I Found a TON of Unreleased FF4 Stuff!

- There's a lot of unused content in Final Fantasy 4!! It certainly needs no introduction, but I did want to mention before we dive into some cut content for the game and to maybe see how it could have been a very different game altogether, that Final Fantasy 4 garnered a lot of praise since it first came out over 30 years ago. Even now with the release of the Pixel Remaster recently, the marks are still high indicating the overall quality of storytelling that is presented to the player.

Sea of Silence: either when there is a betrayal from Kain or you enter into the Eidolon village?
The origin one sounds like a track for cutscenes when protagontists are reforming. The whole thing about 4 is that you pretty much spend the entire game losing a losing battle but there are small points of redemption as this is the games theme for its story and for each of its characters. Possibly when you're planning your attack on the giant and your allies show up to help seemingly unannounced. Restless moments seems appropriate for the Fabul attack or the Demon Wall fight. The one after that is probably for the moon core level. The bass line in it is the exact same as the "Inside the Giant" track.
You’re definitely onto something. Jain leaves the party 15 times either due to Golbez or his jealousy over Cecil and Rosa and maybe that track would just get stale if it repeated anytime Kain had a moment. As far as the Inside the Giant bass line, I noticed that! For the first 2 seconds I was like “umm this isn’t unused…” and then the other part kicked in, so that’s why I labeled it a ‘crossover’. But good point about the Restless Moments and the Demon Wall! That would make a ton of sense given the name of the track!
I would definitely use Sea of Silence after the shipwreck, The Origin for Fusoya's appearance with the moon crystals, and Restless Moments in "The Zemus Zone" near the end of the game.
About the unused music, all 3 tracks actually come from the Final Fantasy 4 Minimum Album (ファイナルファンタジーIV ミニマムアルバム), which is just a 6-track promo CD containing 3 arranged tracks and 3 unused tracks from the game. The liner notes from the CD actually contain commentary from Nobuo Uematsu stating their original purpose:
-The Origin (序章) was meant to play at the opening scene, when Cecil and the Red Wings were doubting themselves over stealing the Water Crystal from Mysidia before being attacked by monsters. The title translates as "Opening".
-Restless Moments (ローザを救え！) was meant to play during the cutscene where the party saves Rosa in the Tower of Zot. The title literally translates as "Save Rosa!", but I guess they choose to put an "artistic" english name to the track for the CD release.
-The Sea of Silence (静かの海), surprisingly, was meant to be the Red Moon's overworld theme before it got replaced by the "Another Moon" track. The english title is accurately translated this time.
I think it's a shame we never got to hear The Sea of Silence in-game, it's such a beautiful track. At least they could've repurposed it as the Game Over theme, since it fits so well (and the game doesn't have one to begin with. lol).

@@TheReturnersHideout No problem. There's also a few other unused tracks scattered between Final Fantasy music releases. For example, the Mambo de Chocobo mini CD from 1993 also has 3 unused tracks (+2 arrangements), this time from Final Fantasy 5.
this one is my most fave FF cause this set a standard on story telling for video games in its time.
Final Fantasy IV Ultima Hack is so good it felt like so much that had been missing was actually there, even tho it hadn’t felt missing before. I had to grind so hard to get optional bosses beat that Zeromus was a chocobo.
The Restless song reminds me of Dreadful Fight from Saga/FFL2 the boss theme that started right when you’d speak to them.
I did a no Esper run a year ago and it was a lot of fun! Now I'm doing a no Materia run and I'm enjoying it :)
Absolute Favorite FF to this day. It was a game changer back in the day....Before FFVI could destroy the world and have another map, FFIV took us underground and to the moon.
Oh for sure! This was the game that got me into the series. I was blown away by it and obsessed with it for a long time, until I got my hands on 6.

Cid is visually my second favorite of the group(Kain is my favorite im not crazy), Im sad he got the shaft he totally desevered a better command than study when other units can libra themselves
also that Golbez deep dive sounds interesting, but I would it would have to be holistic, talking about Lunarians in general, Talking about the after years plot and how he looks in that game, etc, Golbez gets flack for being from a simple plot, but he totally does good enough to be memorable, to a point where all the complains I ever heard about the ending is how he isnt the final villan. My hope is that he would join the party being waken up from fusoya´s sacrifice, you have it on your party until he betrays you last second and Kain returns to save you.

I would say it really seems like they wanted to do more with Golbez in the ds version as they added that part ou play through as him as a kid and then he talks about hiding away in the boarderlands or something, but all that stuff they added really just adds further questions to the game rather than clarifying anything.
That Restless Moments unused track was probably intended for either A) Giant of Bab-el or B) the Final Stretch of the Lunar Subterraine.
The origin sounds like the Ace Rimmer theme tune.

Cid was supposed to rejoin you briefly at the Tower of Bab-el. The only evidence of this is that there is a script that if you somehow have Cid in your party again and play out the running across the bridge scene, Cid is once again removed from your party. I remember using a duplicate-party-member-in-the-middle-row-during-battle-when-using-an-item Game Genie code to give myself two Cids since I knew the game was gonna take Cid away during that escape from Tower of Bab-el scene
I'm horrible because I watched Looney Tunes on TV before knowing what Final Fantasy was, but I've always read "Cecil" as "SEE-sil", like how Bugs pronounces "Cecil Turtle" in one or a few of those "Tortoise Beats Hare" shorts.
It makes sense though; by English's own rules, any vowel preceding a consonant that is immediately followed by another vowel makes the first vowel longer. Why does this language go backwards on its own rules all the time??
Just weird hearing people say "SEH-sil" after 30 years since 6th grade of reading it like what I heard.
Lol here’s the thing - it’s See-sil to me in my private time but I always want to pronounce it on the channel as it was intended. In my private time I pronounce EVERYTHING weird!
