  • Carrying a sketchbook gives you the chance to draw people and environments from unexpected angles, in lifelike poses.
    Life drawing with a model is great! But can sometimes feel more rigid than drawing in public.

    That actually makes a lot of sense because photoshoots and people serving as muses have to stand in one pose, so their muscles are naturally tense so they don't deviate from it.

      try a fountain pen, you can switch from black to blue , thick to thin by pressure, and the tip has a nice scratchy feeling.

      they 100% went through the art level you are right now. Its like seeing a professor and being discouraged because they know more than you. Art is literally like a game, where you complete each level (eg. learning basic perspective once, stumbling upon it again later and enhancing what u learnt etc) and gain experience, thus becoming slowly better. It just needs patience and perseverance

    It is difficult to make drawings from life without knowing enough about anatomy because they are not still like internet references and often there is a short time to capture the pose. Since you have to complete the rest mentally, you should already be knowledgeable.

    • @iHeartAMP
      @iHeartAMP 3 місяці тому +48

      That's why it is so useful. I been doing it lately, you have to sketch out a "snapshot" of the pose you want and then keep building and adding the details from the subject. Even if the subject keeps moving. Really hard. But useful at the very end. People will get creeped out though LoL, they can tell when you stare too long

    When I was in artschool this was something I brought up many times, all the poses we got when drawing a model was statue-like, I wanted poses of work, action and tool usage.
    Sidenote: drawing from imagination doesn't necessarily mean you put both feet on the ground, made a drawing the other day of a guy balancing on his chin and "standing" with both his feet on his own head, looking incredibly focused and with his arms out & palms down to keep balance.... ontop of a bottle...

    Are some of those drawn with a blue pen? Or it’s the lighting that makes it seem blue? Or is it a blue pencil? The lines seem like ones made with a pencil! I am asking because if it is a pen, that’s is unbelievably remarkable! Simply put, you can erase a mistake made with a pencil, but if you use a pen you have to be as accurate as can be! And aside from that, the lines mostly turn out bold and not as soft as a pencil. Of course, product matters and there are erasers for pens now, but they are only for pens of certain brands and often they are for pens of the same brand as the eraser. Regardless, drawing with a pen is very difficult! What he’s made is truly admirable!
