in the middle) photography I am torn...:
This camera with the new 23 F1.4 R LM WR or the 33 F1.4 R LM WR
Help!?
So what would be your 1st choice between the xh2, xt5, a7iv , and z6ii?
Just got my new X-H2 and coming from an X-T4 its certainly a learning curve, but the custom modes are very good if set up correctly according to your personal preferences. My main gripe though is why oh why Fujifilm can we name the customer settings but when you switch to them the name is nowhere to be seen? Why not have an “option” to quickly flash up on screen the customer name you have assigned rather than just C1 through 7 in the corner.
I'm having a tough time deciding between this and the S. Might have to rent them both and try them out.
Can you RENT before buying??? Please tell me where!!!!😄😊
@@grafixnetz Don't think you can rent to buy but there are rental places that rent popular cameras like Sony, Canon and Nikon. Some places carry the Fuji XT series, I'm hoping that these cameras will turn up as rentals.
@@tonyrodney9610 I could 'cheat' and buy from Amazon, but it would bother my conscience too much. I have only once taken undue advantage of their return policy.
@@grafixnetz yeah that’s the only option i found, currently going to return a Nikon z5 to Best Buy, seems to have an issue where it’s unreliable and locks up, I think its just mine as I’ve not seen anyone else talk about it, trying to decide between x-t5 or the a7iv, i know they are vastly different but both are appealing to me for different reasons, not sure if there is a canon i should be adding in the comparison
@@xd3adliftx If Canon then the only option I found to meet my needs is the R7. Considering the high cost of changing systems, I opted for the X-H2 and am happy with my decision. If you want 'vintage' Fuji then the X-T5 may be the better choice. I should get the new style memory card but that adds a couple hundred $$$. The X-T5 uses 2 SD cards, which hinders speed somewhat in some cases.
I'm looking forward to an x-s20 or x-t50 for a B camera though:)
Always funny and interesting ❤️
