I would splash the broth in the tomato jar, shake/swirl to get all that tomato out! I love the woodstove cooking, I feel like if it's not a conventional stove or grill, lots of people don't try. But it's such a good skill!
This is exactly the comment I was going to make. Who needs a spatula when you have liquid ingrediminks to do the cleaning for you... and then add right into your pot? Well, maybe she'll use this tip in the future. Hopefully, so, anyway.
Thanks so much for your videos. I though I was the only one who enjoyed admiring my shelve of home canned food. 😅 I really appreciate your printable recipes. Thanks for sharing.
I'm going to plant both san marzano and Amish paste this year...see what I like better. I'm excited to explore different varieties...I usually only plant big boy or early girl, but definitely going to expand this year!
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have never made homemade tomato soup, but I have wanted to do so using the tomato sauce I canned. I will definitely be giving this a try.
Hi Melissa, just found your channel. Love it. In terms of tomato varieties, I've tried many over the last 30 years including San Marzano and Opalka. My favorite has become "Health Kick Hybrid". You can find seeds anywhere now. It's stable, consistent, and cans well for a great Lasagna for the holidays. Give it consideration for Garden 2022.
I’m planning 3 different paste tomatoes this year: San Marzano, Amish Paste, and Pink Fang. I’m hoping this strategy will enable me to get a good yield and a flavorful sauce as well 🤞🏼
I am excited to try this recipe. However, all of my home canned tomato sauce is sour. I did some research and sounds like they are “flat sour”. Im not sure how or why but had to stick with store canned because it’s that bad!
Do you can your tomato sauce without seasoning? I have been canning mine with none - not even salt (although I do add citric acid) - so I can use it however I like. I also can plain crushed tomatoes, which can add an additional "fresh" note. We also freeze dried tomato wedges and powder (the powder is CRAZY hygroscopic LOL), which I need to do many experiments with ;-)
I’ve grown both those tomatoes and I do not have really good luck with San Marzano’s here in SC. Don’t really know why , maybe it’s the hot summers and intense humidity that we get in the summer months .
Hi there! I have a canning question. I Had a few quart jars that I can't last night I was interviewed and when I pulled them out of the camera they didn't seem to have a good seal and the lids were popped but when I set them down on the counter about 5 minutes later they were sealed are they good or it or should I use them 1st and not store them
I think auto correct got you but jars don't usually seal fully until they exit the canner and begin to cool down. That's why we don't move/touch them for at least 12 hours after canning.
O my goodness so sorry haha I didn't look before I sent it. Thank you. Yes. I haven't had that happen to me yet. Usually I pull them out and they already look sealed but this time they didn't. Thank you for your response 🙏
I think the How to Pressure Can Series website is broken, even after putting in my contact info I can only access the first video and have not received any emails. I was really looking forward to it! :(
If you’ve followed her channel for any amount of time you’d know she has other videos on how to process tomatoes and can tomato sauce. She said right at the beginning that this video was about how to use the food you’ve already canned.
@Adventure Alley Both how to make and can tomato sauce and broth are on my channel and linked to under the video, not sure how to make that anymore plain, I even said it in the video

Never thought of using broth but that makes sense for added flavor. Have to give this a go instead of using milk 🥛. Mouth watering 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Ooh this is so easy, what a great way to turn tomato sauce into a brand new meal. Thank you for sharing!!
Great video. Love the trick of opening the jars that way.
How easy and wonderful! Thank you for sharing! 😋
Thanks so much for this simple recipe! I've got the stuff, but haven't made tomato soup and have been wanting to.
I'm going to plant both san marzano and Amish paste this year...see what I like better. I'm excited to explore different varieties...I usually only plant big boy or early girl, but definitely going to expand this year!
I also wonder which is better Amish paste or San Marzano. Post your decision please

Once I get my pressure canner I'm making your bone broth. So excited. I asked for the bones when we got our steer so I can do that this year!
I loveeeee a good tomato soup! Pair it with a grilled cheese sammich and it’s over ♥️
Awesome video as always..❤️

Love tomato soup! I don't ever get a chance to make tomato sauce.....my husband is Italian....he takes making sauce seriously 😁
We still buy condensed canned tomato soup, but we always add milk instead of water when we make it! Tastes so much creamier

Thx for this! I have tons of tomato sauce and jars of broth. Well he having this for dinner soon. I think I will add basil.
You should pour the broth into the sauce jar and swirl it around, or put the lid back on and shake it to "rince" it out. Then pour it into your pot.😀
Melissa, you referenced a video with tips for starting tomatoes from seed (7:40'ish) , but your link is missing, but DEFINITELY wished for.

? Not sure your point here, that's not where I live and still doesn't change the fact we reached a historical high for where I live 🤷
Thanks.
Good stuff
Just FYI the link on your site for the pressure canning series leads to sourdough making.
Thank you! Will get that fixed
What is nutritional yeast, and benifits? I've only heard of yeast for breads etc,

Thank you for sharing!!I love cooking on my woodstove ....but I have splashed fat on it....do you have a secret to get the burnt on grease off?

Would this tomato soup work in your freeze dryer? I'd love to know how it turns out.

Do you ever get your hand whacked by the stove fan?
No I never have (and I'm a notorious klutz)
romas are notorious for getting BER

YHVH Bless
Just poor the broth in the jar, that was a real cliffhanger for me
That salt is mined in Utah… it’s good salt
Try making beef consommé from the broth and using that
Making homemade tomato soup: pour in the main ingredient I’m not going to show you how to make…then add flavor!
