My Truck Got 4ft Longer In 1 Week!!!
Вставка

- 3 guys. 6 days. Over 150 man hours. And my truck got UPGRADED with an '06 International cutoff rear clip and an additional 50" more wheelbase. Why? Because or ride quality and cool factor. The original 8 bag suspension was nothing to write home about; plus this old work truck was in dire need of some help. It rides like dream now!
In this video I've documented all the steps we went through to make it happen. Is this the only way to a stretch & cutoff? Certainly not, there's more than 1 way to skin a cat; but it's how we do it and it works great. Comment below if you've got experience doing cutoffs and stretches. To interact with Flannel Philip head to Instagram @flannel_philip
The project is only 90% finished but it's back to work. Stay tuned for more videos on painting the frame, hubs, and the cool deck plate we're having made....

The truck looks awesome. Great video. Jesus is king. C’MON
Good call on not responding, nobody needs the aggravation .great work
Good job bro it was cool watching how that whole process went 👍🏽
"It is million ways to skin a cat"
Classic i love it man !!!!!!
So many people wanna say what is right what is worng well put my man....
Excellent workmanship
Good job. Glad you added the splice.
For lifting the sleeper you could just use a spreader bar - then you just pick straight up from the bottom of the sleeper and the spreader bar takes the crush at the top... and you can use the spreader bar for picking anything else that is about as wide as your truck
Hey, looks good. The only thing id have done different would have been to use c channel for the insert. But, ya kinda cant with different frame heights.
Anyway it works and thats all that matters.
Good luck with the kenneynational interworth. 😁
what you said would be the only suggestion i could have made but still a great build
Straight cuts are ok if welded with the proper procedures and a frame section over or inside as long as possible to stiffen that frame that job would not pass in most places welding has to have full penetration and peened and I would have never used wire feed unless it's a flux core wire that has been tested on this type of frame material. Stick welding is a proven method must be back gouged usually I weld the inside first so I can grind out any slag and crap lot easier to work on the outside of the frame then fill and cap it just like I would do a pipe weld except I would air peen the welds to stress relieve it. I
Bridges are joined at straight cuts. They used an industry standard procedure. It’ll be fine.
@@dustinmeier9753 Frames are heat-treated, high-strength steel, and most frame repair procedures (all that I have seen) specifically require 110ksi low-hydrogen rod. One could potentially convince an engineer to approve E111T1 dual shield. Welding inherently screws up the heat treatment of the frame. Peening the weld between passes, as stated above, stress relieves the steel and makes it less likely to crack, which is a big issue with welded frames. Using a lower tensile strength welding alloy would likely be considered an unacceptable practice in many areas. The normal welding alloys we use have 40% less strength than what is called for in this case. All it would take is one DOT officer having a bad day and this truck would be towed and permanently OOS until engineering drawings and x-ray inspection of the weld would be provided to prove that it was done safely, or it is cut again, properly re-welded, and inspected.
@paulkushnir2224 clearly knows what he is talking about and is describing the right way, as per manufacturer procedures, to do this. And that is what is important to the DOT.
Glad you showed it before the deck plate is on so we can actually see what was done
Beautiful job man. Wheelbase looks proper. Not too long and not too short. That frame was in great shape for a donor.
I would of love to see the finished work up close actually see how it looked when it was all done before tanks went back on
Would have*
Awesome build, great craftsmanship 💪🏽
Dang that guy uses that plasma cutter like a scalpel and him a surgeon very cool...
As a kid I always have loved K-WHOPPER s, Nice w900l ... Nice little stretch.. Like you said there's more than one way to skin a cat .
Looks Sweet to me!!! Your truck Your way!!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving and be safe out there Brother Peace!!
I would’ve done it the same exact way you did excellent job
I'm a company driver of a local construction outfit, I drive end dump & lowboy. The end dump tractor was on its last leg so they got rid of it & got a newer tractor with a strong 2& half foot more wheelbase , that made a difference in the ride .
I remember when we did that to my dad's 71 a model man that looks sharp livin large now
Thanks for the video! Philippians 2...one of the greatest passages in the New Testament. I liked the video, too. The splices on that original frame looked like the work of Pakistani Truck on YT...
Your work is off the chart outstanding thank you for the viedo blessings to you and your family and business One Stop Tommy
Nicely done, hard work paying off
Looks Great and thanks for sharing!!! God Bless!!! I love the Peace and Grease!!! Blessings and be safe!!!
Love your attitude...
✌😎
Cool cool cool truck...
appreciate it looks awesome fixing to do a cabover this year helped with the planning for it
I’ve seen both ways done on stretches. Both worked. Truck looks much better
Great work Mate..!! love the look now, just the right amount of frame... and awesome to get rid of those previous two nasty cut and shut jobs that you discovered in the old frame... that was problem waiting to happen... can not wait to see the other 10% of the build... keep em coming... cheers cheers.
Had it all apart they should of done a air ride swap on the cab and sleeper
Looks awesome
Welders do not make ( Z ) cuts or 45 degree cuts in structural steel buildings . If welding an inside liner plate to the channel of the frame rail , only horizontal welds . Use flange bolts and flange nuts . Good Job !
As long as you double plate the frame at the desired splice with a 3 foot and a 2 foot and your done !
Looks nice. The cut was done the same way I've done mine. Running over the road with no issues at all. Thought the frame and suspension was Freightliner. Looks like an Airliner to me. But i might be wrong. Great video!
International used hendrickson suspension on that style. But it does look almost identical to airliner except airliner Frame mount brackets are solid and made of cast aluminum
QUEDO BIEN CHINGON EL TROKE, SALUDOS DE PARTE DEL 15 TRUCKING DESDE CULIACAN, SINALOA.
Love to see guys like u get it done and do it cause u like it
Awesome job on the frame strech
I've seen better, and legal too.
Personally I'd do a straight cut with a Sawzall.. slap some jb weld on the straight cut joined ends and call it a day.
Fantastic job sir. Glad I found this channel.
I agree with the scarf cut approach, that’s how I do it, and I also stagger the splice when I can, and the scarf doesn’t necessarily have to be 45°, 30° is plenty, Bolting the fish plate is a good idea if you plan on messing with the frame again , my 2 cents
I had a71 w9 replaced rear clip with international four spring Corp suspension off a transfer it matched up newer trucks are metric thus your different size 13mm nice job though and fast turnaround good luck
Well for what its worth and thats not much, theres a fella in Australia I know that does chassis stretches every day of the week and plenty of weekend warriors have plenty of opinions
They way the do every single one of theirs is a straight cut like yours, this is done because it gives least amount of heat in the rails when welding back up, this means less chance of weakening
Every stretch is engineered and fully approved
The only thing that would be frowned upon and it is very very minor is in Australia we need to cut blocks of wood that fit snuggly in between the flanges of the rails at the U bolts so flanges cant be squashed when doing up the U bolts
Great video channel, love your stuff
This episode is like Roadkill for manly rigs.
Good job for a crew of younger guys, but don’t ever shy away from constructive criticism from the right people, not that you tube is the place for it, so I won’t go there? But as a semi retired welder fabricator I can say I’ve learned a lot, some from engineers but mostly from old welders with gray hair, when I was young I use to joke about it, if you didn’t have gray hair I wouldn’t listen to you Lol but all joking a side not all old guys know it all but if you know how to pick and choose what you hear you will be ahead of the game, there’s nothing like experience.
Looking good. Nice job
Add a second pulley to your “A” frame. Or in a pinch you can use a ratchet chain binder on one side to lift the sleeper.
Great job. Cheers 🍻
Truck looks cool. I Love it.
Quedó espectacular 👌 👏 👏 👏 ,felicitaciones, saludos desde sudamerica Chile 🇨🇱
Outstanding! Beautiful machine!
frame extension turned out nice, truck is lookin awesome.
The splice you do is a really strong one I'd do similar but with a cross beam between the inner sides of the frame rails for added strength
I just used jb weld and sit sleeper on empty beer bottles
If it were my project I would also do it 'to each ur own' so go ahead 'do that damn thing bra'. Looks great!
I have done it just the way you have.
I do some welding myself and it all depends on how the structure is being used
One of the best videos yet, well made
Looks good, but I’m sure glad you’ve put your shirt back on ‼️
Good job bud very nice
Wow, The only thing I've ever stretched was my belt. tHanks for the video!
Beautiful job my man.......
Only thing in my concern is metallurgy when you cut a frame in the middle it definitely if you don't get the wells penetrated correctly can lead for failure careful
Excellent job
We used kw frame to kw frame when we stretched our K100 from 220 wb to 350 to turn her into a 3 axel drive.
Great job and a very big job at that. Hi kids 🖐🏻
Very nice job I had four feet added to my Peterbilt 362 Cabover I like your watermelon lights under the cab and in the sleeper I'm definitely gonna copy that
What is your decision is what you feel and don’t worry about others cause you live what you want and that how you should live aloha
Truck looks amazing good job 👍👍
Awesome job very similar to the way I built mine.. we are still waiting for ya down here I. Wisconsin to come pin stripe some trucks hahaha
Nice stretch! It looks great.
Hi mate good work I like the way you do your work and I like your comments keep up the good work
nice job and nothing wrong with a straight cut frame
A lot wrong with it... primarily cracking. L cuts are the way to go.
@@TheRoadhammer379 respectfully disagree
Awesome!!!!! Looking good......
Steel a nice truck
Now you goo says is to bigger to parking to turn 😂😂😂❤ look nices now.
Love you truck brother love your videos keep them coming I'll keep watching LOL merry Christmas to you and your family God bless you.
Nice job, works for me 🎉
A non tipping 5th wheel for tanks and dumps is made by newholland known as an APGARH your local dealer has never heard of it you will have contact the factory is APGARH trucking in PA.
hello kiddos..tell your dad that the video was good..awesome job..
I just found your channel. Love the truck. Nice work, beautiful shop!! !!!!!
Angle cut frame , angle cut is approx 15" long straight cut is 10" long way more strength in angle cut.then add 3' sleeve with ends angle cut .
WOW 😳 it changed the whole look!!! Came out mint dude!!!
ANGLE CUT only way to do IT
@@megastarx11, not necessarily. L cuts are way stronger, if you don't know what L cuts are, you have never stretched a semi frame
People talk about if the weld isn't worth a shit...would any way of doing not be shitty if the welds were shit? If a welder has to prove their weld is stronger than the surrounding metal and isn't the weak point to be certified...Why would it matter about the angle and such? If it's reinforced and works..it works..Show me the physics and I'll agree after press testing the theory..because that's what it is until proven or disproven..
Do the science
Nice job brother
clean job bro
I’m sure I’m not the first one to suggest this and it’s too late now but was curious why you didn’t run the new frame as a liner inside of the old frame? Just curious I think it looks beautiful and I love your truck
They are the same width. You couldn't slip one inside the other.
@@threynolds2
NO, the original one was quite taller then the new one with the rears attached
@@scottreed5460 yes, it was taller by a half an inch. But the side to side width was the same.
@@threynolds2
Ok gotcha, I mean it came out great was just wondering
Great job brother
Great job!
nice truck man
We got living trucks now? Oh shit transformers!!
Like the truck.. look beautiful 😍
Great Job !! Working trucks rule!!!
Great job
Good job. Nice truck
Nice truck ,I'm guessing at a 😺 for power ,I like ,o btw you do you brother hold your ground, ✌️
Very cool 😎 nice work
Keep the Red Top 525 do not replace the engine with an International MaxForce engine 😂! 8 air spring suspension really was never much to brag about to begin with !
Looks great
Nice job! You don't polish the inside of the duals? Your kids do a great job putting everything together on your video!
SICK RIG!
looks sweet. only complaint i have on our 86 w900 with the 8 bag is you're always leaning one way or the other especially hauling hay. the 8 bag rides awesome though, way softer than the air leaf on our 379. good work guys!
Install double leveling valves , one on left & one on right it will cure your leaning problem!@.💥💨
I stretched my 89 Peterbilt 379 out to 270 also. I mated it to a 2014 Peterbilt 589 frame. My Tractor frame was larger as well.
I helped my buddy strech the frame on a freightliner he was hauling a frameless end dump like you have andstarted pulling a tri-axle 39 ft east trl with 96 in deep. We took a double frame cut off we slid the inner frame up to the back of the sleeper then angle cut the back to weld up the rest of the double frame. Went from air ride 40,000 to short spring Hendrickson 52,000 lbs
Dunno. My Kenworths both say No Weld on the frame rails as they are heat treated. Hate to see this break in half going down the highway. There are channel inserts to double frame the joint but you are joining frames of different sizes. Also, on my fuel tanks, I removed them and welded in thick aluminum strapping to prevent porosity from road de-icers. The straps were installed where the hangers contact the tanks. And, that sleeper sucks.
I gave you a like because its a Kenworth.
I think most frames/manufacturers say that, yet people do it millions of times a year with no issues. Now if you're an extreme oversize hauler, maybe not a good idea liabilitywise
we stretched my shaker 47". took me 10 day s to stretch and add a lift axle.
I would have just cut a 2x8 and put it on top of sleeper as a spreader, straps wont pinch sleeper. Been cuting and splicing trucks myself for over 40 years, good job! On your next one see if you can get some tandems with disc brakes.
