I think if Milroe could throw the ball more accurately the defense has to respect not just the run but also his passing game. He also targets 1 receiver for most games. If he could read defenses he could also spread the ball around. If the opposing teams take the quarterback run away we lose because there is no passing game.
DeBoer and the staff can only do so much with Milroe at QB! Here’s the thing, DeBoer inherited a 2 loss team that even Saban had a really hard time getting this bunch to play at a high level…Kalan got that team plus lost 40+ players off that roster to the draft or portal! There isn’t a coach out there who can take over a team, lose 40+ players off of the roster just 10 months ago, hire an entire new coaching staff, and then have to play a QB who’s not capable of running the offense who’s gonna be great in there first year! Bama is on the way up, just gotta give DeBoer time to get thru these first year issues and get the players in here to run his system. Sure he may make new coaching changes as well, but DeBoer is doing the best he can with what he’s got!! I have 100% faith that Coach will fix the issues and build an unstoppable program.
@@mattbarker1411 They brought in 14 from the transfer portal. 40 players transfers out or went to the draft. 20 left before Saban retired, 10 after he retired and 10 selected in the draft
I don’t think it’s completely a Jalen Milroe problem, I think it’s a Coaching Staff and OC problem. When Deboer got to Alabama he was immediately on a time crunch and he didn’t have much time to make a coaching staff that was as good as Nick Sabans, Nick Saban wasn’t dominant because of him alone, it was that he was great and he had a great support staff around him, I think that if we don’t make the playoffs then just beat Auburn and win the bowl game and allow Deboer to fix things in the offseason
I would give Jalen some blame. Here’s my problem with Jalen he doesn’t have the necessary pocket mechanics or even the fundamentals you need as a quarterback. Teams don’t believe he can consistently beat them throwing from the pocket. My worry is his play by play accuracy, and sometimes his decision making can be cause for concern. But also the offensive play calling really isn’t that great either, it’s become way too predictable.
Before this season started I told a few folks that Jalen milroe wouldn’t even be better than Blake sims & they called me crazy…. Look who sounds crazy now
You should do a little research there buddy. Milroe's stats are actually a little better than Sims. And on top of that. Sims didn't have to worry about being sacked as much. 14 TIMES in his career at Bama. Milroe has put up the same or better numbers at Bama, even though he's had to worry about being sacked WAY MORE. 67 TIMES he's been sacked to be exact. Numbers don't lie.
It is widely known that when Milroe was benched last year, the Offense quit playing hard. They would not play for anyone but Milroe. That attitude carried to this season.

I mean he is the leading rusher the team has right now. Imagine what a real OC could do with another QB under center and Milroe in the backfield. They would be the first two QB backfield at the same time in college football. Think of the offense that could be drawn up. A new variant of the wishbone could come into play. Think of the headaches it would give defenses. Just a thought.

Say what you will about Will Howard, but Ryan Day has taught him to firm up a plateau high enough for OSU to be a formidable team. I wonder if any NFL team could use him as a reliable backup.

Jalen Hurts is a good example. You can tell he started working on his field iq and look at what happens. Athleticism plus field IQ turns you into Tom Brady. Biggest mistake deborr made was keeping him. Shoulda let him walk. Not sure dude even listened to saban. Just an average game manager would have given bama one less loss, meaning bama would have been guaranteed to make playoffs.
When your QB has more carries than your RB’s I’d call that a problem. Maybe it would be acceptable if you had 5 Ryan Williams type WR’s and you ran 5 WR 90% of the time and your offense was working. Bama has RB’s that would start just about anywhere else. Challenge the O-line, line up and play grown man football. Make them stop the run. And don’t let Milroe run the ball 30 times a game. Hell maybe put in Ty Simpson and let’s see how he runs the offense!
Matt I have to disagree.....the reason Milroe is playing is to hold the locker room together. Last year the OC was having to explain concepts to Milroe. This year they can't even open the playbook. Bill O wanted him at TE. Maybe just maybe a QB that is not as good with his legs would open the playbook up. The O line never knows if it's going to be a run or a pass. Other teams know that if you contain Milroe you win the game.
He doesn't need to even think about coming back for his senior year. Seriously dude, we're good. Take your butt to the draft! See if you can find a job for DeBoer in the NFL too while you're at it.
"Does Alabama have a Milroe problem?". Yes. Because in all of Bama's losses, the number of turnovers if they weren't and were scores, Bama wins all those games and at least ties OU. So, it's impossible to say MIlroe hasn't been the problem. He's been the deciding factor in every game, so how can he not be the problem in the losses? It's said but it's the truth. When Bama isn't turning over the ball, they are moving the ball most of the time. If he were a good passer and consistently good at it, you could even overcome those INT's. Get a stop, go score. But that just hasn't been the case.
He shouldn’t be benched because he’s the best for this team. But he’s an incredible athlete and an average to below average QB. Bill O’Brian was 100% right. The same criticism that we had for last years offense is what we have for this years offense. That tells you something. The difference is a legendary coach coached his butt off to make that team be a 2 loss team and this year Bama has a good but not legendary coach. Listen to Saban’s criticism and the way they played this year. This team has talent but they’re in it for themselves not for the team. It wouldn’t be duds of games like this year but this team could never win a natty no matter who coached them.
Go watch every game after the Georgia game and tell me how many of those deep balls he has actually hit. Obviously ignore the drops, but just go look at how inaccurate he is now. Bro is missing wide open guys that a high school QB would hit. He and the WRs aren't meshing well for some reason.
It’s obviously not completely on Milroe, but it is clear that he was carried last season by the rest of the team, and Saban, to get in the playoff This year, no Saban, and the talent around him isn’t enough to make up for his blatant flaws
He’s being exposed for not being able to read a defense and coach isn’t hard enough to make them hungry for winning, I hope the NFL wants milrow or he’ll be back (shit)
The offense is to dependent on milroe and he not there yet due to his inconsistency and so is the entire team is in consistent. Not saying he wouldn't continue to improve in NFL im sure he can if he continue to work at it and stay focus on the the game.
It’s not because people think Ty is better overall than Milroe. It’s that they think Milroe isn’t doing the job rn and that it’s time for a change. Maybe defenses have figured out Milroe and now we need to give them something else to deal with.
Last year I defended Milroe bc our oline was trash and couldn’t even snap the ball Can’t put it on Milroe when he’s not getting the blocks or the snaps This year that’s not the case - oline while not perfect has been way better It seems Milroe is making the wrong reads especially with rpos We’ve been able to run the ball but it’s odd the minute we pop off a few good runs with our backs Milroe goes with a qb run with the defense spying him and loading the box Makes no sense and I can’t imagine an oc continuing to call those plays after getting stuff 4-5 times in the first half DeBoer is known for offense so there’s no way he’s calling those plays Milroe pulling it when he needs to be handing off time and time again That’s all on him - Ty or Mack may not be any better but I’d like to see tbh
I feel like Milroe is having similar issues that Jalen Hurts had at Alabama before transferring. Hurts defaulted to running whenever his first option got taken away. Milroe looks like he wants to do the same but under this coaching staff he’s FORCED to read and then throw. HE. CAN. RUN!!! LET HIM DO IT!!! hell, we had Blake Sims looking like a fucking heisman candidate and I can’t remember a single god damn throw the man made 😂 Yes, Alabama would be completely one dimensional offensively but let’s not forget when they had Derrick Henry in the back. EVERYBODY KNEW we were running it and we still did it. The offensive line in those years were considered “soft” by many fans until they got up and proved it that year. LET JALEN DO WHAT HES GOOD AT 💀 the line will grow up way quicker. They clearly don’t understand pass defense so stop it 💀
Good analysis Matt. I like JM, BUT, he's just inconsistent. He definitely has NFL talent, just needs to improve his throwing technique. I think he's gone after this year, one way, or, the other (NFL, transfer).
The average Bama fan looking in might say Milroe is the problem, but if you watch and study Bama as much as I do, which is nothing compared to you Matt, you'd know it's not Milroe. I personally think his mid-range passing has improved this year and his long ball has been struggling the past few games... So everyone does see it a little differently, but still. Milroe is not the main issue.
Is real funny how you say, Jalen is having a better year than Carson because of the interceptions, but Carson has more yards and more touchdowns, but you won’t him to be benched every game and not Jalen lol and cause an offensive line being hurt all year, and Jalen has the better receivers
I think Jalen milroe is a decent quarterback It’s just as a Alabama fan we’ve been spoiled with from the coach we had to the quarterbacks on down the line to the classic nick saban defense times have changed we just got to get use to the way the game is being played now. The issue Alabama has had with their quarterbacks is they like to hold the ball to long and with Jalen milroe he does the same thing he needs to take what the defense gives am and let our running backs get the ball and stop trying to run almost every play cause defenses know that’s what Alabama is going to do we need to change it
DeBoer took over a team that was a 2 loss team for Saban, a team that even Saban had a really hard time getting to play at a high level. Well DeBoer inherited that team minus 40+ players that went to the draft or portal, then he hired an entire new coaching staff, and he’s got a QB who can’t handle the concepts or mental part of the offense imo! Saban staff and now DeBoer’s staff seem to be handcuffed offensively with Milroe at QB. The young guys & real fans are riding with DeBoer tho, he had a ton of hurdles to overcome over the past 10 months and the guy is gonna fix the issues. He’s recruiting at a high level and has accumulated a whole lot of really talented young players. Soon as he finds an elite passer who’s smart and efficient, Bama is off to the races! Sure he will make a few coaching changes over the next year or so too, then Bama will be back. DeBoer was in a hole when he took over this situation and it’s gonna take a year or so to get things right. That’s the case for all first year coaches who have to hire a new staff and replace 40+ players on a team!!! Bama is on the way UP though, just gotta give him more than 10 months to fix the issues and there were plenty of them.
Bama is stuck between a Saban offense and a Deboer one that really never got to implement much this season. Why? Because Milroe is not a passing QB. So, Bama was stuck with Milroe's legs as the main offense. That isn't going to win much against teams that slow down or stop your run, or in this case, Milroe. The good news is that this wasn't Deboer's offense. Without a passing QB he was always going to have a season like this. He wasn't about to bench the QB that got Bama in the playoffs last year. If he did that and Bama still lost 3 games, it would be much worse from the fanbase. Give the man a year. Saban didn't win what, more than 7 games his first year. He also didn't play against NIL era SEC teams with the portal. I doubt Saban would have won 5 or 6 games that first year if he was facing an all around deeper SEC.
MattBeGreat, long-time sub, but first time commenting. I live through what I can the Halloween years of Bama football, when we had Mike: Debose, Price and Shula, and also fear the thumb which the barn beat us six years in a row. I hate to say it, but DeBore has a better record than Sabin did his first year, which included losses to Mississippi State, Auburn, and La Monroe. With that being said, though, at some point, he needs to be accountable for adjustments or the lack thereof and run the ball with our RBs, not Milroe. If the Barn coaches have a brain, they will use the Vandy and OU games as a blueprint, and it will be a tough game, but I hope DeBore used the AU players call outs as bulletin board material as Sabin did, and let’s see who posting tiktoks after the game. RTR, my friend.
Can't compare Sabans 1st year with Kalens 1st year, the talent on the 2 teams aren't comparable. Lets also not act like losing to those teams is as bad as losing to Vanderbilt and a crippled Oklahoma team that they couldn't even scored a TD on.
@@JW-wv6fp He is only good when he is able to run. On zone read plays he doesn't hand the ball to the running back when clearly that's the better option, he can't hit the quick short throws and his accuracy and timing struggles on intermediate throws. He can't process the defense fast enough. So tell me what does an offensive coordinator do? The offense is then reduced to zone read, QB runs and deep ball. He doesn't hand the ball off to the running backs when he gets the choice so it's reduced to QB runs and deep ball. All you have to do is load the box and get to milroe before the receivers get down the field.
He can't do anything but that. If a team is able to contain Milroe on the edge he shuts down. The only option at that point is feed our very talented running backs and give it a shot to win that way. In my opinion Alabama has both a horrible offensive coordinator and quarterback. I'm definitely not happy with the defensive coordinator either, don't like his schemes, lack of preparedness, no in game adjustments, etc. I think it's in the best interest of the Alabama team that all 3 of them are gone the instant this season concludes.
I’m gonna be honest I think Milroe is so disliked not just because he’s the QB but because he has a major ego problem I’m sure he’s a fantastic guy but when you play for schools like Alabama, Georgia, Texas and these other huge schools a little bit of it has to go to your head. Milroe seems to have this swagger unlike say Bryce Young who was calm and collected. But unlike Bryce Young Jalen Milroe doesn’t really have the stats to back it up Ironically it’s the exact opposite problem for GA. Stetson Bennett had a massive ego and swagger problem. But despite being a walk on he could play ball and was generally a team leader. Dude was drunk on Friday, hungover Saturday morning and taking names Saturday night. Carson Beck is so calm and collected but he doesn’t have that fire or desire to lead his team to victory
Already? It's iron bowl week... The season is over.... it's safe to say the dude is definitely part of the problem. These types of qbs always are at Alabama.
He's the Goodwill version of Jalen Hurts

If he could read defenses he could also spread the ball around. If the opposing teams take the quarterback run away we lose because there is no passing game.
The 3 games they lost, he had 28 rushing yards combined, therefore, if he can't run they lose. Offensive playbook obviously sucks as well
The offense sucks because they had to reduce it for what he can do

He doesn't need to even think about coming back for his senior year. Seriously dude, we're good. Take your butt to the draft! See if you can find a job for DeBoer in the NFL too while you're at it.
Happy thanksgiving Micheal
Great Video Megan! I saw you in West Virginia the other day. Why did you rob that Target though?
It’s obviously not completely on Milroe, but it is clear that he was carried last season by the rest of the team, and Saban, to get in the playoff
This year, no Saban, and the talent around him isn’t enough to make up for his blatant flaws
He runs way too damn much
We have a coaching problem. Saban sat hurts in a natty game,debore-me won't hurt anyone's feelings. There's no crying in football!!!
It’s not because people think Ty is better overall than Milroe. It’s that they think Milroe isn’t doing the job rn and that it’s time for a change. Maybe defenses have figured out Milroe and now we need to give them something else to deal with.
He should've been benched at the Michigan game last year. Permanently.
Hell, I say the Texas game of last year. *PERMANENTLY*
Last year I defended Milroe bc our oline was trash and couldn’t even snap the ball
Can’t put it on Milroe when he’s not getting the blocks or the snaps
This year that’s not the case - oline while not perfect has been way better
It seems Milroe is making the wrong reads especially with rpos
We’ve been able to run the ball but it’s odd the minute we pop off a few good runs with our backs
Milroe goes with a qb run with the defense spying him and loading the box
Makes no sense and I can’t imagine an oc continuing to call those plays after getting stuff 4-5 times in the first half
DeBoer is known for offense so there’s no way he’s calling those plays
Milroe pulling it when he needs to be handing off time and time again
That’s all on him - Ty or Mack may not be any better but I’d like to see tbh
I wish more of these sport pundits could be like Marky here, and be honest about Alabama this season.
They clearly don’t understand pass defense so stop it 💀
Lmbo
They did let him run..... He didn't go anywhere and scored 3 points.
Good analysis Matt. I like JM, BUT, he's just inconsistent. He definitely has NFL talent, just needs to improve his throwing technique. I think he's gone after this year, one way, or, the other (NFL, transfer).
Alabama will never be the same
The average Bama fan looking in might say Milroe is the problem, but if you watch and study Bama as much as I do, which is nothing compared to you Matt, you'd know it's not Milroe.
14 not 40. Why type all this bs multiple times when most of its just crap you made up?

I mean if practice is an indication of who is better than maybe Milroe is better. TY has barely played in actual games so we really don’t know.
Marty you were just glazing Simpson saying that you have the best back up qb in college football
Another great video madeabediddy

Not Bad information MattbeBriddyRiddy
Daboer also has much better talent than saban had his first year.
Good video Clarence Thompson!
The only problem he has is he doesnt have his CDL yet 😂
Most athletic truck driver. 😂
Slow news day mat
I also love your video
No one blocks on the road. It's pitiful
Jalen Milroe had a Sooner defense problem.
Milroe isn’t a Qb. Like all black Qbs he’s just a RB.
Matt make college basketball 🏀 content again roll tide
thoughts on Alabama basketball? anyway great video from MattBeCookingBabyGronkInFootball
Alabama losing has broken Matt's mind. He is now referring to himself in the third person "we." #MattBeDrXavier
JalenBeGREAT - PLEASE
Its NIL. When the qb is the highest paid player on the field. Hes playing. Look at Dak.
It’s on the coaching staff for not not adjusting and game planning around his deficits when a team takes away his ability to run on the edges.
I’m gonna be honest
I think Milroe is so disliked not just because he’s the QB but because he has a major ego problem
I’m sure he’s a fantastic guy but when you play for schools like Alabama, Georgia, Texas and these other huge schools a little bit of it has to go to your head.
Milroe seems to have this swagger unlike say Bryce Young who was calm and collected. But unlike Bryce Young Jalen Milroe doesn’t really have the stats to back it up
Ironically it’s the exact opposite problem for GA.
Throwing him under the bus already
? Coaching? Variety of plays?
Already? It's iron bowl week... The season is over.... it's safe to say the dude is definitely part of the problem. These types of qbs always are at Alabama.
