DeBoer and the staff can only do so much with Milroe at QB! Here’s the thing, DeBoer inherited a 2 loss team that even Saban had a really hard time getting this bunch to play at a high level…Kalan got that team plus lost 40+ players off that roster to the draft or portal! There isn’t a coach out there who can take over a team, lose 40+ players off of the roster just 10 months ago, hire an entire new coaching staff, and then have to play a QB who’s not capable of running the offense who’s gonna be great in there first year! Bama is on the way up, just gotta give DeBoer time to get thru these first year issues and get the players in here to run his system. Sure he may make new coaching changes as well, but DeBoer is doing the best he can with what he’s got!! I have 100% faith that Coach will fix the issues and build an unstoppable program.

I don’t think it’s completely a Jalen Milroe problem, I think it’s a Coaching Staff and OC problem. When Deboer got to Alabama he was immediately on a time crunch and he didn’t have much time to make a coaching staff that was as good as Nick Sabans, Nick Saban wasn’t dominant because of him alone, it was that he was great and he had a great support staff around him, I think that if we don’t make the playoffs then just beat Auburn and win the bowl game and allow Deboer to fix things in the offseason

I think if Milroe could throw the ball more accurately the defense has to respect not just the run but also his passing game. He also targets 1 receiver for most games. If he could read defenses he could also spread the ball around. If the opposing teams take the quarterback run away we lose because there is no passing game.

You mean the same Jalen Milroe that sat behind Bryce Young for two years and has started the last two years? He can't read the Zone Defense and can't run the RPO. He is a ball hog. He doesn't follow blocks. Even the commentators said during the Oklahoma game he was starring down receivers before throwing it to them. He throw a 60 year pass to nobody. Even Jake Coker said that attempt at a tackle says alor about his leadership. No intermediate passes and cant go through progressions. I think if ty simpson would played the whole game last year against usf the dcore would be a lot better. I think the only reason he is still the starter is his NIL deals. And KB is more worried about being friends than whats right by the team.

I would give Jalen some blame. Here’s my problem with Jalen he doesn’t have the necessary pocket mechanics or even the fundamentals you need as a quarterback. Teams don’t believe he can consistently beat them throwing from the pocket. My worry is his play by play accuracy, and sometimes his decision making can be cause for concern. But also the offensive play calling really isn’t that great either, it’s become way too predictable.

The team has been held hostage by the Cancer 5. They told Saban that if Milroe wasn't starting they would lay down. Proof of that is how the O-line played against South Florida in 2023 when Milroe was benched. This again shows how weak Deboer is as a coach; that he even named Milroe a captain.

You should do a little research there buddy. Milroe's stats are actually a little better than Sims. And on top of that. Sims didn't have to worry about being sacked as much. 14 TIMES in his career at Bama. I'll answer your question with another question. Since Milroe is perhaps one of the most athletic person on the team, and is known for his runs. Why not make him a RB/WR? I mean he is the leading rusher the team has right now. Imagine what a real OC could do with another QB under center and Milroe in the backfield. They would be the first two QB backfield at the same time in college football. Think of the offense that could be drawn up. A new variant of the wishbone could come into play. Think of the headaches it would give defenses. Just a thought.

Maybe it would be acceptable if you had 5 Ryan Williams type WR’s and you ran 5 WR 90% of the time and your offense was working. Bama has RB’s that would start just about anywhere else. Challenge the O-line, line up and play grown man football. Make them stop the run. And don’t let Milroe run the ball 30 times a game. Just an average game manager would have given bama one less loss, meaning bama would have been guaranteed to make playoffs.

It’s not because people think Ty is better overall than Milroe. It’s that they think Milroe isn’t doing the job rn and that it’s time for a change. Maybe defenses have figured out Milroe and now we need to give them something else to deal with.

Bama Receivers don’t get any separation.. we always want Milroe to make anticipation throws, but when he do, the receivers are not there and it’s a turnover.. It’s a reason why 5 and 2 are the main receivers.. the other ones are still learning the offense

Let’s just call it what it is….Alabama has always, at least within the last 15 years, been a team that hasn’t really produced very good quarterbacks. Instead, it has been a place where below-average quarterbacks go and look far better than they truly are because of the fact that they have a whole offensive line full of high 4-star and 5-star talent, 5-star running backs, and 5-star wide receivers. This has always made Alabama quarterbacks look far greater than they really were because Alabama, as a team, was 90% of the time far greater than the opponents they played. Now, in the last few years, with NIL, the transfer portal, and all, more teams are becoming equally competitive, which is now showing that Alabama isn’t the place where any below-average quarterback can go and look far better than they really are. Just look at all the Alabama quarterbacks that have gone to the NFL in the last 15 years - not one of them was ever a top 5 quarterback in the NFL.

There’s a million different problems with this Alabama team, but they’re still very young and the coaching staff is new to the SEC. Im an Alabama fan and as disappointing as this season was, I kind of expected it. SEC is a completely different ball game and I’ve chalked this season up to the coaching staff learning differences of the SEC and the players are still very young and trying to adjust to new schemes offensively and defensively. I think in a year or two Kalen DeBoer will have it all figured out and we’ll see a completely different Alabama team. The fact that Kalen DeBoer has only lost 3 games in his first year coaching in the SEC is kind of impressive. All of the other big names you’ve seen in the SEC didn’t come close to that record in their first year and yea I know there’s a big difference in the rosters but it’s still new schemes and new coaching staff. They need time to adjust. I think the future for this team is very bright despite the season they’ve had this year.

I totally disagree with matt this is Jalen’s fourth year with Alabama. He has many more games starting than Ty Simpson. if Ty Simpson would’ve been playing all last year as a starter they’re not even close. Simpson is an actual quarterback. He can read defenses and throw the ball accurately and catchable.

Jalen Milroe is a world class athlete. He could play any sport and excel. Ive noticed a pattern with athletes like this, they rely too heavily on their athleticism and not on reading defenses. Jalen Hurts is a good example. You can tell he started working on his field iq and look at what happens. Athleticism plus field IQ turns you into Tom Brady. Remember the IQ lasts the athleticism fades.

Go watch every game after the Georgia game and tell me how many of those deep balls he has actually hit. Obviously ignore the drops, but just go look at how inaccurate he is now. Bro is missing wide open guys that a high school QB would hit. He and the WRs aren't meshing well for some reason.

The problem with literally ANY AL QB is that they run the plays that are called. People can say Milroe makes poor decisions with RPO's, but now add in an O-line leaving holes, giving the QB limited time to pitch the ball before being chased down?!
    Definitely a coaching issue, IMO.

The offense is to dependent on milroe and he not there yet due to his inconsistency and so is the entire team is in consistent. Not saying he wouldn't continue to improve in NFL im sure he can if he continue to work at it and stay focus on the the game.

I’ve been saying this for a while. Especially after that second half against Georgia, they might’ve just found the recipe to stop Jalen and that offense. Then they went on to lose to Vandy that next game. I should’ve bet on it but that was toooo risky 😂

Bro just a running back with a low key good hand it’s not gone work .. RG3 for an example
Yes the dual threat quarterback is a hood package to have but only few qb in history made anything of it
    Lamar Jackson
    Cam newton
    And Mike Vick
So the odds of being a great qb as a duel threat is low

Jalen is very talented, but he lacks refinements for the next level as a passer. He has a long delivery, but very good velocity, and you mentioned the long balls. Jalen hasn't ever learned how to "work a defense" for advantages, and he struggles reading defenses overall. He is a great person, but it doesn't translate to consistently high level play or great field leadership. Reminds me of some players who have great physical skills but who are never challenged by a coach to refine their game to become a great player. Coaches just give them the ball, call a play, and tell them to win the game. Love you, Jalen, but need depth to your ability to lead and manage an offense if the next level will be success!

"Does Alabama have a Milroe problem?". Yes. Because in all of Bama's losses, the number of turnovers if they weren't and were scores, Bama wins all those games and at least ties OU. So, it's impossible to say MIlroe hasn't been the problem. He's been the deciding factor in every game, so how can he not be the problem in the losses? It's said but it's the truth. When Bama isn't turning over the ball, they are moving the ball most of the time. If he were a good passer and consistently good at it, you could even overcome those INT's. Get a stop, go score. But that just hasn't been the case.

Saban did not bench Milroe to prove to the world that the other QB's sucked. Info from inside the program said he benched him for his BS attitude. Then the players supporting Milroe intentionally tanked in the South Florida game to show their disapproval. That moment was the beginning of the end for Saban. He knew at that moment he was STUCK with Milroe, and the inmates were running the asylum. Fast forward to Deboer. How do you not start the incumbent QB who stayed with the program to "keep the team together" ? Deboer was also STUCK with Milroe. This is why Ryan Grubb bailed for the pros. He knew Milroe could not run his offense, and he didnt want to be saddled with that albatross.
Now you have scuttlebutt saying the University of Alabama entered into some sort of business partnership with Milroe (potentially keeping him from being benched), along with a handful of starters again threatening to lay down if Milroe is benched. If Milroe is the bast QB in the program, Bama is screwed for a long time coming. He is horrific as a QB. He is an OC eliminator, because he can't execute the dumbed down 3 play game plan.

  • @mr.g1758
    @mr.g1758 Місяць тому

I appreciate Milroe's efforts. I know he is trying to win, but I think Bill O'Brien (who I was no fan of) was right. Milroe would have been a better RB. He has no touch on the ball, and seemingly struggles seeing the field when throwing.
I think the gem in the trough is Lonergan. As a freshman on ADay he took our offense down the field to score and shows promise in threading the needle on throws.
We need to get another QB ready for next year. Not sure Ty is there. We'll see.
