- Photos by Steven Brown. Narrated travelog of a 1995 month long trip around Australia. Starting in Victoria, spend a day with me at the Brooklyn signal box, chase a steam train, go for a cab ride and feel sorry for penguins before continuing on a tour around the country ending with the finale; a transcontinental ride aboard the Indian Pacific.
Cameron is one of my safeworking supervisors ! He oversee's signalbox operations around the Melbourne network and also sorts out disruptions and disabled trains.
Amazing what pops up in UA-cam! An excellent timpiece, capturing the colonial differences along with mixed British and American practice. And yes, those Bulldogs are hanging in!
I love your travelogue. It's funny and hilarious, yet informative :)
Thanks Bagus! I hope to have one about Indonesia too soon!
Thank you for the effort you put into your productions. They are a pleasure to view!
Thanks!!
Alot has changed at Sydney's Central Station since 1995. You can now catch a train to the Domestic & International Airports. There's now a tram network in Sydney that has returned. If you're ever back in Australia, Sydney has lots you can see by train..... Blue Mountains, Kiama Blowhole, Newcastle.....
I live in Kerang and I’ve been here all my life unfortunately V/line took out some of the track at the Wellington street crossing so there’s been 0 steam trains for years. Also good job on the video
Great video, like how you've researched the EMD model numbers of our locos. Are you pictures available to see anywhere?

Oh to have a dollar for everytime I went over that crossing at Brooklyn either on a train or in the car. Had to rewind when I heard you say Cameron's name. Always knew things would be alright when you called Brooklyn office on the radio and heard him reply.
Bit annoyed that Adelaide south Australia was left out but loved the rest of it
I share your annoyance!
Nice job, good shots. Last of the Kodachromes?
I stayed with Kodachrome until 2000.
Excellent video man , I live in NSW and I have also lived in San Bernardino, CA and I love American and Australian EMD’s and GE’s
Well you got to Kathrine but since it was 1995 the Ghan only reched to the town of Alice Springs down south so it would of been a good place to watch trains but anyways in 2002 or 2003 the Ghan now reaches Darwin passing Kathrine with a Level Crossing before the national park.
the erie railroad was based on the vr livery 5:21
Love it, Steven! Now I want to go..
That was marvelous! What a great journey, thanks for sharing it!
Lol, love how you pronounce "Bendigo"....try saying it like this "Ben-Dee-Go". It's a pity you did not get to tour Adelaide South Australia, maybe next time.....Ps, it's your toilet water that goes the wrong way mate!
8:02 i love this photo, never seen anything like it before
The Brooklyn signal box is still there … think there was a minor fire a couple of years back but it’s still standing .. I work at the north dynon yard
i can confirm the hippie bar is still around … and as described …. still.
Wow!
Have any photos of the ADL/ADC DMUs or the ADK/ADB DMUs? New Zealand to date uses the ADL/ADC sets in Auckland for Sub-Urban -> Urban/Central Commute. Not long-distance anymore, just a commute to 2 unelectrified stations since 2015. Any DQ locomotives? Imported to NZ via Wisconsin Central Ltd's company called Tranzrail.
I still get to drive the N classes on passenger trains in Victoria. The last of "Suburban/interurban" locomotive hauled trains in Australia
Soon to be replaced by something that sounds like a vacuume cleaner.
Love watching these videos, would love to see more
Very nice video! .......... Like ..........
Greetings!
This was a really interesting video. Thanks for posting it. Did you see any DL500's while you were down there?

Hahaha. those Aussie don't know good music
plenty of aussies that love good music , just that we also suffer from the global problem of young idjuts with absolutly no music taste..
