    I actually kind of enjoyed the silent learning this week. Hope you feel better soon. A couple of months ago I went on a hiking trip up in the mountains. I did a trail that went through a canyon. Inside the canyon was the most quiet environment I've ever been in. It was so creepy quiet, the walls of the canyon blocked everything out, including the wind. I realized that I was literally the only sound that was present. I stopped and just sat on a rock for about 30 minutes trying to make my body as quiet as I could. I don't think I have ever experienced that degree of quiet before. It was a very trippy experience; my perceptions of the senses started to get really distorted, not at all unlike what happens in Kriya.

    I've heard this internal sound several times and in my consciousness traced it back until I eventually wound up in a field of pure white light. The light was in all directions and my "vision" or awareness was in all directions a well. There was in fact no source of vision I simply was a field of white light, until I began to subtly be aware of the physical body again. Then I became aware I was laying on my side the light faded and I came back into the room so to speak. This happened to me 35 years ago and it happened to me about 15 times in one evening. I've been seeking an understanding to what it really was and what benefit it might be for me? But no answers have been forthcoming nor can I repeat the experience despite numerous meditations breathing techniques etc etc. It seems like a huge tease that just kind of burned up my hope of life and made me bitter and resentful that I cannot get back to that same space. Unfortunate but true, thought I would share...

      Beautiful! That was a wonderfully deep non-dual experience, or samadhi. You temporarily became free of the grip of the left brain and United with the right brain perspective. This is what I teach my students to do. But the full road can be a little long, though I make it as easy and short as possible. It is very common for a yogi to become frustrated, because what he is trying to accomplish is so huge. It is quite literally a Herculean task.

    Briefly, last week during deep-breathing meditation, suddenly, for about five to seven seconds, I heard a very deep, very soft, and resonant, "Whuump, Whuump" sound. It wasn't my heart. I know what my heart sounds like. It was more like it was coming from deep inside my head. I had never heard it before. I haven't heard it since.

    Wow that chamber sounds super cool. I want one!...
    In another related note, last night I had another dream where I was sitting in a room, putting some drops of unknown substance beneath my eyes, with other people, and i was the only one who became intoxicated. They thought I was drunk because I could hardly walk. I couldn't hear anything but the sounds you speak of here, I'm not sure how deep they were. I could also feel enormous bliss in my head and my body felt more like a shell. I could hardly walk without falling over and I didn't understand why I was so euphoric. Then I woke up, lying completely still, still in the euphoric bliss that I was in, in my dream. It remained as long as I stayed still. This is the second time this had happened. The first time it happened by CHANTING OM IN MY DREAM LOL!! Its so crazy I love it.

    “The dance posture of the God may be visualized as the symbolic syllable AUM which is the verbal equivalent of the four states of consciousness and their fields of experience. (A: waking consciousness; U: dream consciousness; M: dreamless sleep; the silence around the sacred syllable is the Unmanifest Transcendent.) I think it would be a little bit cost prohibitive. However yes your meditations would most likely be more regularly phenomenal. The amount that ambient noise distracts the meditator is really something. A very great and in between measure would be to get the small version of the foam wedges that come in 4-ft squares that you can stick on your walls. Forrest is nirodha samapatti the same as stone samadhi ?

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  3 роки тому

      No... Stone samadhi describes a problem that the yogi should avoid by always keeping some of his beta conscious mind as he dips into the non-dual state. There are two levels of samadhi that the yogis are trying to describe otherwise. In the first level you still have reasoning and recollection, and though you float in the infinite and feel yourself in it, there is still a very thin layer of separation. In the next level that disappears and the reasoning and recollection also disappears. At this point the yogi is truly non-dual. He says to himself, after coming out of the experience, I AM THAT. He had become the Whole, merging with It completely.

      I get so tremendously confused when switching from Buddhist to Yogic terminology. I have figured while meditating that my obssesion with constant and endless reading and searching is my underlying fear of dissapearance and annihilation. All I ever wanted to know is whether 'I' last forever and is there a final end.
