The point of this vid was to show why validation signals for you to stop wasting time building something people don’t want. The point was not the “prompt builder” itself. In fact it is better that it didn’t succeed because the purpose of the vid was to know quickly whether an idea is valid enough to build it, or when it’s best to fail quickly and build something better.
Warning: In case of failure, it doesn't mean people aren't interested your Sass idea, what it means is that people aren't interested in your Sass specifically the way you presented it. In other words, think of budlight's recent failed ad, just because the ad failed, it doesn't mean people aren't interested in beer, it just means people who are interested in budlight beer do not care about what the ad was communicating.
Just wanted to say this is one of the best videos on business idea validation I have seen. I have been on accelerator programmes in the past and this sums up the whole general process in 10 minutes. Great work!
Totally agree. I'm following this although what I'm building is going to scratch my own itch and it isn't too big of a lift so I'll probably build it regardless of market feedback. But my brother is starting an AI podcast and we need something to "sponsor" it. Make the podcast look legit from day 1 and hopefully capture some interest.
Man I love your SaaS videos, you motivate me to build a SaaS product and you make hard things look very easy. Thankyou for your kind support man you are my number 1 SaaS Business Channel
I don't comment often, but this is amazing. Everywhere you keep hearing that you have to validate your account, but never how it's done. This gave me great insights in how i should approach it now. Thank you Simon!
Hey Simon, i really loved your content. you are giving tons of information just in 10 minutes and your content is pure Gold. hope you would get more success
How can you acquire so much knowledge for free in just 10 minutes? Universities, master's, and doctoral programs, online courses, mentorships, and masterclasses all cost a lot of money and take a lot of time, and we often come out without that essential knowledge. Congratulations, you deserve an award.
I think that the Prompt Designer is a new concept and people may not understand what value they can get from it, I think that in this particular case a prototype may be needed from the beginning
You make these very smart strategies look soooo easy, well done! Love the timing as I'm actually buying a small startup right now. My guess is 50 sign ups, that idea was interesting! Cheers!
the audience was not the appropiate one, I'm sure the ad would work way better on a more targeted audience with a general AI interest. Anyway, audience is the key in every aspect of ad campaigns and if you dont get the audience right the results will be very very poor
Excellent content. As a marketer who has a ton of experience running ads,AND someone who is absolutely interested in your idea, I would be wary about the Traffic campaign. Those clicks are notoriously low intent, and many of which are likely bots clicking on your ads. A conversion campaign objective would 100% yielded way, way better results. Excellent content!
Thanks, Joel! Yes, I totally agree with you - the catch is, that you now have to let the campaign run for substantially longer (and probably need to raise the budget as well) in order for Facebook to exit the learning phase and start giving you accurate results. At least, that's my experience. But yes, I do agree with the issue of low intent on traffic campaigns. The issue with bots can partially be mitigated by choosing the "Landing page view" goal instead of "Clicks" (again, in my experience). Thanks for your feedback as an experienced advertiser! Highly appreciated 🙌
Hi Simon, I followed your video and ran my ad for a week. Instead of using a website, I used Instant Forms to gather leads through a 3-step form where people enter their name and email at the end. I received 55 sign-ups, and since I don't have page views, I'm considering the clicks to the ad CTA as page views. I find the 57%+ sign-up rate to be crazy high. What are your thoughts on the accuracy of this method with instant forms and clicks?
Hey Simon, I trade NFTs and one thing I noticed is that when NFT projects reveal too much too early, a competitor quickly beats them and copies the whole idea. Basically to steal the potential revenue and the customers, I know its scummy but I've seen it far too much to ignore that it could happen. Whats your opinion on revealing the app concept early on through validating? Even if you come off like you are almost done, you're still racing against the clock for other people that could potentially have more money/connections than you meaning they're able to beat you in taking your idea.
Great job Simon! The tricky and most important point here is that the timing and the advertisement can really reach its target (the audience who knows what it means really); Why? If you asked people 50 years ago, "Would you buy a phone with a touchscreen computer-like?" probably the project would have been canceled because the only 11 people said "yes". but today smart phone is billion$ market. So i think there is still time!
I agree, the audience was not the appropiate one, I'm sure the ad would work way better on a more targeted audience with a general AI interest. Anyway, audience is the key in every aspect of ad campaigns and if you dont get the audience right the results will be very very poor
Watching you use AI to analyze data and make informed decisions is amazing. This innovative approach is a testament to the transformational landscape of entrepreneurship. Great information and inspiration for anyone looking to effectively test their SaaS ideas.
Honestly definitely needed to see this video, I have actually been in the process of planning an easily accessible Digital Marketing Hub/User Interface SaaS that powers off of the Meta Marketing API (If within my power to do so). Ive noticed with Meta’s hub that people are easily confused with it and often give up and pay someone else to do their ads because they aren’t sure of how to use Metas ad campaign hub or even how to get to it.
Awesome! Yes, I know a lot of people who find Meta's ad platform super intimidating and confusing. (Honestly, LinkedIn and Google's aren't much better...)
@@SimonHoiberg so true! I dived a little into googles as well and can definitely agree it is not much better at all lol I wonder if I can apply an API to all 3 and maybe even TikTok as well. Would make digital marketing much easier and so much more accessible for growing businesses!
The video is great Simon, thank you. I have two technical questions. First one, why using framer rather then something else like wordpress or webflow. Second, is it hard to make an A/B test with this setup?
Great questions! 1) I like Framer because it's very fast to get a website set up. Though, WordPress and Webflow are excellent choices as well, if that's what you prefer. 2) No, you can definitely set up A/B testing with this setup. Depending on how thorough you want to be, it's a great idea to A/B test both the landing page and the ads (Facebook's ads manager has inbuilt support for A/B testing as well).
This is just amazing content. For some weeks now i was wondering how to validate my idea and i finally found the answer today. Thanks allot for your help and that too for free :D
Wow, what a amazing video! Thanks for actually showing the process and not just talking about it. As a software engineer who has couple ideas but not sure if there is a market for it this video was tremendously valuable to me and got more knowledge on to how to actually validated your idea.
wow I'm so thankful, this video is absolutely amazing bro! A real practice of the talk, loved it, thanks a lot for your generosity by sharing your knowledge, toolset and experience with us. God bless you!😀 You've got a new suscriber ✅
This is one of the most valuable/helpful videos I’ve come across lately! Great tools and you did an awesome job showing how to put them to use. Great video 👍
That was really helpful. Your channel is one of the best on UA-cam, thank you so much for the valuable content and insightful ideas to help us think out of the box in order to validate new business ideas.
Working on ad copy and landing page should increase conversion, maybe to an acceptable level. For example "We are launching a new product" is a super weak opening line. I would start with something like "These prompts make ChatGPT 300% smarter." Or maybe I would try some story-driven indirect ad like "I couldn't figure out if is it me being dumb or chatGPT?" And go in the direction of how much prompts really matter.
Great video. We used to do similar 15 years ago to test demand in various markets. Just because it failed in USA might be successful in another market so that’s also worth checking
Great video, with step by step methods and actual data. Shows the importance of validation! Just wondering what the next step would be if you didn't receive many emails after perhaps tackling the idea (and ads etc.) from a couple of different angles. Would you email the respondents and let them know it's a no-go? Or keep them on a list for your next idea if similar?
Hey Simon! Thanks for the video! It was one of the best contents on the topic I have ever seen, straight forward + simple and practical. I just had one question, How could we better find out if the lack of conversion was because of "bad" landing page design or the idea itself? Is it worth to put money into designing the landing page? is it personal preference? ( how much I want to invest on the idea? )
Closer to the end of the video. And i'm telling you, this guy is absolutely amazing. I was just going to pay somebody $800 to create a landing page and now im saved lol. Anyway, im thinking you got 10 sign ups but lets see.
Great video packed full of info! I'm in the process of creating a landing page and came across an issues that I'm not sure the answer to. Do you need to include privacy policy and cookie consent banner on the fake door websites so that you can track web traffic and legally store email addresses?
Very valuable video! I teach innovation and business design to my clients. I’m definitely pointing them at this video during my classes ❤ Thank you Simon! Keep up the brilliant content!
With everyone coming to terms with AI and prompt engineering, I think the idea is valid, the audience to show this too was very broad. Facebook ads are a tricky advertising tool. It’s designed to take your money if you don’t do things right, with so many moving parts, the wrong selection could cost you $$$$. Personally I loved the idea, good video Simon 😀
Hey Simon, genuinely speaking, I was thinking of building a prompt template for a specific niche today while sitting on a bus when I was coming back home from my office. And now at home, I opened YT and got your video. Surprised at how the YT algorithm has understood my thinking!!! Thank you so much. Your content is beneficial
Thanks for sharing this process. I have an app idea that came to mind after watching this video and I'm gonna use this method to validate it. Even if it doesn't work this will definitely be an interesting experiment.
Unfortunately, it's not. Both ads + landing page are down now. But I can republish it on a separate framer-domain to showcase. That's a great idea, actually 😁
@@SimonHoiberg I wasn't able to find an archived version of it on their website, but I printed the newsletter as a pdf and dm'ed it to you on Instagram. Hope that helps!
This has been my favourite video on UA-cam in a long time, glad I came across this. My guess was 70, you’ve made us all so ambitious😂 also do u think this same validation test could work for something outside of Saas? Probably going to binge a few more of your videos 🙏
I had already been thinking about this idea some time ago, but today, considering that you're talking about a prompt for anything, chatGPT already fulfills that, just ask a few times. There is actually another alternative. If you focus on just one niche, instead of any prompt for anything, you will probably get better results in that niche because you're essentially focusing on one problem, rather than all of them at once. For example, if you focus on marketing campaigns and the website/app, and provide a guided interface to fill in prompt requirements, you will likely achieve more accurate results. The same goes for product specialists (PO). You would simply input the steps the user story aims to address, the objective, the pain point it wants to solve or improve, the expected outcome, and finally, the functional and non-functional requirements. If you fill in each item in a guided interface before reaching the prompt, the result will already be refined before it's even generated.
Thanks Simon! I can always learn something new from your videos 🙂I'm building a web application, but after watching this video I decided to try this method. So I stopped building the app and I focus on the landing page first (users will have the possibility though to test some of the functions on the landing page). My question is if we should add a "Privacy policy" page already in the validation phase? The app will be a B2B tool.
This video is pure gold! Thank you man! I would like to ask a question to anyone how can answer. When I read or watch videos about ideas validations I always think, how can you be sure that anyone else will not copy your idea and develop it?
You can't and they will. Every product is an iteration on something else anyway so it's just the way it is. Have your V2 in mind before your release your V1 so you're keeping ahead. Your job is to keep pushing ahead - that's what you can control.
What would you suggest if the SaaS idea is for a B2B audience? What would be the best way to decide on and reach a target audience that would mainly include corporations as well as the government?
hey simon hoiberg i have been watching your videos lately and i am so impressed with your content but yk for someone like us (beginner) want to know how exactly the saas works and do things how the buttons operate how the people are gonna use it etc etc these are some doubts i am having lately can you please guide ? and yep your content is best appreciated
Q: You emphasizes that validation provides signals and indicators rather than definitive proof. But than what signals/indicators? Probably if you get 300 signups as you said in the example, you might have a indicator that there is an interest but than they (the users) might not use it or not pay for it? I really enjoyed the video - thanks for sharing.
Simon, this is a great video on how to test the validity of a concept and also providing some insight into how ad managers like Google and Facebook work. However, I'm certain (I may be wrong) that you did not state how much your ad spend was overall. Also, can you tell if it is possible on the Google or Facebook ad form to stop an ad campaign when it reaches a specific monetary value or budget, i.e. do not spend over £100 or $100, or is this not possible?
Simon, love your videos! Are really great and great productions! One question: The voice of the video, it's your voice or it's an AI voice over? If it's an AI voice over, it's super great !
No, not an AI voice over at all 😄 The only part where I used AI is towards the end in the "living room" scene. My living room has a ton of reverb, so I used Adobe's Podcast software to enhance it - and it did come off a little "AI-ish" to be fair 😊
Thanks for the forecast! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Hello, amazing video! I was wondering where you can get that 3D robot image that u used. I have an idea with chat and flowbots, and would love to use that robot too. Thanks in advance
why not, if you are in the UK (though I suspect their offer is valid elsewhere) you could use IONOS and get a free domain name with a professional Webmail account with them (really cheap - Oct 2024).
Really cool. If you had decided to move forward with the idea, what would you tell the people who signed up? It’ll take some time to build out the product so how do you keep the people who were interested engaged?

What excellent timing with a fantastic video. Implementing this tomorrow!
Awesome 💪
Let us know how it goes!
Thanks for sharing this process. I have an app idea that came to mind after watching this video and I'm gonna use this method to validate it. Even if it doesn't work this will definitely be an interesting experiment.
is the landing page still live? would love to check it out to get an idea on how to create good landing pages :) great vid as always!
Unfortunately, it's not. Both ads + landing page are down now.
But I can republish it on a separate framer-domain to showcase. That's a great idea, actually 😁
Thatd be great! 💪🏼
Hey Simon, great video, your channel is full of gold! Just wondering, where do you get those icons from plus that robot image? Thanks in advance
seeing you feels good man
Haha, thanks man 😁
Congrats Simon for getting this video featured in the TLDR Founders newsletter today (2023-05-24)! Well deserved.
That's awesome 🤩
Do you have a link to the issue?
@@SimonHoiberg I wasn't able to find an archived version of it on their website, but I printed the newsletter as a pdf and dm'ed it to you on Instagram. Hope that helps!
This has been my favourite video on UA-cam in a long time, glad I came across this. My guess was 70, you’ve made us all so ambitious😂 also do u think this same validation test could work for something outside of Saas? Probably going to binge a few more of your videos 🙏
Thanks a lot 🙏
I'm happy to hear that - and yes, totally think a similar approach could work with eCommerce products, for instance.
I like that!
I actually touch on this in another video: ua-cam.com/video/qg5GNh3mn2o/v-deo.html
This channel is a gold mine
Dammmn, the video quality is amazing!!!
Thanks a lot 😄
Thank you Simon. this is exactly what I needed. Love your content!
Your content is amazing! You work is amazing! Good job!
I am so grateful to have seen this. Thank you!
I'm super happy to hear that!
Glad it was valuable.
Thank you for the video Simon, this is great. Is there an all in one validation tool now a days instead of having to go between Figma, Framer etc.?
Nice idea ! Thanks for uploading. Also your video animation is awesome.
Thanks 😊 Glad you liked it!
Your content was very helpful, I'm planning to make SaaS, your videos are great for beginners like me
I'm happy to hear that, James 🙌
This video is truly fantastic. I am doing this right now!
Awesome video as always! What do you consider a good amount of signups?
What would you suggest if the SaaS idea is for a B2B audience? What would be the best way to decide on and reach a target audience that would mainly include corporations as well as the government?
Great content Simon, really helping me out.
glad i found you before starting ❤
This is gold. So apt. Thank you.
hey simon hoiberg i have been watching your videos lately and i am so impressed with your content but yk for someone like us (beginner) want to know how exactly the saas works and do things how the buttons operate how the people are gonna use it etc etc these are some doubts i am having lately can you please guide ?
and yep your content is best appreciated
Yes, you can set a total budget for your campaign, that is very much possible 😊
Simon, love your videos! Are really great and great productions!
One question: The voice of the video, it's your voice or it's an AI voice over?
If it's an AI voice over, it's super great !
No, not an AI voice over at all 😄
The only part where I used AI is towards the end in the "living room" scene. My living room has a ton of reverb, so I used Adobe's Podcast software to enhance it - and it did come off a little "AI-ish" to be fair 😊
@@SimonHoiberg ohh! Haha Ok! But great quality videos! Also, I am a lifetime member of Feedhive, great software and UI ! 👌👌 Keep that way!
Thanks for the forecast! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Great content as usual
I'm happy you got value from it 🙌
Hello, amazing video! I was wondering where you can get that 3D robot image that u used. I have an idea with chat and flowbots, and would love to use that robot too. Thanks in advance
This content is gold, thank you so much.
Love it. But are you buying the domain name up front? I don't want to own 50 domain names lol
why not, if you are in the UK (though I suspect their offer is valid elsewhere) you could use IONOS and get a free domain name with a professional Webmail account with them (really cheap - Oct 2024).
This is the video i needed! I have been using WebFlow is this still the tool "to do it" or?
Great video! I really liked the ideas and tools shown
That's awesome 💪
I have been guilty of not validating. Will follow your process now. Thank you.
Awesome! Let me know how it works out 🙌
Great video! We need more like these!
Glad you liked it 💪
Really cool. If you had decided to move forward with the idea, what would you tell the people who signed up? It’ll take some time to build out the product so how do you keep the people who were interested engaged?
I would start writing email updates to them with progress of the tool, and invite them to a closed group (Facebook group, Discord group, etc) 😊
