HELP!!! when i loop with this pedal, the backing track i had just looped (rec) pauses when i solo to it. so say if i play some power chords and i solo to it. all the notes i hit makes the backing track chords mute. and if i turn up the backing track i cant hear my solos. this is disappointing :{ if theres a way to help me of fix the problem the tell me plz!!(tell me if theres anything i have to do with my amp too!)
Is the Hardwire line of effects pedals developed by DigiTech too? I checked DigiTech's website and found that their X-Series pedals are still up. I currently own an X-Series DigiDelay and plan to buy a Main Squeeze and Metal Master but our local distributor here in the Philippines says that they no longer have them and they only have Hardwire. Hardwire currently has no sustainer/compressor pedals on their catalog, which is a bummer.
Ultimately chose the DL-8 because to my ear it has better sound quality than the DD-7 and true bypass. Not a fan of Boss pedals and their buffer bypass.
I got this pedal today, but it didn´t work right! I was dying of sadnees, I went to a friend's house to check what was going on and his fucking dog bite my face!! I returned to my house sad cuz he didnt find anything wrong and marks of dog's theets on my cheek. so I realized this pedal was death, and I test it one last time... I saw the voltage of my AC/DC adapter (I own universal adapter) and changed the voltage to 7.5V and it works!! idk why in 7.5V, the normal voltage is 9! but IDGAF yeii!
the DD-7 was my choice personally because you can get the external expression pedal for it, you can double all the delays in each setting by using output B which makes getting the right time easier, you can have the tap tempo built-in or external, you can mix your reverse delays with your dry signal and you get 40secs looping time, the only thing you can't do is turn off the trails
Hi PGS People! just a question: is it possible to use the delay effect and the looper function at the same time? by example... if I'd want to loop a certain riff with delay on it! or even beyond... if I want to loop that delay riff, and after that, turn off the delay efect for soloing over the looped riff with delay! are this things possible on this pedal? thanx :)
yeah dude me too..i also want them all...AHAHHAHA.. aside from sounding good..its a true bypass..i already got tube overdrive and chorus..this is the next...PGS thanks for the review..
This delay is really nice. I love mine it is very WARM! Sounds great into the front of an amp. I was concerned as I don't have an effects loop and generally digital delays perform best in the loop. This thing sound great no matter where I set it! I am quickly loving these pedals! I have the OD, tuner and delay, now on to the chorus!! :) Nice job Andy!
You should try playing with a clean signal with your amp up without the crybaby, then try it with the crybaby. I can tell the difference. You can mod the crybaby to be true bypass, and change the tone to be more vocal and expressive. I highly recommend it. Msg me for details, if you're interested.
@robwestattevo not really i went through two of them and so has another guy i know the switch peters out of them very early..but good thing the warranty works well but be pre warned aggressive use causes this...but the pedal is one of the best sound wise!!
@glassbottleblues amp head is like a mini amp with knobs and switches, that you can plug into a speaker (PA=power amplifier), this way you can have a marshall amp that is plugged into a variable size of speakers, like a tiny speaker or a massive speaker
Can we please have stereo pedals at least partly demo'd in stereo mode. To answer rayzguitar, when my stereo pedals are on bypass the dry signal still comes out both amps but, unless you have amp tones etc set up differently, you effectively get a mono signal, not the depth of sound that comes from 'true' stereo.
does anyone knows if i use it for delay effect does the dry signal still the "true bypass" one?? or does the dry signal go through the A-D/D-A conversion? :S another thing i need to know: if I record a loop session and turn it off, play something, can I turn the loop session on again?
I have a question. When you push the repeat knob all the way up, does the repeats go to infinity? ;) and can you play with their time like in boss pedals? I can see that the guy on the video is doing it, but it's a short time and we don't know what's going to happen with volume
@kwijboymtl Yup. I own this pedal, pretty much keep it in analog mode, and I like it a lot. I will say though, not great to play live. Dicking around with at home, it's pretty sweet, especially for a guy like me who doesn't have much experience with delay.
I find most of the features on these delay pedals to be worthless. I do have a digidelay if i need some delay though. Not my favorite pedal by far. Memoryman deluxe gets my vote.
@ProGuitarShopDemos I always found that the delay in the front sounded bad in general so I run it through the loop. So could you tell me about running it in the front and making it sound better
you have to push the two "footswitch release pins" (check the manual to see what they are), with the tip of a jack (or a screwdriver), and the top part of the pedal (the part you stomp on) will come off, and you can change the battery. You can see details in the manual at page 17.
Just Got this for my Birthday at the weekend and found this demo very helpful i like to read learn and then play so as to Get the device to do what i need it to do so it was great tosee all its features used Thanks
@papadimitriouapostol You can probably try getting an AC power supply for it. Check to see what the compatible amps/volts for the pedal are, then go find a power supply with those specs.
Since this has 2 inputs/outputs, could you use it in conjunction with something like a Boss line selector to get delay in both of its effects loops? Ie: loopA send>harmonizer>DL8 input 1>loop A return loopB send>modulation>DL8 input 2>loopB return I think it could work?
I have a carbon copy and although I love it - it can't really handle too many repeats without oscillating...definitely gonna get this for more digi-delay sounds and that looper feature is especially nice to have! I guess it's this or the Akai Headrush in my mind...
Damn, I am so tempted to buy one right now. Maybe it's the wine, but this seems like such an awesome pedal. I've had a ton of multieffect machines, but all I ever really need is delay. It's just endless fun. Add the looper and this becomes great value for the second hand price of roughly 100€.
@martyfriedman666 I was wondering something similar when I bought this pedal a while back but the Digitech pedal has more options so I went with it. I think the analog on here is really nice, but I tend to go with the lo-fi more often as it turns out.
Newbie here, Can you plug this into a distortion pedal, then into the amp and guitar and play away? Or do you need some crazy things like an amp header etc?
BOSS RC-2 or RC-20 loop station (up to 16 minutes), Digitech Jam Man (dunno how long you can loop). Most of these feature rhythm tracks as well. Hope that helps.

i recon its cool n all clarity wise but me personally, and probably others,i think that the analogue pedals add a bit more character
Dude i really cant tell the difference. I have a boss SD-1, dunlop crybaby and their not true bypass, should i hear a difference???
Ultimately chose the DL-8 because to my ear it has better sound quality than the DD-7 and true bypass. Not a fan of Boss pedals and their buffer bypass.

Okay, I've gotta buy this delay, not the dd7 or the flashback... The reverse mod sounds like John Frusciante!
I liked when he played the Pixies with the looper.
I've owned this pedal for nearly a year and it's awesome! It's basically a better built and better quality Boss DD-7
@MattCM89 make sure you put your distortion before the delay. Otherwise you end up distorting the delay signal
'Im playing through a G&L classic & 65 amp Soho' Immortal Words.
its actually really cheap, for a looper/delay, its 133.25 (without the power supply)
I have this pedal and yes, if you have the repeat knob all the way up it goes to infinity, swells up and feedbacks.

my DL-8 is already turning 1 year on feb 2012, but i still love this video! this got me sold and satisfied :) perfect delay for my needs :)
I read the manual and it said that if you turn the delay time to maximum, it acts as an infinite sustain pedal? Can anyone who's got one confirm this?
This delay is really nice. I love mine it is very WARM! Sounds great into the front of an amp. I was concerned as I don't have an effects loop and generally digital delays perform best in the loop. This thing sound great no matter where I set it! I am quickly loving these pedals! I have the OD, tuner and delay, now on to the chorus!! :) Nice job Andy!
Uhm, I'm new to loopers. But does it hold 20 seconds of looping overall, or 20 seconds for each overdub.?

How it the top end on this pedal? Will it cut off the top end "sizzle" of sounds if I run an analog synth through it?
The DD-7 is not true Bypass. And the effects don't not sound nearly as nice. Sorry Boss, but your overrated pedal line is on the way out.
Is good, but the pedal what your need is the that go with your sound stile and sound how your want :D
Could I plug a microphone into this?
You can keep going and going, its about 2 hours of looping
actaully its more expensive than boss because they have a true bypass
@Whisp201 G&L is Leo Fender's company. i dont think his a hobo
so you haven't seen any of the wah videos or the whammy video.
First PGS video i saw
so it's a delay a looper and a chorus pedal all in one??
Help guys. This or the TC Electronics Nova Delay.
Better buy two.
You always have the best reviews. My Boss DD_3 is clipping in the FX loop of my Engl Fireball. I think I'll go and try one of these out. 5 Stars.
@robwestattevo not really i went through two of them and so has another guy i know the switch peters out of them very early..but good thing the warranty works well but be pre warned aggressive use causes this...but the pedal is one of the best sound wise!!
love the pink floyd nod at the end

Boss RE-20 doesnt take tone away from my amp! ECHo"s and Delay"s are Precise!
Can the reverse delay be use with the original dry signal included like with the Boss DD-7? It would a real shame if it couldn't.
does anyone knows if i use it for delay effect does the dry signal still the "true bypass" one?? or does the dry signal go through the A-D/D-A conversion? :S

if it was a chorus it'd be a waste to bring out a Hardwire Chorus pedal..
haha.
Nah it's only a delay/looper
I find most of the features on these delay pedals to be worthless. I do have a digidelay if i need some delay though. Not my favorite pedal by far. Memoryman deluxe gets my vote.

keep it up andy, great job!! you are gonna make digitech rich with this great review, well at least ill buy the pedal... lol

just buy the Boss DD-7 its better and cheaper \m/
and it has 40 seconds looper and not 20
Peace ;D

how long will it take for the items to arrive in the philippines?I'll get this and 2 other pedals, pgs says its for free if it's 400 n up..
Hope that helps.
i dont think this pedal has that. i think the separate tap is unique to boss. which is a shame cuz this is also a great delay pedal
yeah, you should be able to tell for the crybaby. when mine gets bypassed, it emphasizes the mid-frequencies...i hate it. i'm going to mod mine.
You could play Napolean Bonaparte I & II by Budgie with this. It would be perfect for the echo part.
Can the looper do stutter effects like the DD6? Search for "boss dd6 hold function" first video to see what I mean.
I'm thinking of buying the BOSS DD-7 but this pedal looks to me much more useful, the delay feature is digital or analog?
finally people realize that other brands like mxr, ehx, and digitech, zoom, etc... KILL boss
What are the disadvantage of using this kind of pedals (hardwire) can somebody tell me?¿
SO how would this compare to their Digidelay? The Digidelay is pretty hissy and it's driving me nuts.
@nepalnt21
indeed, really metally, and not organic
im about to buy a delay pedal that have settings like this one, so whats the best DL-8,DD7, or something else??
You can layer it as many times as you want. I've read that the quality degrades after tom many layers are added.
can you have the dl8 looping a rhythm and use the same pedal for a solo tone over that rhythm?
Wow! this pedal is awesome! Is it just me though or is the volume cut on the playback?
no to loop you go to the last setting i just bought one two days ago and its the best pedal ive ever had
well can you use the delay the pedal gives you when you loop for like solos and stuff like that?
reverb is echo not delay
yeah it would work but u would only be able to get one delay setting for both modes if im not wrong
do you think that the frusciante (guess ur talking about falling) efffect is better on this than on dd-20
@manafest2010
for live! i chose this one though hehe. i think it has all i need
The reverser feature is so cool! It's like what the band Filter does in the song "Clouds" after the solo.
If i'm in the tap tempo mode...
How can i turn it off???
I have to hold it 2 sec again??
get a boss rc-2 or the next model, the rc-20. the new line 6 JM4 is also a good option.
this video made me BUY one...and proguitarshop rules too!! thanks guys...
What song is that that he plays on the looper @ 7:21-8:04? Sounds so familiar...
nvm i got it to work. you bhave to have the pedal first in line of ur effects lol :D
Does anyone know at 0:58-0:47 was that a volume swell with the delay or an automatic setting?
i know this has more functionality but would it be as good as an MXR carbon copy?
Is it possible to adjust the level of the effect when in mono mode too?
Dang, and I thought my DigiDelay was enough now DigiTech had to go one-up themselves.
@MrBavelaar go with this, its got delay and looping, (plus true hardwire bypass)
I don't think that you can use the actual delay feature during the looping, so no.
If I would have a chance to live in US
I would buy everything from you guys !!!
I really can't choose between this and the ehx stereo memory man hazarai delay, any suggestions?
some lush sounds there...
and nice shoe XD
dd7 has a 40 second looper, dl 8 has a 20 second looper
it's never cheaper because you need an external tapper to use tap tempo.
This is their "High End" line of pedals. They are nearly indestructible"
I really like that reverse sound gives it a really nice controlled feeling.
Can I run this into 2 amp's effects loops with the 2 inputs and outputs?
um, i think this means up to 20 seconds of a loop, repeated for infinity
the reversed sound seems like sooo much fun! I'd pretend time is rewinding XD
