Pretty much. This and promoting Linux (compare gaming on Linux in 2014 vs nowadays) is the reason why I'll buy games on steam instead of just pirating them. Wonderful mindset.

Valve is one of the last companies that actually wants to add value to their products instead of simply raising their profits. Their moral is, if they make products of value, people will buy them and stay in the long run. I think that's the most wonderful moral a company could ever have. If every company on this planet would act this way, the planet would be a vastly different one for sure.

Valve is just one of the most important pillars of this gaming industry
They're damn near the foundation at this point

You Valve fanboys are the worst lol
@@joed5150 yeah, we know
I love that they straight up said you can use any USB C hub, that’s so cool and really makes me wonder where they are going that they are this confident. Looking forward to more steam hardware
Well for non pc/hardware enthusiasts, you generally prefer buyin an accessory from the company who made the console. Not that we’d have better option in Europe (Jsaux doesnt ship here without huge shipping + tax)
Well, they’re confident because of the steam deck statistics they’ve compiled from all steam deck users. The narrator states that you need this dock to hold up your deck to watch/play porn hands free. He then goes on to state that if you don’t need it for this purpose, they’ve done a lot of work to make none-porn docks work with steam deck. They’ve checked the stats however and the percentage of those users is minuscule, which is why they are so confident
I got a cheap ali one... works great.
either they're really good quality for the price or it's a good all arounder
Valve’s ongoing support of this device and continued ability to actually listen to their fans is an example of how businesses should operate. Well done Valve!

This is absolutely awesome to see valve, hoping to get a steam deck in the next year or so as a laptop replacement, so the dock is a really good thing to see for that - really happy to see all the work you're putting into making this better and better. endlessly impressed :)
I got my Steam Deck two weeks ago, and I really couldn't be happier with it! Sure, there are little things to learn here and there, but it isn't simplified in every aspect, so there's a lot of potential to grow and use it in different ways. Good job on this entire project Valve. It's a winner. I love my deck! (And thank you for keeping the platform open to non-Steam games and apps!)
If a more powerful Steam Deck releases in the future (hopefully many years from now, too soon would be silly), I would gladly invest in it if I need the added power. For the moment, I can't see any games on the horizon that could make me feel that way, though. That's a good thing, Valve. It's incredible this chonky handheld can play Cyberpunk 2077, other high graphical requirement games, and basically any third-party emu (retro and newer, up to ps3). I think I heard that Microsoft also released software to give access to your Xbox library on the Steam Deck, too. Makes my head spin the support this thing is receiving.
Thank you for, as Nintendo did but better, showing the gaming industry how portable gaming is done.

Legal ramifications tho, you know Nintendo would’ve dragged their ass to court
@@cj-3810 Yeah, and they would've lost like Sony did back in the day. Emulators don't use any copyrighted material, there is nothing illegal about them.
If you want the real reason, is so Nintendo doesn't hate the hell out of Valve, in a effort to not ruin any partnership that could happen in the future if ever.
@@gfhhfgZ I understand that completely, I enjoy the very concept of emulation, it is very apparent that Valve has been and has shown how much they support emulation. It’s just stupid that people will make at a decision that, from a business perspective, is smart. Paying money to contest the lawsuit in the first place is already a net loss compared to just doing a minor change. It doesn’t mean Valve is going to remove emulation from the SteamDeck, nor does it mean they’re backing down from it. Why is this whole thing a big deal?
@@cj-3810 No one is talking about valve "removing emulation" or anything like it (Steam Deck is a PC after all, they can't remove anything you can obtain through the internet), honestly most people that say they should of kept it in the video are probably just joking or at least I hope so. Also it's not a big deal at all, just people pointing out why the video was reuploaded, and other people just finding it funny that they messed up. If anything, you going to many comments to say that Nintendo might sue them tells me that you're the one making it a big deal.
It was just a honest mistake by some Valve employee, that's it. Nothing that can't be fixed.
@@gfhhfgZ Yeah, Valve would win, but they just don't want the hurdle of responding a legal case just because of a PR video. It's better to avoid it by changing that part and re-upload the video.
Thanks for the dedication! I have my Steam Deck since March and it's going everywhere with me. I do think the price of the docking station is a bit hefty, though.
Looking forward to what's ahead in the future. The SD is such a game changer! (see what I did there)
You do have to consider that it comes with a power supply (charger), which isn't necessarily cheap either (look up 45W USB PD chargers), though it would be nice if they had an option to buy just the dock alone for cheaper, especially since many (if they had the option to buy just the dock) may just plug in their original power supply from the Steam Deck and just charge on the dock only. For this reason, they should provide such an option, tbh.
Unless of course they've worked out something that allows charging the Steam Deck at 45W even through the dock (and thus they would include more than a 45W power supply with the dock). For example, if the dock could itself negotiate 20V from the power supply so it can draw more than 45W, and then still convert it to the voltage the Steam Deck negotiates (15V) so it can supply the full 45W. If they haven't done this with the dock, there's no reason they shouldn't offer a dock-only option in their store.

-Optimize games for it= Locked 120 fps settings for all games when installed (if that isn't reachable then 60 fps locked)
- Quick resume function for games.
-Solid state active cooling + Solid state battery.
