I'm a kids' music teacher and it's really sad to see what's popular. When I was in college, my first year music theory teacher put a chart on the board of complicated to simple compositions and the corresponding chart showing the $$$ increasing the simpler it got :-(

Tommy Emmanuel and Richard Smith is the only player that can held the torch that Chet Atkins ignite back then, hopefully new generation with the same taste of music the one that can reach people for one end to the other end of world appear out of nowhere and keep the flame burning or even ignite a bigger torch! so please whoever play this travis picking style keep on playing never give up, you never know we all are part of this flame we need to keep our spirit up and spread the word this music style! For Godsake alot of people in my country don't even know who Tommy Emmanuel is!
