John Deere X590 Garden Tractor | Clearing out Weed Hill

- Clearing out the part of our backyard with just weeds using the John Deere X590 tractor. We have tried to grow grass in this area in the past but since the the slope is north facing and a big tree shades the area, there is barely any direct sunlight and grass can't get a foothold against the weeds. This hill is very steep with a measured slope angle of 25º at the steepest part (46% gradient), so I have to wait for at least a week straight of no rain before going down there because I've had a few sketchy moments with the tractor when it was muddy. The tractor manual says maximum slope of 15º for safety. 😅😅😅
I also do not want to use non-selective herbicides because I still want vegetation there, otherwise, erosion is likely going to be a problem in the future if I constantly nuke the vegetation. I have resigned to the idea of just maintaining the trim to this area every month or so. The other side of the ditch with the tall vegetation, where I can't get the tractor to, hasn't been trimmed in 4 months. - Ігри
I bought a 590 this summer. I love the power steering. Also i like the differential lock because i kept getting my other mower stuck in a ditch in front of my house.
Honestly for me, the power steering was the biggest surprise of this tractor. The power steering was not a big consideration when researching the tractor, but now that I've used it for a couple of full seasons now, it is one of my favorite features of this tractor!

Thank you. Yes, this area of our property is the main reason I decided to get the X590 over the other models without the differential lock. In the video, the ground was completely dry, and yet, I still had to use the differential lock multiple times.
What width deck do you have and at what height were you cutting at? I just purchased a new x590. Thanks for the video.
The deck width on mine is 48" and I'm cutting at a height of 4 inches which I believe is the highest setting on the mower. Thank you for watching!
I'm 'in the market' for an X-590 later this year and when I do B U Y one, it'll have the 48" deck for sure. I'm reading about too many problems keeping the 54" deck level. @@francisfaustino
Do you have to use the differential lock on the hill?
Yes, if you watch closely, there are at least a few times the tires briefly starts slipping until I stepped on the diff lock. Those moments seemed uneventful which is why I love the diff lock! Without it, those moments would have been such a pain and hassle to get out of everytime it happened.
