Spot on. This one floored me. Cool note: The cover features a piano outdoors covered in snow... with some sheet music titled "Fool's Overture"... the actual sheet music is for the Star Spangled Banner. (perfect for today's bullshit Trump administration)
I do remember when it came out and I wondered who the British guy talking in it was. It turned out to be Winston Churchill and this piece inspired me to learn about him. Since then I've read many books on his life and career.
You hit on a huge thing, Tre, when you said “I wish I could have heard this right when it came out!, you guys got to do that“. Exactly. Just like you wait for your favorite hip-hop artists to release new material and are really excited when it finally does drop that’s of course what we went through too. Usually at least one year between albums of our favorite bands. No singles in between. And so when it finally arrived we would first go to a record store and buy it and then listen to each song really carefully and with high hopes, just as you do today with your favorite artists. So with our requests you’re getting the songs we waited for that we ended up liking the most. Lots of waiting in these requests! :-)
In concert they included the atomic bomb effect that ended WWII. This song was so powerful in its day that on TV, Canada's equivalent of "60 Minutes" -- called "W-5", used the main instrumental section as its theme music. I remember the night that the show did an episode about Supertramp, including interviews. The band was thrilled to learn about the important use of their great masterpiece.
A good stereo, playing loud, lying on my bed in a dark room, and focusing on the utter genius of this masterpiece was my drug of youth. It still makes me tear up. Thank you Roger Hodgson.
Not sure how much of the rest of this album you’ve done. I think it can be argued it’s their best. Certainly I think this is where the band peaked, even if it’s not the case that this is better than Crime of the Century.
Have to ever reacted to ‘Stop’ by Sam Brown? I don’t remember ever seeing one. Well I would strongly advise it. It’s a Wigremoverplaylistessentialmuvafudgersoulstirrerballjiggler.

All politicians are a SCAM
Thanks for doing this one. It’s a crime of the century that Supertramp gets completely overlooked when great prog rock groups are talked about. 🔥
Bloody Well Right

Always found the inclusion of the British hymn Jerusalem to be very poignant.
Masterpiece bro ☝️
Glad you liked it Sir

Wow about the atomic bomb.. I've been obsessed about that for years
Quite the composer, that Roger Hodgson. Shout out to Rick Davies, though, for Crime Of The Century. Still, my favorite reaction of yours.

It's not just music, it's an entire soundscape... such an amazing album.
Shout out to Winston Churchill.
I have just recently acquired a commerative coin with a pic of Churchill and his famous quote 'we shall never surrender'...
There are people, let's call them "purists" , who still deny that Supertramp were prog. Smh.

Possibly my favourite track ever.
I've been waiting a long time for your reaction to this. Imho this is impeccable.
And yet they are not in the hall of fame. Travesty.
is this a re-visit? could of sworn u did this song on your previous channel i could be wrong though , but i love this tune and supertramp
DAN C Yeah, it is. I requested it on the last channel. Better reaction this time. :-)
Yes, he did on the old channel. But he just wants to hear it again, which usually happens when you listen to Supertramp.
yeah more prog rock
This and Night at the opera !
Get the blu-ray concert video Live in Paris. It....is....AWESOME!! They were at the top of their game. Not that costly on Amazon!

I think Roger had 3 pieces of music he didn't know how to develop. He put them together in this
. (Don't know if its totally true, but could be) ;-)
Feel in love with Supertramp in my early teens. They’d only been out a few years. Adored them!
TRE....I bert you'd be a good music producer
There could easily be an orchestral version
Go to Roger Hodgson's channel, there's a version with an orchestra.
