WORTH NOTING - The $15 Carnival WI-FI is for the non premium WI-FI. The premium WI-FI is $21.75/per day, so the $75 is cheaper if if you need 4 devices but if you only need 2 not so much.
Yeah I was just thinking about that - on our last Carnival cruise we did the wi-fi plan (premium) for both of us so we ended up around $45 a day for the two of us. So even with the multi-device plan, we would be paying more. And we really don't need more than two devices. I really wish they would do a 2-device plan that saves you a little money (like maybe $35 a day for two devices for the premium wi-fi).
I’m using with a group of 4 so I would save money because we are taking the total coast and dividing it by 4 and everyone pays their part comes out to 18.75 a day per person
Why do people go on vacation to play with electronics? Nobody needs more than one device unless you are in the profession of filming while on the cruise. Then I believe you should be charged for not vacationing properly
No food of the ship or taking food from any port back to the ship has always been a thing! Beverages have not been an issue but fruits, vegetables, and food has always been an issue!
Not being able to take food off the ship is not new, it's been the policy for many years. Some ports check your bags when you get off the ship. If we need something to eat we just buy some packaged food locally. BUT we have traveled with friends that think its a sin to have to buy lunch on shore when you can just sneak food off the ship.
These rules are not set up by the cruise lines. They are the rules set up by that country for whatever reason. If you visit that country, they’re not going to waive them just because you’re an American. Get over it!
People try to do this all of the time and are successful with small items like cereal boxes. I have been on a beach in the Caribbean where people use cheerios to feed fish.
I am so sick and tired of these people who think they’re exempt from the rules others MUST follow! Whatever happened to the dress code in the buffet area, mainly on Carnival? These people walk around wearing thongs, sitting where others sit is disgusting! Where are the health regulations? We’re expected to wash our hands and use sanitizer, but half naked passengers can sit their bare butts where we have sit!
There are restrictions of crossing certain state lines with food. Example Oregon to California: " It may sound strange, but California is particularly serious about barring all citrus, including loose pieces of citrus fruit, from being brought into the state. Many other fruits, as well as a number of nuts and vegetables, are also prohibited"
The camouflage issue has been fairly well documented on a certain cruise forum site. I don't wear it often, but I am aware of this and don't bring it on cruises.
Some people learn from their own mistakes. Some people learn from other people's mistakes. Some people keep making the same mistakes hoping for different outcomes.
I am a diabetic and make sure I eat a healthy breakfast then take unopened water bottle and a protein bar that is wrapped in original wrapping. I would never take prepared food off the ship. You can always stop in a shop and get food also.
Like you though I’ve need to have foods that are better for my health -- it’s always commercially sealed although I like my own better. Depending on the country you might be asked to prove it’s water, though I have no idea how one might do that.
Once upon a time, back when I was a kid in Hong Kong, about a week before a tour, we were required to attend a meeting hosted by the travel agent. Rules and advice would have been given including what you can and cannot do during the tour. Maybe it’s time they bring it back in virtual format.
Do they no longer mention not to wear camo? Carnival ships I’ve been on have announced this and had it in print. But then if you ignore the warnings you pay the price. Passengers are also told repeatedly you’re not allowed to take food off the ship! What makes this person think they are above warnings and country entry laws?
People don’t listen, or read. Many turn brains off before they even leave home. Then assume the rules are the same as in their town (as they think: “As well they should be!”). The locals should just remove the camos, let them get back to the ship naked. Send those sneaking food to the brig on bread and water for a couple days.
As a GUEST in another country, you are required to abide by thier laws, rules and regulations. Ultimately it's the GUEST's responsibility to NOT waste food by attempting to take it off the ship when it's not allowed. That's why cruise ships have Port seminars.... and why they should be attended. (Not being able to feed your family on shore with cruise ship food... aka on the cheap... is likely the predominant issue).
In 2013 it was $0.60/minute ($36/h), the total bandwidth was 1.44 mb/s for the entire ship and the latency was 1000ms and you had to go to the internet room to get wi-fi. Internet worked maybe 60% of the time. On my last cruise, this March (exactly 11 years later), my personal individual bandwidth in my cabin was 2.5-4.6 mb/s in my cabin and ping was 61ms. We had internet from Buenos Aires to Cape Horn and back to Valparaiso. I did 4 remote computer services and on complete new computer install in BC, Canada from my cabin and watched HD movies on Netflix, Disney+ and Prime, all while off the coast of South America. Not actually more expensive.
I haven’t figured out yet why pink camo style prints aren’t allowed! I see only 2 places you could hide: in a pepto bismol bottle or a cotton candy machine! I understand the blue ones although the true navy ones are always easy to find. And even the desert camo but must an orange and green print that sorta looks like camo also be banned?
I get that not everyone knows not to wear camo in the Caribbean, but the cruise staff most definitely knows, and should have stopped the guy before he even got off the ship.
Part of the high wifi cost in my opinion is to be a deterent. If you're working or watching movies on your device, you're not doing other things and spending money.
Um, If Ican't work from my internet laptop, I can't cruise. CLIA would lose five weeks of cruise money in 2024 so far this year, if I could not connect my laptop to work. If you don't want wifi, then go with a tent somewhere inthe Montana mountains.
The cruise lines are really nickel and diming. Back in the day everything was included. Now you pay for drinks, internet, specialty restaurants, etc... I don't like this trend.
And what is making it worse is that they are packing the ship with as many passengers as possible so not only does it cost more, it's really not as much fun.
I feel like the cruise industry is doing the "Spirit Airlines" model past couple of years. Charging for lots of things that were included in your cruise fare. Internet just happens to be one where it has gone up and up and up😮
1982 I was on a small dive boat cruise entering Bimini harbor in the middle of the night. I was on deck wearing camouflage pants with an OD t shirt. I thought the harbor official that met the boat to do paperwork about lost it when I stepped off the boar onto the dock. No worries dude I was just looking for some Bahamian Banana Rum. He calmed down when he saw I wasn't a threat to anybody. Never heard you can't wear camo off the boat but then 82 was a few years ago
You can use a pocket router and only pay for that to connect to the ship WIFI and then connect all your devices to the router. TP-Link Ultra-Portable Wi-Fi 6 AX1500 Travel Router TL-WR1502X is a good choice.
What every WiFi user needs to do is use a WiFi router. You connect the WiFi router to the ship's WiFi, once connected then you connect your own devices to the router. Technically the ship only sees 1 user (router), what you get is access to all of your devices.
The lady getting caught with food was only upset because her plans were ruined. I get that people are trying to save money but if you can afford a cruise, you can afford some food while in port.
oh dear - take a deep breath and go without an internet device while you are walking through the ship and enjoying what the ship has to offer. focus on that. it provides a wealth of benefits to be disconnected for a spell. accept it and relax - breathe in the sea air - look up to the stars or out to the horizon and contemplate the vastness of the sea .....
Agree with you about Princess Premier package (12 minute mark). We are doing a repositioning cruise on the Regal Princess next April (2025) and signing up for this package was a no-brainer.
We know from their records how much they are paying for Starlink. Even from a generic standpoint we know each ship has 6-12 dishes with avg rate @ $5000 each. They are making millions while one of the only technologies to get cheaper over time continues to instead increase on cruise ships.
We have done back to backs and were ready to go home after 14 days, the "IDEA" of a 9 month sounds cool but I would hate to see the costs and gratuities after 9 months...
If she was packing a lunch from the buffet for several people, into a zip lock container, then yes, she is going to be noticed and stopped. If she was packing that same container in her room, from plates of food that she brought from the buffet - no one would have been the wiser. I have never been stopped from taking food back to my room, and have never had my items checked when leaving the ship. My quess would be it was more about how and where she was packing her picnic lunch that led to this.
Last time I was in Cozumel there were sniffer dogs and customs officers at the end of the pier ferreting out the wayward cruiser trying to take food onto land. *Cue theme from COPS*
On taking food off the ship: Youi will be bringing the food into another country without the proper permits, and that is illegal just about everywhere. Even bringing unpermitted food onto a cruise ship can cause problems.

😂 you always make it enjoyable to watch you. I could have sworn I saw it in carnival rules, not to wear camo in some ports. Yes you should make a video on the NEW rules. Or Cruise lines should also make it in their rules. Just incase your videos are not watched. I hope peeps are watching you.
Re: taking food off the ship - when Royal Caribbean ships stop at their resort Labadee in Haiti, I believe the lunch served is brought from the ship. I totally understand why there are rules about not taking food off the ship - there are so many examples of unintended consequences when living things from one environment are introduced to another environment, especially where there are no natural predators - Chesapeake Blue crabs off the coast of Italy or Lionfish in the Caribbean for instance.
Their home, their rules .. invasive insects are a real concern. Are you willing to reimburse them for any damages you cause by bringing that piece of fruit? This has been a customs rule for decades
They now have more food sniffing dogs at the end of the pier during debarkation on the visiting ports, The dogs love to sniff and only takes a few seconds to scan multiple passengers Carrying dirty can get you in trouble
They're pricing us out I'm not working on the cruise but I'd like to have 2 devices connected. Currently I toggle between the 2. Then most of the time the service sucks horribly spotty!!!
I’m not sure how well this works because I usually don’t buy the internet packages but I’ve seen advice on other UA-cam channels that said you can use one device as a hotspot and tether another device. However what they said was that both devices need to be by each other but this couple said it worked for them.
I took a cruise to Sth America and it ended in Valparaiso Chile and took some snacks like beef jerky I could eat on the bust to Lima Peru to catch a plane on Spirit (yes it goes there) to go back to US but I bought it WAAY before the cruise (and plus the fact I stayed on the ship until Argentina as they were selling cabins on the ship for the next cruise with no Sig Sup and after all that time, it seemed to go bad so I threw it away, thank goodness I say after reading this.
Before my first cruise I did a lot of research and I knew about wearing camouflage clothing, you can't take food off or on the ship unless it's in it's original sealed package (bag of nuts, bottle of water etc...). There is so much information here on You Tube from creators such as yourself and a few others I follow.
Until our cruise earlier this year, my previous cruises had no internet options. In fact you only could communicate via ship to shore phone which was very expensive. So, we don’t get the internet package. We disconnect and enjoy each other’s company.
Pro Princess. Carnival WiFi works for me the way it is because I dont need extra devices. I am happy that I am a subscriber❣️bad camo joke. Sorry. lol. That would be a good video to make about the weird rules in some ports. The food thing has been like a forever thing not to take off ship. Thanks Tony.
I agree! Princess has really stepped up the cruise game. I love Celebrity, and we like Princess, too. But, this new revamp has really added VALUE to the Princess cruise.
There's a well documented case of Delta Airlines giving passengers an apple as an in flight snack, the passengers putting the fruit in their pockets instead of eating or throwing it away, and then being fined $500 after disembarking for transporting fruit through customs.
Got nailed for an orange in Vancouver getting off an Alaska Cruise. I was pulled off line and taken to a back room while they searched my baggage. I meant to eat it on the bus from the ship terminal to the airport/customs check. Forgot about it until the customs inspector pulled it out of my backpack.
Unless things have changed...Princess will not sell you "a" drinks package unless the 2nd person in the cabin ALSO buys one. My wife does not drink alcohol so we dont buy the drinks packages. I go a la carte.
Many countries have restrictions concerning taking food into them. Hawaii is also very restrictive about taking food unto the islands. Ì don't know if it's still true but in 1960 I remember being stopped at the Texas state line for an agricultural inspection.
Now, I know there would be a lot of factors in this, balcony overhangs, being able to see the sky, power outlets, keeping the door open for the wire, but what is stopping someone from bringing their own Starlink dish, the mini one is so small it fits in any backpack. Now I know there would be times it won't work, but say you get that perfect angle and can get service or even hang a pole over the side (not recommend) so you get a view of the sky you can totally skip cruise WiFi. Now, I am sure they will add it to the TOS, but until they do, I can pop up on the sun deck with my battery pack and use Starlink. The prices they are changing are insane; I know Starlink is less than the old MEOs, and even if you do the most expensive hardware, $10k per dish and $5000 a month, I am sure that the people who sign up for it will pay those costs in a few months so I feel they should be like Virgin and offer it free or very cheap say $5-$10 a day.
Premium connection is $21.25. 4x$21.25= $85. Therefore, buying the multi connection is $10 cheaper. The multi device package only comes in premium option, you cannot get a multi device social plan.. It is basic math that the video maker failed to do.
Here’s some additional math that really doesn’t make sense… one device is $15. Up to four devices is $75, yet 4x$15 is $60. Why do they charge what would equal the cost to 5 devices? Typically bigger packages have greater discounts, not additional costs.
EDIT: My question? What would stop someone from buying the *4* device package and just splitting it between THREE OTHER PEOPLE??? We took our LAST Carnival cruise (for a while anyway) a few week ago. Everything was fantastic except for the majority of clientele on board. I have never seen such a group of rude obnoxious half dressed "extra fluffy" people in my life. Look, I'm all for 'You do you' mentality, but when it comes to assaulting the eyes of other passengers and berating staff then it's a huge NO! NO! Princess is looking so good both financially & good things from friends and family. Also, sailed on RC in the past and would do it again (on a longer 8 day cruise). Wifi isn't a big deal, we cruise to disconnect (mostly) from land _stuff_ , but my son who WFH (and can do so anywhere) loves to cruise and it IS a big deal to him.
Tony: What’s to stop a balcony cruiser from taking a certain square kit onboard and “pointing it at the sky?” There are obstacles to overcome (cabling, access only in stateroom) but at least there would not be any risk of boll weevils!
WORTH NOTING - The $15 Carnival WI-FI is for the non premium WI-FI. The premium WI-FI is $21.75/per day, so the $75 is cheaper if if you need 4 devices but if you only need 2 not so much.

Anyone who has traveled internationally knows about Customs department and not bringing food into any country from another.
The food... its Not the Cruise lines who makes those rules but the countries you are visiting.
The camouflage clothing isn’t a rule of the country, it is a law.

Unreasonable you should be able to take snacks off the cruise ship. Sometimes I’m afraid to eat the items out on the islands.
Their home, their rules .. invasive insects are a real concern. Are you willing to reimburse them for any damages you cause by bringing that piece of fruit? This has been a customs rule for decades
They now have more food sniffing dogs at the end of the pier during debarkation on the visiting ports, The dogs love to sniff and only takes a few seconds to scan multiple passengers
Carrying dirty can get you in trouble
Love the DC Talk pull...not sure how many will get that but I'm here for it!
Sweet! Love dc Talk!!! Went on a cruise to see them perform. That is how I got into cruising!
They're pricing us out I'm not working on the cruise but I'd like to have 2 devices connected. Currently I toggle between the 2. Then most of the time the service sucks horribly spotty!!!
So appreciate the nod to DC Talk! Toby Mac is a man of God who has helped me along my journey with his music and life testimony 😊
I’m not sure how well this works because I usually don’t buy the internet packages but I’ve seen advice on other UA-cam channels that said you can use one device as a hotspot and tether another device. However what they said was that both devices need to be by each other but this couple said it worked for them.
Well DUH on the camouflage clothing
Wow!! I spend $25/month for my internet. I have my computers and phone hooked up for work.
You have a nice singing voice. I liked the little bit at the beginning.
RE the WiFi, They should offer it incrementally, not all or one. Humph.
Tony B
I am so sorry that you were speaking on the boweevil my mind went to Bocephus😅
I took a cruise to Sth America and it ended in Valparaiso Chile and took some snacks like beef jerky I could eat on the bust to Lima Peru to catch a plane on Spirit (yes it goes there) to go back to US but I bought it WAAY before the cruise (and plus the fact I stayed on the ship until Argentina as they were selling cabins on the ship for the next cruise with no Sig Sup and after all that time, it seemed to go bad so I threw it away, thank goodness I say after reading this.
Kicked it back to DC Tallk!
I'm all about the DC Talk reference!
Before my first cruise I did a lot of research and I knew about wearing camouflage clothing, you can't take food off or on the ship unless it's in it's original sealed package (bag of nuts, bottle of water etc...). There is so much information here on You Tube from creators such as yourself and a few others I follow.
I love the DC Talk reference!
Until our cruise earlier this year, my previous cruises had no internet options. In fact you only could communicate via ship to shore phone which was very expensive. So, we don’t get the internet package. We disconnect and enjoy each other’s company.
It’s why I am trying Princess! This plus package puts them a step above! Loved NCL free at sea offer but this plus by Princess offers so much more!
"Stay still and go John Cena." 😂 Always a delight to watch your content.
I'm in those Boat Shoes. I don't create content but I need to have Internet. I'll just stick to logging out of one to use the other.
I’ve taken apples to feed the wild donkey’s.
In Grand Turk. Never gave it much thought, until now
Pro Princess.
Agree, Princess absolutely best value
Thanks for the cruise news and your views
I will continue to log out from my devices. So wrong, Carnival! 😮
Im from a small town in Alabama that has a statue of a bollweevil in the middle of downtown! Like you drive around her at an intersection!
Yes I would please 🙏 make a video of the Do Nots of cruising. I would definitely send me people I bring with me on future cruises.
Unless things have changed...Princess will not sell you "a" drinks package unless the 2nd person in the cabin ALSO buys one. My wife does not drink alcohol so we dont buy the drinks packages. I go a la carte.
That sounds good Tony for first time cruisers
Four times $15 is $60, why are they charging $75? I will continue to switch between devices.
Premium connection is $21.25. 4x$21.25= $85. Therefore, buying the multi connection is $10 cheaper. The multi device package only comes in premium option, you cannot get a multi device social plan..
It is basic math that the video maker failed to do.
Gotcha.
Accurate a f
Here’s some additional math that really doesn’t make sense… one device is $15. Up to four devices is $75, yet 4x$15 is $60. Why do they charge what would equal the cost to 5 devices? Typically bigger packages have greater discounts, not additional costs.
The $15 isn't the premium service. Sorry I didn't make that clearer. The base premium is $22.50/day.
Tony: What’s to stop a balcony cruiser from taking a certain square kit onboard and “pointing it at the sky?”
There are obstacles to overcome (cabling, access only in stateroom) but at least there would not be any risk of boll weevils!
