Custom Deckplate + I Painted My Frame w/ A Brush?!?

  • A 5 year vision finally becomes reality!! I have always loved the look of red frame & hubs on a black truck. It’s just so hot rod & definitely suits my style.
In this episode we begin with filling in the holes of the frame after the stretch was completed. You can find that episode here: • My Truck Got 4ft Longe...
I decided to paint the frame BY HAND with brushes & rollers using Rustoleum gloss black. I can control the thickness much better that way.
Part 2 we get the custom deck plate back from the fab shop, powder coated red. Installation includes keeping plumbing & wiring hidden for a clean look wherever possible.
A huge thank you to Will Sanson of Sanson Enterprises in Dodge Center, MN for his outstanding work on the deck plate. I'm impressed with everything they've helped us build including all the stainless panels on my sleeper.

You did a really good job using a roller and brushes. I really like where you're going with this, you have some rather unique ideas. That red deck plating really sets the whole thing off and the stainless steel on the back of the sleeper, awesome.

Love the deck plate. Keep the videos coming. On the top of them what about some skateboard grip tape to walk on? Get it in an accent color to the red and black, gives you some grip for those Minnesota winters.

You remind me a little bit of my fleet manager and end dump lead. The former will do anything to keep the show going for my trucking company. He's been trucking for a little over thirty years. The latter will do the same and is a clean freak (which is a good thing) with nigh on forty years under his belt.
They're both old school truckers. My other younger drivers look up to them. Well, down to my fleet manager as he's so short. Every now and then we'll crack the old phone book or wooden blocks on the pedals joke. He never gets tired of that. Haha
I will definitely be sad when they retire around five years from now...

Truck is looking real good. Can't wait for the pin stripes. My first truck was a 9700 painted black with red and silver pin stripes....real pin stripes. I totalled it 10 months after I've bought it and never could get someone here in South Africa to do pinstripes.

I love the backplate ,,, the penstriping will add more charichtor to it... I also like the panels on the sleeper as the look like the old school ' mercury ' ....
And the 60 something Blue Chevy stepside , with a LS motor lots of horses under the hood.I had a 64 3/4 ton with a 327 big jernial change with a 4inch high rise intake & headers ... I got good millage as long as I kept my foot out of it , it had the factory 4 speed on the floor, 1st gear was grany .
