    After all this work, would love to see him enjoying a big bowl of steamed rice at the end, maybe some wild leeks with it, a fish from that stream down over the bank. I suppose some soy sauce is too much to ask -- would need to be a few wild beans already growing to make the koji with, a natural salt lick nearby, etc. Would be nice...

    Bro, you have enlighten me didn't know how a seed bed was prepared for rice and will have several plants from that bed and will be able to plant several paddies with those mature plants from that small seed bed. I am impress how the water softens the soil to allow the pulling of the weeds from it with ease and the roots along with plant you know your stuff.

    Have no idea about growing rice, but i think it is crucial to have the water always flowing so its not like a pond and the water gets "bad" right? So wouldnt it be better to have the intakes alternating on the flied boders? Like the first one on the left side, the next on the right and so on to make sure a lot of the water gets renewed? at the moment i assume the water in the back of the field hardly ever gets mixed up.
