I grew up listening to Whinny-the-Pooh on 75rpm records sitting on the floor of my bedroom. It was narrated by A.A. Milne himself and there were several records. The book I got for Christmas in 1956 for Christmas is on my bookshelf. A sibling has the records. My grandkids both read the book with me. The fact that the real Whinny was a Canadian bear made the entire collection of stories, records and memories all the better! 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦

We literally won ww1 and most of ww2. We declared war on Japan after Pearl Harbor was bombed forcing the USA to join the war only a couple of years before it ended and they took credit for a lot of the liberation of camps Canada did with Britain. Since we liberated Holland and France, Normandy has a huge memorial monument on the beach to the Canadians and the town has Canadian flags. Dutch love Canadians. Our military got smaller in the 80s when that pm made an agreement with the USA to follow their lead. Sadly, if Trump wins, every country in the world will target the USA and I'm afraid Canada will suffer.

It's a shame that they didn't take the bear to the front. Just imagine being a German soldier told to do a night raid knowing that the the other side has a bear. There's a linguistic theory that the proto-germanic people were so terrified of bears that they stopped using the proto-indo-european word for bear (harktos) and instead just referred to it as "brown one" for fear that invoking the monster's name would bring it to their door.
Speaking of being afraid of bears, the Chinese president doesn't seem to like the name Winnie the Pooh. 😊
